* The cockroach scene portrays Orin's desperation and passivity so well and so disturbingly and so strangely that it's impossible not to laugh and impossible not to be absolutely devastated. And Hal's slow descent, his horrific fate, and especially the scene when he looks out the window in the middle of the snow storm and can barely recognize himself are imaginably sad.
