* Akane and Angie's fight after the party in Korekiyo's lab. Angie, happy to be speaking with Akane again, has her attempt at making up with her shot down again, after which she desperately tries to get her to stay with her. Akane, completely disillusioned with her former sista, accuses her of caring only about her gang and Atua, to which Angie, for the first time, lets her cheerful façade slip, and reveals that ever since revealing her sista's secret, she can't hear Atua anymore. Even with this revelation, Akane still doesn't believe her and leaves her crying alone. The narration also shows how difficult the situation is on Akane, who never usually had to deal with such situations.

* [[spoiler: Chihiro accusing Mahiru of being the killer. The dialogue leading up to the accusation is just heartbreaking, Chihiro inwardly trying to deny the thought only to fail, start crying, and realize his friend killed Nagito. Then there's Mahiru, after she stops playing it off as a joke, yelling at Chihiro to stop. The pure anger she expresses is enough to cause Chihiro to break down, shaking and bruising his own arm by gripping it, and consider letting her go. To add to it, the dialogue focuses on how he thinks the world doesn't need him and Mahiru is needed. Even when Himiko helps him recover, he continues to express how heartbroken he is.]]

Since the characters gradually grow closer with each other and the audience becomes fond of them, it makes sense for tearjerker moments to occur as the cast slowly becomes smaller.
