** Looking for a way to kill the Plutonian, Evan sought out Modeus, who dismissed the idea on the basis that villains depended on a stable society, a status quo that would likely not survive without Plutonian. However, deciding that Evan could be useful to him, Modeus agreed, if Evan could pay for it, to set him up with Dr. Origin, a biochemical engineer who claimed to have developed a method of turning people into superhumans, albeit with a success rate of nearly zero. Later on, Evan was soaked in a chem-tank under the supervision of Nurse One, Dr. Origin's assistant, and gained the power to become progressively stronger and tougher the longer he stayed awake. However, he discovered that his sense of touch would disappear once his powers kicked in, and that his body would "reset" to normal every time he slept, with his powers returning about an hour after waking up.

* Max's temple is modeled after his apartment at 16 2nd Avenue in Coalville, which was [[spoiler:burned down by a group of thugs after they had discovered his address]]. It's a fairly large, 2 story building, containing multiple living rooms and a garage where he stores his car. When given the option of choosing any heralds, Max chose to appoint a fairly large number, namely his sidekicks Jailbait and Headcase, his friends Alana Patel and Lt. Armadale, and fellow hero Hate Crime. While Jailbait and Alana were obvious choices and had a happy reunion with him, Headcase was confused as to why he would want her around again after [[spoiler:she nearly killed Qubit and was jailed]]. Max explained that he hoped that bringing her into the Pantheon would give her a better chance at being a hero again and would allow him to better help her after having failed to do so previously. Armadale, meanwhile, was alarmed to hear that Bill Henrie, a meteorologist who tried to warn him about a radioactive dust cloud headed towards Coalville, was [[spoiler:framed for having supposedly killed Armadale, having arrived into his office moments after Armadale committed suicide]]. However, he was relieved to hear from Max that [[spoiler:he managed to save Bill, and the radioactive cloud was scrubbed from the Earth's atmosphere with, ironically, the help of Plutonian]]. Max gave a heartfelt apology to Armadale about how he had treated him, as his [[BlackAndWhiteMorality black and white outlook]] at the time had caused him to judge the man quite harshly in spite of his efforts to better himself. After referring to Armadale as his one true friend, the two men embraced and promised to better aid one another from then on. Max's choice to also appoint Hate Crime (''"I hate crime, get it? Why doesn't anyone get that?"'') was puzzling to some. Despite occasionally being referred to as his "new sidekick", she didn't really interact much with him, and more commonly partnered up with Alana. However, the two get along well nonetheless, and Max appreciates her help.

Despite occasionally being referred to as his "new sidekick", she didn't really interact much with him, and more commonly partnered up with Alana. However, the two get along well nonetheless, and Max appreciates her help.help.
* His reunion with the former members of the Paradigm was somewhat mixed. Although he's cordial towards them, he doesn't particularly care to spend any time with them outside of occasional team-ups. He tends to interact most with Qubit, deferring to his expertise with technology when necessary, and in turn lending his strength to him in battle. Max has, however, managed to bond with both Bette Noir and Hornet over the guilt both of them feel regarding their past actions, as feels that judging them over it would be exceptionally hypocritical coming from him. He strongly encourages both of them on their path towards redemption, as well as bringing up positive qualities they possess, such as how he's always respected Hornet's ingenuity when making his equipment such as his sonic cannon, remarking that he "could always accomplish so much on a budget".
* As many expected, Max and Plutonian were not exactly happy to see each other when they finally came face-to-face again. However, the two surprisingly didn't get into a fight. After briefly catching up with each other, they effectively got into a mutual agreement to stay out of each other's way unless circumstances caused them to clash, similar to the agreement they made regarding Coalville. Due to the relatively small scale Max operates under, he and Plutonian rarely run into each other unless Max is specifically called in to deal with him. Aside from testing his strength against Plutonian, Max mostly just pities him, and has stated that he prefers to focus on helping the people around him rather than waste time focusing on Plutonian.
* Largely at Qubit's insistence, Max joined forces with Cosmos and the GUAG Protectorate Union. Having never been much of a team player, Max generally only gets involved when he personally deems it necessary. That being said, he is regarded as a reliable ally by the other members, and retains a good reputation among those he's helped.

* Max's ascension into the Trope Pantheon came about through the efforts of Qubit, who felt that the presence of a heavy-hitter such as him would be of benefit to the GUAG and the Pantheon as a whole, both in battle and as an example of someone who has redeemed himself. Max was surprised to hear that Qubit of all people would recommend him, but conceded that Plutonian's presence within the Pantheon made it a logical decision. Although the Court of the Gods didn't dispute that he was a good candidate for the title that Qubit proposed, Max's criminal history resulted in a number of the Court's members being hesitant to approve his ascension. When put in front of the Court and asked about his journey to heroism and his current personal beliefs and morals, Max gave a surprisingly impassioned speech on where he stands as a hero:
::'':To review: I wanted to be a superhero. Problem was, after a lifetime of being a criminal, I didn't know the recipe. So I made one very simple rule for myself: zero tolerance for wrong. Zero tolerance, because I was terrified of sliding back down the slippery slope to where I'd started. It was an immature, unreasonable maxim created, at heart, from fear. So I now have a new guiding principle: be tolerant of others' shortcomings. Be tolerant of my own. And do good for the right reasons.''

** Adopting the moniker Max Damage, he subsequently became one of Plutonian's greatest enemies and made his way atop the FBI's Most Wanted list. However, despite their mutual animosity, Max genuinely believed that Plutonian was a true selfless hero, which in turn motivated Max to be a "good, honest criminal". One day, Max broke into the Center for Disease Control in order to steal a container which held a one-of-a-kind virus capable of killing millions, possibly even billions, of people. Having reached his lowest point, Max, out of rage and self-pity, was about to unleash a death-plague on the human race. However, just before Max would have unleashed the virus, Plutonian appeared and went on a rampage, killing 3 and a half million people and destroying Sky City. Thoroughly and fundamentally shocked, Max spent a month among the ruins of Sky City, thinking on what to do next. He ultimately decided to abandon supervillainy and become the hero that the people of Coalville needed. Although he made a lot of mistakes along the way, [[spoiler:Max's choice to redeem himself did pay off in the end, with Coalville becoming a beacon of hope in the post-Plutonian world as one of the most intact places on the planet due largely to his efforts, the populace eventually recognizing (and adoring) him as their new hero, him growing and becoming a happier person, and promising his sidekick Jailbait that he would wait for her until she reached legal age]].

* Notes about your chosen deity

to:

* Notes Evan Cousins was born to a well-off, albeit dysfunctional, family in Coalville. As a teenager, Evan became interested in Coalville's local legend, the "Wolf Boy". Although he managed to track him down to an abandoned factory and layed a trap for him, Evan was quickly discovered and heavily injured by the Wolf Boy, who dropped him to the ground from high in the air and then dropped rocks on top of him before flying away. After recovering from his injuries, Evan ran away from home, although he would regularly send letters to his only friend Katy, in which he would claim to her that he had started a business with some friends, whilst he had actually joined a criminal gang. Eventually, Evan's father managed to track him down and, after revealing that his mother had been put in a psychiatric hospital due to worrying over him, made him sign two papers that emancipated and disowned him respectively, ensuring that he would not receive any inheritence after his father's death. Evan eventually stopped lying to Katy in his letters by deciding to not send them to her at all, as he didn't want to drag her into his life. Evan concluded that life was not about your chosen deitycaring about people, as Katy believed, but rather about survival, as the Wolf Boy had demonstrated. Later on, while trying to escape from a heist inside a helicopter, Evan and his crew were apprehended by the Plutonian. However, the Plutonian, having been the Wolf Boy, recognized Evan and became agitated, yelling and inadvertently breaking his hands before regaining his composure, much to Evan's confusion. While recovering in prison, Evan concluded that both he and Katy had been wrong in their respective outlooks on life, and that the real point of everything in a post-Plutonian world was power, and that ordinary people could either just lie there helpless or do something about it.
