* [[spoiler: Cat]] is hit by a car after she steps out into the street while not paying attention (she's texting Frankie). Despite the best efforts of the hospital staff, she dies. After losing her, Sam (who's a tough police detective) remains stoic until she returns to their flat and then breaks down in tears. The rest of her friends (and Frankie) also weep over their loss the next day. It's an utterly pointless death, yet realistic and tragic as a result.
