* We kick off the story with Shuichi's execution. He's in an escape room, and just when it looks like there's a HopeSpot for Shuichi, he gets killed by ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice in the skull. This leaves Kaede in such a poor mental state that she vaguely recalls grabbing Shuichi's hat, Kaito attempting to comfort her, and cries herself to sleep in her room. In that moment, Kaede is completely inconsolable. And that's just the first chapter.
