* {{Gaslighting}}: While Chucky has always had a habit of telling kids what they want to hear to get them to help him, in season one he's much more deliberate and insidious in how he manipulates Jake and his friends in order to get them to on his side, even going so far as [[spoiler:killing Annie only a week after killing Jake's father and still insisting it was merely an accident.]]

* NWordPrivelges: The openly gay Jake (and to a meta-extent the writer, Don Mancini) angrily refers to himself as a "fag" when confronting his father about his homophobia.

''Chucky'' is a supernatural slasher horror series created by Don Mancini. It is the ninth installment of the ''Franchise/ChildsPlay'' franchise, a {{sequel|series}} to ''Film/CultOfChucky'', and the first television adaptation in the series.

In November 2021, the show was renewed for a second season which premiered on October 5, 2022.

* TwistedChristmas: The season 2 finale "Chucky Actually" [[spoiler: Chucky brutally murders Michelle and Tiffany gets away with Caroline on Christmas Eve]].

* PopGoesTheHuman: [[Spoiler: Father Bryce meets this demise at the end of the exorcism on Chucky]].

** ...Joseph [=LoDuca=]'s {{leitmotif}} for Chucky (best heard in the [[ThemeTune opening credits]] for Film/CurseOfChucky and Film/CultOfChucky) is constantly reprised throughout each episode any time the Chuckster gets up to mischief.

** In "Hail Mary!", the montage of horror films the kids use as part of their process to brainwash Chucky includes ''Film/TheThing1982'', ''Film/PsychoII'', ''Film/TheFunhouse'', and ''Film/Darkman''.

* VomitIndiscretionShot: Chucky projectile vomits the whiskey he drank to [[spoiler:electrocute Luke]].

* SeriesContinuityError: [[spoiler:Lucas']] tombstone clearly shows the year of his death as 2021, though the series is set in 2017.

** In "Hail Mary!", the montage of horror films the kids use as part of their process to brainwash Chucky includes Film/TheThing1982, Film/PsychoII, Film/TheFunhouse, and Film/Darkman.

*** In the finale, Glenda [[spoiler: kills a hapless security guard with a defibrillator, shocking them until their head immolates]], [[spoiler:Michelle]] is brutally bisected by a chainsaw attack from Chucky and then later [[spoiler:Lexy finishes off Chucky with the same chainsaw, slicing him half and cutting up his face]].

*** The season finale sees [[spoiler:Nathan Cross]] being killed via AssShove when Chucky stabs them through the seat their sitting on.

* CruelAndUnusualDeath: To be expected.
** Just when [[spoiler: Bree accepts her cancer diagnosis and making the best of the time she has left, Chucky rams an office cart straight into her, crashing her through the window of a high-rise building and onto a car - the same car her son Junior was in.]]
** Chucky stabs [[spoiler:Detective Payton multiple times with used syringes]].

** Season 2 is similarly downbeat with a few notes of happiness. [[spoiler: The trio manage to defeat and kill Chucky, but not before Chucky kills Lexy's mom Michelle, leaving Lexy an orphan. Caroline turns on the trio and escapes with Tiffany. And of course, Chucky and Tiffany left a wave of destruction behind them, murdering several people throughout the season, including both Tilly sisters. At the very least, Ms. Fairchild takes the trio in and believes them about Chucky, and the kids have accepted the fact that they'll be the next Kyle and Andy, spending their lives tracking and thwarting Chucky. Also Glen/Glenda are now reunited in their original doll and are traveling the world away from their murderous parents. Chucky is down to one doll to pass his soul to, and Nica has escaped and has her own plans to stop Tiffany once and for all.

* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler:In season 1, Chucky's plan is thwarted by Jake, Devon and Lexy, the trio is closer than ever and Hackensack is saved, but not before each of the kids lose one parent to Chucky and Chucky kills several townspeople at the big town viewing of ''Frankenstein''. Junior is killed by a Chucky doll while defending Lexy, leaving the entire Wheeler family dead and Jake completely without family. Poor Nica Pierce has all of her limbs severed by Tiffany/Jennifer Tilly in an attempt to keep the Chucky soul within her contained. Andy (and possibly Kyle) survived the house explosion Chucky set up to kill them both, but Andy is held captive by Tiffany while driving a truckload of Chucky dolls, and it's anyone's guess as to what plans Tiffany has in store]].

* OffWithHerHead: It's heavily implied [[spoiler:Chucky killed Principal [=McVey=] via decapitation as her corpse otherwise doesn't injured, besides her head being missing. Seeing as her head ''blinks'' when it stops rolling, this is very likely]].

* DeadStarWalking: Creator/DevonSawa, the biggest name in the show amongst the {{horror}} genre ends up being killed [[spoiler: twice]] as Luke in the first episode [[spoiler: and as Logan in the penultimate season 1 episode, given that he's also ActingForTwo]]. Subverted when Sawa is returning for season 2 as a new character.

* DuplicateDivergence: By season 2, some Chucky duplicates have developed distinctive personalities and appearances. Notably, [[spoiler:we have "Good Chucky" who's been brainwashed by the heroes, the muscular "Buff Chucky" and the cunning bald chucky refered to as "The Colonel"]].

** In episode 5, we finally learn Aunt Bree’s secret. [[spoiler:[[SecretlyDying She has]] ''[[SecretlyDying stage 4 cancer]]''[[SecretlyDying , and has been hiding it from her family]]. And that Nica is FightingFromTheInside]].

** In "I Like to Be Hugged", we see that [[spoiler:Lexy's prank in the previous episode wasn't without repercussions; it was recorded by people who attended Oliver's party and it quickly went viral, which got the attention of Miss Fairchild and Principal [=McVey=], who proceed to not only show it to Lexy's parents, but Jake's aunt and uncle.]]

** In episode 3, we see that [[spoiler:Lexy’s prank wasn’t without repercussions; it was recorded by people who attended Oliver’s party, and it quickly spread like wildfire to the point that it’s gotten the attention of Miss Fairchild and the principal of their school, who proceed to not only show it to Lexy’s parents, but Jake’s aunt and uncle.]]

* {{Retcon}}: Glen and Glenda's human bodies at the end of ''Seed'' were fraternal twins; Glen male and Glenda female. Here, they are [[AlwaysIdenticalTwins both]] played by non-binary actor Lachlan Watson.
