* BlatantLies: Multiple times before and during Act VI chapter 25, the HDA claim that they wanted peace with monsters, and the monsters blew it. She hits her RageBreakingPoint when Sun proceeds to tell her that Kokoa doesn't deserve Gin at all; at that point, Kokoa snaps, punches Sun through the wall, and when Felucia grabs Sun and helps her escape, Kokoa chases her through the halls with intent to kill.

** Both Tsukune's group and the HDA admit this in Act VI chapter 50. While Moka and co. had good reason to be annoyed with the HDA, considering they automatically deemed all monsters evil based on the actions of a few, the HDA was only acting in self-defense and doing their jobs; as they point out, if humans had been responsible for an attack on a monster city, monsters would have reacted exactly the same way. The latter point is especially poignant, since back in chapter 40, Headmaster Mikogami made those exact same points to the other Dark Lords.

* ZeroPercentApprovalRating:
** During the majority of Act III, Tsukune and co, suffer this from most of the other students, who believe them to be fakers claiming to fight Fairy Tale for attention. From the climax of Act III onwards, after the other students see the group successfully fend off Kuyou and a Fairy Tale invasion force firsthand, they are the heroes of the academy from there on out.
** In Act VI chapter 45, all the members of the Fairy Tale faction that Gyokuro leads express open disdain for the late Kiria, to the extent that they view his brutal death at the hands of Ghoul!Tsukune as a MercyKill.
* HundredPercentAdorationRating: In Act III chapter 42 onwards, the student body as a whole realizes that the rumors that Tsukune and co. were fighting Fairy Tale were true when they see them fight off Kuyou and a Fairy Tale squad firsthand, which makes them the heroes of the academy. The good publicity is increased even further at the end of Act IV after the group slays Alucard.
* ACupAngst[=/=]NotGrowingUpSucks: In Act V chapter 19, Arial bemoans the fact that, since she died as a child and will remain in the body of one in Heaven forever, her breasts will never develop.
* AbnormalAmmo: In Act IV chapter 17, in order to cure the victims of the love-struck potion, Ruby conjures a bazooka with an airburst warhead specifically designed to release the antidote.
* AbsurdlyHighStakesGame: Hex, by his own admission, likes to gamble big, with his games typically being whatever his opponent wants him to do against such things as Gabriel's angelic status or the hearts of beautiful women.
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: Apoch's LaserBlade can cut through virtually everything, including Jovian and Jacqueline's supposedly-indestructible barriers. The only things it can't penetrate are Render's dual swords and the flesh of Alucard.
* AbusiveParents:
** Babylon imprisoned his daughter Pandora in Pandora's Box, whereas Hex openly states that he doesn't consider Babylon a father at all. As Hex puts it in Act VI chapter 40, nothing would make himself and Pandora happier than to see Babylon torn apart before their eyes.
** In the first chapter of Act IV, Issa promptly starts physically beating Akua and Kahlua in a rage when he discovers that they had been working for Fairy Tale and damaged the Shuzen family's reputation by doing so. When he discovers that Kokoa and Moka had also accidentally turned Tsukune into a ghoul and not killed him immediately, uncaring that Tsukune had been cured of the ghoul by the Chrono Displacement spell, he begins to attack them as well before Tsukune calls him out and convinces him to give Akua and Kahlua a chance to redeem themselves.
* AcquiredPoisonImmunity: Not exactly poison immunity, but the basic principle is the same; by the time of Act II chapter 30, Tsukune is so used to the girls' seduction attempts that Moka, Kokoa, and Yukari's attempts to give him a nosebleed via fanservice end in failure.
* AdaptationalBadass: Several examples:
** Outer Moka learns how to tap into some of Inner Moka's power despite the rosary, allowing her to fight competently.
** Both Kurumu and Kokoa get Super Modes over the course of the series.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Akua and Kahlua. In canon, they had worked for Fairy Tale to spread their anti-human agenda and were directly under Gyokuro, who had personally raised Kahlua into a berserker assassin. Here, they're given a more sympathetic motive for joining Fairy Tale (wanting to put their father on the top of the world) and pull a HeelFaceTurn when they realize that they were just Unwitting Pawns and that Kiria's plan would have benefited him and him alone.
* AdaptationalVillainy:
** In canon, Tsukune's ghoul form was largely depicted as an instinctive, mindless Berserker. Here, it's shown as a full-fledged SuperpoweredEvilSide with its own identity and personality.
** Though Hokuto was always an antagonist in the manga, he was more of a WildCard to the extent that he helped Tsukune and Moka stop his own plan. Here, he's a straight-up no-gray-area villain and a blatant StrawNihilist who openly expresses the view that life itself is nothing but a meaningless plague that must be wiped out.
** The fic does away with the sympathetic backstory that Alucard had in canon completely. In the original manga, Alucard was originally supportive of human/monster co-existence, but turned evil after humans invaded the country he founded for exactly that and killed most of his loved ones. Here, Alucard began as an arrogant, overly powerful vampire who decided to simply destroy all life, human and monster alike, out of sheer nihilism, and eventually devolved into nothing but a mindless beast.
** In the absence of Alucard's significant canon backstory, there is a strong implication that Gyokuro Shuzen is not only the true leader of Fairy Tale, but its founder as well. If so, she would be ultimately responsible for all the suffering Fairy Tale has caused since Act II.
* AdaptationalWimp: Downplayed; while Akua lacks the Jigen-Tou and is thus not the threat she was in the manga, she nonetheless remains a powerful and competent enough fighter to easily beat both Tsukune and Inner Moka at once with ease.
* AdultFear: In Act VI chapter 47, Mizore, Kurumu, and Yukari's parents all face this, having just witnessed their daughters get arrested and nearly executed by the [=HDA=] on national television.
* AdultsAreUseless: As usual, Headmaster Mikogami's general response to any threat amounts to "sit on my ass and do nothing while Tsukune's group risks their lives in my place." Best displayed in Act III chapters 40-44; both Kuyou and a Fairy Tale armada invade and attack Yokai Academy one after the other, and instead of trying to stop them, he sits back and watches as Tsukune's group fights them back in his stead.
* AesopAmnesia: Kokoa suffers from this at first. In Act I, she's single-mindedly attracted to Dark despite the fact that he's only interested in Mizore, and it's only after Dark explicitly tells her to her face that he has no interest in her, along with the realization that chasing after him has negatively affected her pride, which Kokoa constantly boasts about, that Kokoa realizes her mistake and backs off. Come Act II, she's completely forgotten this lesson and goes so far as to invoke a sacred vampire pact, punishable by death if broken, with Moka in an attempt to have Tsukune to herself; the others even point out how pathetic it is that Kokoa didn't learn her lesson in not chasing after boys who are already taken the first time. When Kokoa loses the pact, and subsequently realizes that Tsukune only loves Moka and what she would have taken from him had she won, she finally seems to learn her lesson, and this time, it actually sticks.
* AffablyEvil[=/=]FauxAffablyEvil:
** For all of his BlueAndOrangeMorality, Hex is quite pleasant and polite, and doesn't particularly care if he loses at his game; it's all a part of luck, after all.
** Jovian and Jacqueline often act polite and sweet, even managing to earn the trust of Kyouko and Tsukune's mom by acting as such. Regardless, they're both unrepentant Psycho Lesbians and sadists who revel in causing others pain, especially by raping those Hokuto has them hold hostage. The new Jovian and Jacqueline under Talon's control in Act VI are considerably more genuine AffablyEvil.
** Hokuto also acts polite and refined, while openly declaring life itself to be evil and meaningless.
** Evil!Falla can also act and speak polite when it suits her, but all the same, she's a complete Jerkass who is literally incapable of caring about anyone but herself.
* AffectionateNickname:
** Dark often calls Mizore his "little snow bunny."
** Felucia calls Mizore "slushy," initially as an insult, but as she warms up to her, it becomes more affectionate.
** Kurumu calls Rason "angel boy." Of course, he doesn't like it when anyone but Kurumu calls him that.
* AggressiveCategorism[=/=]VanHelsingHateCrimes:
** Most of Rason's fellow angels adamantly refuse to see monsters as anything but savage beasts, while looking to humans as near-pristine examples of goodness. Rason was actually banished from Heaven in the past because he saved a monster from a human. It took Rason's efforts to save Luna and Falla from his fellow angels, as well as direct interference from God Himself, to get the angels to start thinking differently, and by the end of Act IV, they have all finally accepted that monsters can be good too, even allowing them into Heaven.
** The Human Defense Agency, or [=HDA=], that came into being after Alucard's attack and the subsequent exposure of monsters, is also fairly quick to write off all monsters as evil simply because of the actions of a few people, with one soldier flat-out telling Moka and Akasha to their faces that, as far as he's concerned, monsters like them aren't even animals. However, Moka and Akasha's efforts in Act VI with their director, who is actually not so black-and-white, seem to be making some progress.
* AintTooProudToBeg:
** In Act I chapter 20, Kokoa begs Dark not to reject her; Inner Moka is quick to call her out on it, remarking that after all her talk about vampire pride, Kokoa is still stooping as low as to beg a boy who is already taken for his love.
** In Act VI chapter 35, when Talon remarks that he'll simply give Jovian and Jacqueline the order to be free because he doesn't want them to be his slaves, the two let out a BigNo before getting down on their knees and begging him not to do so.
* TheAlcoholic: In the flashback in Act IV chapter 29, when Felucia asks Kenzo what's stopping her from just wiping out humanity herself, Kenzo points out that part of it is because she tends to stop and get plastered at the first bar she sees.
* AllAnimalsAreDogs: In Act VI chapter 22, after Fang Fang's phoenix nearly incinerates Complica and Arial, Fang Fang actually scolds it as if it were a puppy.
* AllForNothing:
** Throughout Act III, Akua and Kahlua willingly work for Kiria and aid him in his plan to rewrite history with the Chrono Displacement spell, going to such lengths as stealing said spell from their father's secret archive, turning themselves into hybrids with Alucard's blood, and killing numerous innocents, because they hoped to make Issa one of the top rulers of the new world that Kiria intended to create. They're naturally horrified when they discover that they were nothing but Kiria's Unwitting Pawns and that part of his EvilPlan would have involved having the two infected with Blackheart and sent back in time to destroy Issa's empire from within so he would be the strongest monster of them all, which is anything but what they wanted; they spend the entirety of Act IV trying to atone for their actions. To further drive the nail in, Kiria's plan was doomed to fail from the start, as if Tsukune and the others had fallen, Luna would have killed Kiria herself and then let the Chrono Displacement spell go critical and destroy everything in a fit of madness.
** During the final chapters of Act V, the actions of Babylon's minions lead the [=HDA=] to declare war on monsters, leading them to arrest and quarantine any monster they can find and drive the dark lords out of the human world. After some events, however, they realize by Act VI chapter 52 that their efforts were in vain; Babylon had been targeting the monster world all along, and the humans were unfortunate enough to get caught in the crossfire.
* AllMenArePerverts:
** As noted by Apoch and Astreal in Act I chapter 11, the vast majority of the boys at Yokai Academy are perverts, bullies, or both.
** In Act VI, Render is also quite excited to see Apoch and Astreal's fights over which of them has bigger breasts, said fights typically resulting in ClothingDamage.
* AllMythsAreTrue: Discussed and largely defied in Act VI chapter 43. Kyouko mentions several different kinds of monster myths, such as silver bullets killing werewolves, sirens luring men to their deaths, and witches flying on broomsticks and eating children, and the gang all dismiss them as ridiculous, even stating that wooden stakes through the heart and getting shot with silver bullets would kill anyone. Kurumu, however, mentions that succubi can drain the life force out of the men they have sex with, but as she puts it, said succubus would have to "be a bitch" to do so.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Throughout much of Act III, most of the other students ostracize and harass Tsukune and his friends, believing them to be Fake Ultimate Heroes claiming to fight Fairy Tale. However, the disrespect and criticism all comes to an end when the students see the gang fight off Kuyou and a Fairy Tale squadron firsthand.
* AllWitchesHaveCats: Discussed and defied along with many other monster myths in Act VI chapter 43. When Kyouko mentions the myth that witches keep black cats as pets, Ruby states that she's allergic to cats (though not Cat Girls like Ms. Nekonome).
* AloofBigSister: The original Falla took this trope UpToEleven, noted as always being cold to Complica and not treating her like a sister at all. On top of it all, she informed Complica of how to cast the Chrono Displacement spell so as to go back in time and spend one more day with her crush while deliberately neglecting to inform her that the spell would kill her the next day (though it's revealed in Act VI that Complica knew it would happen all along) and then explicitly telling Luna to her face that she was glad Complica was dead.
* AlternateIdentityAmnesia: In Acts II and III, Tsukune typically blacks out and has no idea of what happened when the ghoul is in control.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Apoch and Astreal Ezrana are identical except for their hair and eye colors: Apoch has short black hair and SupernaturalGoldEyes, whereas Astreal has long blond hair and black eyes.
* AlwaysInClassOne: So far, all of the school-aged [=OCs=] (Rason, Dark, Felucia, Ahakon, Luna, etc.) have ended up in Ms. Nekonome's class with Tsukune and his friends. Rason even lampshades it.
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: Mizore is Dark's top priority no matter what. If he so much as suspects that her life is in danger, he'll do anything short of killing his closest friends to protect her.
* AmbiguousDisorder:
** Complica has always had a problem with her train of thought, has a short attention span, and her mind constantly runs at full speed. In Act VI chapter 19, she seemingly hallucinates four copies of herself while taking a bath.
** Arial also has shades of this; her mental processes run on SelectiveObliviousness and InsaneTrollLogic, and it's shown time and time again that she's capable of extreme violence and fits of UnstoppableRage that rival the ComicBook/IncredibleHulk. Needless to say, Moka and the others have openly called her insane on multiple occasions.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Kurumu claims Rason as her Destined One, but in Act VI chapter 36, she's a little too eager to fondle Apoch and Astreal's breasts to determine which sister has the bigger bust size.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: While the original Jovian and Jacqueline were nothing but pure evil through and through, the new Kikions summoned by Talon during Act VI are considerably more sympathetic, having several instances of genuine compassion and empathy.
* AmbitionIsEvil: The original Falla's desire to become queen led to her killing her own father and then destroying her homeland and entire species in a fit of rage, deciding if she couldn't be queen of their kingdom, then they would all fade into time.
* AmnesiacDissonance: In Act IV, Falla's AlternateSelf cannot remember anything of her past except her name due to a head injury. When she regains her memories in chapter 22 thanks to Lilith's Mirror, she's horrified to discover just what an evil monster she was.
* AnArmAndALeg:
** As shown in his flashback in Act I chapter 18, the very first thing Dark did when he turned on his old master was chop off his hand.
** In Act II chapter 25, Dark tears off all of Miyabi's limbs one by one, though not before he crushes all of the bones in said limbs to powder.
** In Act III chapter 52, Ghoul!Tsukune tears off Kiria's arms as well.
** In Act IV chapter 29, Apoch chops off one of Jovian's hands before finishing her off.
** In Act V chapter 35, Evil!Falla gleefully tears her Good Counterpart's leg, arm, and wings off. Good!Falla's body is subsequently repaired by Ceal.
** In Act VI chapter 35, Kahlua gets her arm chopped off by Jacqueline. After Ten-Ten rescues them, she reattaches the arm using special slug-like creatures.
** In Act VI chapter 40, Hex demonstrates his power by severing Issa's hand with a spatial blade and then reattaching it.
** Ceal's left hand was severed and destroyed as a result of Pandora's JackassGenie tendencies; he replaced it with one created from the body mass of a necro demon.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: In Act IV chapter 23, Hokuto forces Tsukune and co. to hand Moka over to him by revealing that he has had Jovian and Jacqueline take Kyouko and Tsukune's mother hostage.
* AnatomicallyImpossibleSex:
** In Act VI chapter 26, when Luna discovers that Pandora enjoys making love with the various monsters trapped in the box with her, she's completely shocked, considering the fact that Pandora has the appearance of a little girl and the monsters in question are much bigger than she is.
** In Act VI chapter 41, Sun, Kurumu, and Ran end up seeing Kokoa having sex with Gin in his werewolf form, and are astonished at the seeming physical impossibility of the task due to the latter's sheer endowment.
-->Kurumu: You think she's using any lubricant?\\
Ran: What?! That's the stupidest thing you could say right now! Of course she would have to be using lubricant. For God's sake, if she didn't, he would have ruined her from the very start!
* AndIMustScream:
** When Ghaldin tracks them down and seizes control back over them, Apoch and Astreal are involuntarily forced to fight Tsukune and the others, fully conscious of their actions and unable to control themselves all the while. Dark, having also been controlled, is aware of his actions as well, and as soon as he's freed when Inner Moka kills Ghaldin, he promptly takes to PummelingTheCorpse in a rage.
** After being defeated by Luna, Falla was stranded in the time stream, with nothing better to do than shift all over time and the monster world.
** In Act III chapter 12, it's stated that Kokoa's ghoul infection led her to force herself on Tsukune; all the while, Kokoa can do nothing but watch helplessly and try in vain to stop.
** In Act V chapter 10, it's revealed that all of those controlled by the Otonashi sisters are conscious and aware while being controlled. It also works in a positive way, as Tsukune and the guys, while under their control, are able to hear the siren sisters praying to the Almighty for their freedom from their master Babylon, and for forgiveness for being forced to do his bidding, which is what motivates them to help free the trio from Babylon's control.
** In Act V chapter 35, it's stated that the brainwashed Apoch and Astreal are fully conscious of their actions and can do nothing but watch as they're forced to fight their friends against their will.
* AndShowItToYou:
** In Act II, Dark finishes off Miyabi by ripping his spine out of his body.
** In the final chapter of Act III, Ghoul!Tsukune rips several of Kiria's organs out with his bare hands.
* AndThenWhat: When Moka kills their master, thus freeing them, Apoch and Astreal admit that they never really thought about what they would do with their lives after getting their freedom. Ruby solves the problem by making them her assistants.
* AndYourLittleDogToo:
** In Act III chapter 41, Kuyou states that, while he did come back to Yokai Academy for revenge on Tsukune, he also plans to kill everyone else there because he finds the idea of human/monster coexistence disgusting. Sure enough, the very first thing he does upon arriving is incinerate Astreal, who had never even met him and had nothing to do with his past, ForTheEvulz.
** In Act IV chapter 11, after revealing that her attempts at redemption were all an act, Falla tells Tsukune that when she's finished killing them, she'll visit Tsukune's mom and cousin and show them just "what kind of friend" she really is. When she's losing the subsequent fight, during her VillainousBreakdown, she declares that she'll hunt down the entire group's families and kill them as well. Fortunately, she doesn't live long enough to make good on it.
** As revealed in Act VI chapter 53, this is Gyokuro's plan for the Blackheart-enhanced clones of Moka, Ruby, Kokoa, Kurumu, Mizore, and Yukari: to have them destroy everyone and everything the originals hold dear before killing the girls themselves.
* AngelicBeauty: In Act III, Ahakon describes Apoch and Astreal as such.
* AngerBornOfWorry: In Act II chapter 25, after saving Mizore from her suicide attempt, Kurumu angrily slaps her before tearfully demanding to know why she tried to kill herself.
* AntiHero:
** Dark Kuyumaya is a Type II or III. He's undoubtedly on the side of good and protective of his friends, but kills and injures with little-to-no hesitation. However, as he explains in Act VI chapter 45, he doesn't kill without reason.
** Ceal Erres, which is best displayed in Act VI chapter 1. While the others had agreed not to kill any [=HDA=] operatives while breaking Moka and the others out, Ceal dismisses that and promptly starts killing any operatives who oppose them, flat-out stating that if someone gets in his way, they die.
* AntiHumanAlliance: Fairy Tale, though they're not above recruiting humans as scientists and soldiers.
* AntiVillain:
** Akua and Kahlua during Act III. They're working for Fairy Tale because they intend to put their father on top of the new world order Kiria plans to create. After they discover that Kiria in fact planned to infect them with Blackheart and then send them back to kill their father, they have a HeelRealization, and are allies of the group from Act IV onwards.
** Talon Ryashen is a Type I or II. He's hunting down everyone who was ever associated with Fairy Tale in any way, regardless of whether or not they defected or were even aware of the organization's true agenda. However, as he puts it, they turned him into a monster and took everything from him, and thus, he pretty much has nothing left to live for but revenge.
** Jovian and Jacqueline Kikion. As they explain in Act VI, they're not naturally good or evil on their own; rather, their morality is shaped to match their master's at the time. The original Kikions served Hokuto, who was a StrawNihilist seeking to bring about TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt, so they themselves became sadistic Psycho Lesbians who take their time to rape Felucia and Kyouko while holding them hostage. The new Jovian and Jacqueline who were summoned by Talon, who, while misguided and driven by vengeance against Fairy Tale, is not actually evil, and are thus far more affable and sympathetic, even comforting Rin.
* AnythingYouCanDoICanDoBetter: Leon says this exact phrase word-for-word twice while fighting Jovian and Jacqueline in Act V, first when he initially copies their powers, and then as a PreMortemOneLiner when he uses a WaveMotionGun to vaporize Jacqueline from the waist up.
* ApocalypseHow:
** Act III features the group rushing to stop Kiria from bringing about a Class 3a; by using Chrono Displacement, he intended to use Tsukune's inner ghoul to travel back to the Battle of Kahdaln and wipe out humanity, thus allowing monsterkind to rule the world.
** Act IV features the threat of Class 6; Hokuto intended to revive Alucard and then sit back and relax as Alucard wiped out all life on Earth, human and monster alike.
** Act VII features a Class Z; multiple Alternate Universes and Alternate Timelines have been destroyed, with the mainstream universe facing the same threat within seven days. It's heavily implied in the Act VII preview chapter published at the end of Act VI that Discord, the Blackheart-enhanced clone of Luna created by Gyokuro to serve as a new Alucard under Fairy Tale's control, is responsible.
* ArbitrarySkepticism:
** Despite living in a world filled with all manner of monsters and demons, Ahakon is genuinely shocked to see Kou, a talking bat. Kurumu even lampshades it.
** In Acts V and VI, the [=HDA=], despite knowing of and accepting the existence of monsters and magic, find the idea of TimeTravel ridiculous, at least until the final chapters of Act VI.
* ArcVillain:
** Act I: Ghaldin Rayazo, then Dahlzin Aragaso
** Act II: Fairy Tale and Tsukune's ghoul form
** Act III: Kiria Yoshi
** Act IV: Hokuto Kaneshiro and Alucard
** Acts V and VI: Babylon
** Act VII: Gyokuro Shuzen
* ArcWords: "A life is a life, no matter what it is."
** Hokuto later twists it to his own nihilistic views ("A life is a life. And all lives are trash.").
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: In Act VI chapter 32, after being saved by Talon, Rin, being a bit of a ditz, genuinely believes that he's going to rape her and is surprised when he insists otherwise.
* ArmiesAreEvil: Babylon's army is as evil as they come, though quite a few of them are BrainwashedAndCrazy.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: In Act VI chapter 48, Mizore, getting tired of Arial's blatant favoritism of Felucia over her, asks how she can get on Arial's good side, to which Fang Fang suggests that Mizore just needs to be nicer to her, leading to this:
-->Mizore: I've been on my best behavior with her. I even saved her ungrateful soul's life earlier. How can I possibly be nicer to her?\\
[Fang Fang tries to come up with a suitable answer, but cannot]\\
Mizore: Yeah, exactly.
* ArmorPiercingSlap:
** In Act II chapter 25, after thwarting Mizore's attempted suicide, Kurumu slaps her twice while demanding to know what she was thinking.
** In Act III chapter 1, Kokoa also slaps Tsukune when he continues to insist that his transformation into a ghoul wasn't entirely her fault because she was tricked, insisting that it was her fault because she was so easily tricked and should have realized the truth.
** In Act VI chapter 21, Sivia slaps Rathieal while chewing him out for sending so many monsters after Luna without Babylon's authorization. Subverted; instead of just standing there and taking it, Rathieal kills her on the spot because he HatesBeingTouched.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking:
** In Act IV chapter 34, Issa has this to say after the Day of Alucard:
-->Issa: I trusted my daughters to you, boy, and what do I get in return? Alucard is revived and nearly destroys the world because you couldn't keep Moka safe. The humans now know of monsters everywhere because you couldn't keep things quiet. And my youngest daughter is running around half-naked.
** In Act VI chapter 47, Ageha remarks on the parents' situation:
-->Ageha: My daughter could have been killed, I may never see her again, and on top of all that, I'm stuck riding in a low-class school bus in the human world with a driver who smells like an ashtray!
** Moka has a similar reaction in Act VI chapter 50 after being brought up to speed on everything that had happened while she was negotiating with the [=HDA=], leading to this exchange:
-->Moka: Yokai Academy is destroyed? A reality bender saved Luna? Arial's not insane about Dark anymore?\\
Arial: Hey, I'm not crazy. And why am I being compared to those other things?
* ArtificialHuman[=/=]PureMagicBeing: Apoch and Astreal, as well as Jovian and Jacqueline, are summoned beings created by magic.
* Artists: The Cii sisters are all noted on multiple occasions to be extremely talented at drawing.
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: In Act VI chapter 52, Complica is seemingly erased from existence due to the cost of Chrono Displacement. However, Hex reveals that instead of having her soul destroyed, Complica actually became an anomaly in existence similar to him; though even Hex is unsure what exactly became of Complica or where she ended up, he does know that Complica is still alive in some form. Come the first chapter of Act VII, and Complica returns as an AnthropomorphicPersonification of time.
* AscendedFangirl: Ran began to idolize Ahakon after witnessing him aid in Alucard's defeat, and is a friend of his from Act V onwards.
* AssholeVictim[=/=]KickTheSonOfABitch:
** The wizard who originally summoned Dark and forced him to kill Arial. When a guy has no qualms against doing something that even the most vile demons of Hell find despicable, you know he had it coming when Dark turns on him and brutally murders him in a rage.
** In Act I chapter 14, no one regrets the death of Ghaldin, particularly since he forced the Ezrana twins, as well as Rason and Dark, to try to kill Tsukune's posse while explicitly stating that Apoch and Astreal are nothing but his slaves for him to use as he wishes.
** Later, in Act I chapter 16, when Dark overhears that Kotsubo tried to molest Mizore the previous year, he loses his temper and nearly kills him, and is only stopped by Tsukune and Rason's insistence that Kotsubo isn't worth it.
** In Act II, when they discover that Miyabi raped Mizore, Dark is so furious that he attacks Miyabi and kills him in the slowest and most brutal manner possible; despite being horrified at Dark's brutality, Tsukune and the others nonetheless have NoSympathy for Miyabi and unanimously agree that he deserved every second of it.
** In Act III, Kano repeatedly blackmails the girls of the group into letting him take dirty pictures of them, and then ultimately decides to try to rape them. Cue KarmicDeath in chapter 31 when Luna uses her magic to stop time and then bites off the back of his head just as he's about to force himself on Mizore.
** In Act IV chapter 28, Jovian and Jacqueline are killed by Apoch and Astreal. Considering that they had previously raped Felucia and Kyouko and reduced a good portion of Tsukune's hometown to rubble, they definitely had it coming, with Ahakon and Yukari in particular openly rejoicing their deaths.
** After everything Hokuto has done, including kidnapping and brainwashing Felucia, setting Kuyou loose on Yokai Academy, letting Jovian and Jacqueline rape and torture Felucia to the point of SanitySlippage, holding Tsukune's family hostage, and being indirectly responsible for the deaths of Felucia, Kenzo's gang, and the original Ezrana sisters, the entire gang cheers Tsukune on as he beats the ever-loving shit out of Hokuto and kills him in Act IV chapter 31.
** After all of the horrible atrocities she's committed, including wiping out her entire species and razing a human city to the ground, no one has any sympathy to spare for Evil!Falla both times she dies.
** Early on in Act VI, Ceal kills Jenner, head of the [=HDA=]. It's pretty hard to feel sorry for Jenner when one considers that he was an openly anti-monster GeneralRipper who has spent most of his screen-time lambasting monsters to the extent that he outright states he'll take any possible excuse he can to declare open war on them.
** In Act VI chapter 17, Kurumu sides with Mizore after Mizore beats Arial to a bloody pulp, stating that, even if Arial is a disembodied soul and any fatal damage will destroy her soul and erase her from existence, Arial nonetheless deserved it considering the fact that she nearly killed Mizore in a fit of jealousy and stole her wedding ring.
** In Act VI chapters 24 and 25, Rathieal is noted to have regularly tortured the Otonashi sisters with their Slave Collars ForTheEvulz, and spends his entire fight with Gabriel gloating about the sexual abuse Luna suffered in Babylon's captivity. Needless to say, it's incredibly difficult not to cheer when he's obliterated by Astreal's Artimus Arrow along with the rylo.
* TheAtoner:
** Dark's entire motivation is to atone for the lives he was forced to take while working for first his former master, and then Fairy Tale.
** In Act III, because she was responsible for the ghoul managing to get enough power to hijack Tsukune's body completely, Kokoa swears fealty to Tsukune in atonement.
** After regaining her memories, Falla seeks to atone for her own crimes.
** In Act IV, Akua and Kahlua also seek to make up for what they did while working for Fairy Tale.
* AttemptedRape:
** In the past, Rason saved Luna from being raped by a male human.
** In Act III chapter 31, after forcing the girls into several pornographic picture sessions, Kano decides to have his way with them, starting with Mizore. However, Luna uses her magic to break herself and the others free, and then eats the entire back half of Kano's head.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny:
** In the flashback in Act IV chapter 29, Kenzo mentions that Felucia has a short attention span; Felucia proves him right by drifting off and absently looking out the window while he's talking to her.
** After said flashback ends, while discussing his plan to use Akua as their "Tsukune detector," Dark explains that Akua is the only one who can do so because Moka is still badly injured, Kokoa would pass out from the force of Tsukune's aura before they manage to get a solid reading, and Kahlua is absentmindedly looking off in the distance while he's explaining all this.
* AttentionWhore: Mizore's first impression of Felucia Sonsta is that she's "a tramp who just barges in and demands all the attention from everybody around her."
* AwfulTruth: Throughout the first handful of chapters in Act VI, Mizore and the others try to keep Dark from discovering that Arial, whom he had long honored and looked up to as his guardian angel, is really a stubborn, hot-tempered Yandere who is obsessed with him to the point that she very nearly killed Mizore in a jealous rage and stole Mizore's wedding ring right off of her finger. They ultimately have no choice but to tell Dark the truth after Mizore and Arial have a DesignatedGirlFight that ends with Mizore beating Arial to an inch of her life right in front of him, and Dark has a major HeroicBSOD. The chapter in which he finds out is fittingly titled "Painful Truth."
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** Kokoa's overcharge grants her enough power to go toe-to-toe with Inner Moka, but even the slightest attack completely depletes her energy, and if she doesn't use it up, it can lead to a SuperpowerMeltdown.
** The Artimus Arrow spell, as seen in Act VI, is powerful enough to one-shot a NighInvulnerable rylo demon, but draws so much power from the magical ether that, according to Yukari and Ruby, if they even tried to hold it, the power behind it would cause their bodies to literally explode.
* AxCrazy[=/=]InsaneEqualsViolent:
** Tsukune's ghoul form counts to a T. In Act III chapter 52, when unleashed, he proceeds to brutally dismember and disembowel Kiria with his bare hands, laughing while he does it.
** Jovian and Jacqueline also qualify, particularly the originals who served Hokuto. In Act III chapter 52, when Hokuto warns Felucia that Jovian will kill Ruby and Tsukune if Felucia won't hold them back, Jovian gleefully cheers that she loves killing. During their major fights in Acts IV and V, they deliberately go above and beyond to kill as many innocent people and cause as much collateral damage as possible simply, in their words, "because it's fun." The resummoned Jovian and Jacqueline in Act VI are considerably more mellow.
** Hokuto has shades of this, though he maintains his MaskOfSanity throughout. He has absolutely zero qualms against resorting to extreme violence to further his plans, such as manipulating Kuyou into attacking Yokai Academy and personally ordering Jovian and Jacqueline to cause as much destruction and death in Tsukune's hometown as possible in an effort to prove to Moka that human/monster co-existence is impossible; in both cases, he takes time out from his plans to watch the results with a PsychoticSmirk on his face.
** Arial often comes across as this in Act VI, in part due to her HairTriggerTemper and obsession with Dark; in chapter 7, the very first thing she does as soon as she discovers that Mizore is Dark's girlfriend is use her ice claws to literally tear Mizore apart in a jealous rage right in front of everybody; by the end, Mizore is so horrifically injured that Ceal has to transfer organic matter from deceased [=HDA=] officers to actually heal her. The others even outright describe her as insane on more than one occasion.
** Even without chrono dementia, Evil!Falla is a sadistic, sociopathic bitch who can slaughter people by the handful without hesitation, while laughing about it.
** While Kokoa has always had a HairTriggerTemper, she dips into AxCrazy during Act VI chapter 44, becoming so enraged at Sun for hounding Gin that she punches her through a wall, chases Felucia and Sun through the Huangs' villa while attacking them in a blind rage, and finally has to be chained up by her friends while she growls and snaps at them like a vicious dog.
** While Dark is generally composed and calm, he can dip into this when suitably enraged. If he should ever reach that point, don't expect the offending party's corpse to look pretty by the time he's through. A prime example is with Miyabi Fujisaki, who took Mizore's virginity and gloated about it to Dark's face during Act II; Dark's subsequent killing of MiyabiHe, in this order, crushed the bones in Miyabi's arms and legs to powder before ripping said arms and legs clean off, punched him in the face so hard that his jawbone snapped clean off, and finally ripped his spinal cord out, all with his bare hands is so over-the-top that despite agreeing that Miyabi deserved every second of it, Tsukune and co. are still genuinely horrified at Dark's brutality.
** As revealed in Act VI chapter 52, the Fairy Tale-created EvilKnockoff of Moka is little more than a savage animal. As stated by Xia-Long in Act VII chapter 3, the only way to stop said EvilKnockoff once she has her sights set on someone is to "give her someone else to kill instead of you."
* BabyFactory: In Acts V and VI, this is Babylon's plan for Luna and Falla: to capture them and have them raped by his henchmen to breed more chronoflies for his army. The Otonashi sisters state that he's done this before with other endangered species.
* BackFromTheDead[=/=]DeathIsCheap: Several examples:
** In Act II, Kurumu is killed by duplicates of Apoch and Astreal under Fairy Tale's control, but Rason manages to convince the Almighty and the Lord of Hell to bring her back to life.
** Both Dark and the Ezrana sisters have been killed, but return to life typically by being resummoned.
** In the climax of Act III, everyone in the group except for Tsukune himself dies during the assault on Kiria's stronghold, but Tsukune uses the Chrono Displacement spell to reverse time by a day and prevent their deaths.
** In Act V, after being rejected by a mind-controlled Rason, Kurumu literally dies of a broken heart, but a quick GetAholdOfYourselfMan from the Lord of Hell down below snaps her out of her funk and convinces her to go back.
** In Act VI, Akasha is resurrected by the Almighty as part of a RedemptionQuest, though she herself is unaware that she has been truly brought back until Hex informs her as such in chapter 51.
* BadBoss:
** In his short appearance in Act I, Ghaldin physically abuses the Ezrana sisters and declares them to be nothing more than his slaves and weapons for him to use as he pleases. Small wonder why they ran away from him.
** Fairy Tale has several examples of this:
*** As shown in Act VI, many of Gyokuro's subordinates are scared of her and try to avoid crossing her in any way. Justified when one considers the enormous power she possesses.
*** In Act VII, immediately after revealing to a scientist that Kurumu's EvilKnockoff "feeds on the life force of men," Xia-Long promptly steps back and watches as said EvilKnockoff pounces on the aforementioned scientist and subjects him to a VampiricDraining DeathBySex, nonchalantly commenting on how many other "peons" they've had to feed to her. Mere seconds later, when Moka's knockoff, having been established as a NighInvulnerable AxCrazy beast, breaks free from her restraints, Xia-Long again jumps to safety while she attacks a mook that he was talking to and rips him to shreds.
*** The CloneArmy of Apoch and Astreal that Fairy Tale created back in Act II suffered so much abuse at their hands that they eventually snapped and turned on them en masse.
*** Kiria has quite the disregard for his own troops. In Act II chapter 25, he deliberately stands by and watches as Dark fights and kills Miyabi, even personally helping Dark by giving him a sword while deeming Miyabi's death a "necessary sacrifice." Furthermore, a significant chunk of his plan in Act III involves infecting most of his troops with Blackheart, a PsychoSerum that drives those who take it insane and kills them after one hour.
* TheBadGuyWins: During the climax of Act IV, Hokuto, as part of his plan, deliberately breaks TheMasquerade to the entire human world in order to prove to Moka that humans and monsters could never possibly co-exist. It takes some time, but soon the entire human world becomes afraid of monsters. Ultimately subverted by the end of Act VI.
* BadIsGoodAndGoodIsBad: Evil!Falla appears to run on this mentality. She's firmly convinced that, as a power-hungry warmonger, she deserved to be the queen more than Luna, whom she outright criticized and viewed as unworthy to have the crown for being a NiceGirl. In Act IV chapter 13, after successfully tricking Luna into restoring her magic, Falla openly complains about all the "nice crap" she had to do/endure just to get Luna to cooperate.
* Badass: Several examples, but most notably Dark; in Act I chapter 20, he has a sparring match with Inner Moka in order to prove a point to Kokoa, and it's more-or-less outright stated that Inner Moka only beat him because ILetYouWin Dark was ILetYouWin trying ILetYouWin to lose.
* BadassBoast:
** In Act II chapter 25, after brutally tearing Miyabi to pieces, Dark gives out one as he rips out his spinal cord to finish him off:
-->Dark: Know this, Miyabi. I will hunt down every last Fairy Tale member for this act. I will murder them all. I will show you all what happens when you mess with a shadow demon!
** In Act IV chapter 31, Tsukune gives out one of his own to Hokuto right before kicking his ass:
-->Tsukune: Hokuto... I'm going to tear you apart for what you've done. I'll fucking send you to Hell for all the pain you've caused. You will never be forgiven for this. Now... KNOW YOUR PLACE!!
* BadassCape: Ahakon and Razico wear a red and black one, respectively.
* BadassTeacher: In Act III chapter 41, Ms. Nekonome bravely stands up to Kuyou of all people, reminding him that he is no longer welcome at Yokai Academy and ordering him to get out. While she does lose some of her bravado when Kuyou draws his sword and comes after her, just the simple fact that she's willing to stand up to an anti-human KnightTemplar who needs very little provocation to reduce humans and monsters alike to smoldering piles of ash in the first place qualifies her for this.
* BaitAndSwitch: In Act III chapter 11, when the rest of the group are outside of Tsukune's room reacting in shock, Moka initially assumes that they're referring to Tsukune's cracked Holy Lock and responds in kind... until she walks into the room and sees they were actually shocked at the sight of Kokoa pinning Tsukune down and raping him.
* BaitAndSwitchComment: In Act VI chapter 36, when Apoch and Astreal are about to attack Kurumu and Yukari for fondling their breasts to see which sister's were bigger rather than using a tape measurer that was near them the entire time, Razico tells them to "hold it," seemingly intending to stop the fight. Instead, he points out that the gang's little squabbles have already caused Fang Fang enough property damage, and orders them to take it outside.
* BaitAndSwitchGunshot: In Act III chapter 51, after Ruby returns from destroying the Chrono Displacement spell, we hear a gunshot and it's initially assumed that she was shot by a Fairy Tale operative like in the original timeline. As it turns out, Dark saw the operative coming and shot him first.
* BareHandedBladeBlock:
** In Act III chapter 41, Dark pulls one off against Kuyou, and then breaks the sword with his bare hands.
** In Act III chapter 52, Ghoul!Tsukune pulls one off on Kiria's SinisterScythe arm before ripping said arm clean off.
** In Act IV chapter 31, Tsukune blocks two of Hokuto's scythes as such before jerking him forward and kneeing him in the face.
* BareYourMidriff: Astreal takes to wearing a belly-bearing tank top from the end of Act IV onwards.
* BaseballEpisode: In Act VI chapter 52, with the knowledge that Complica will shortly perish as a result of the Chrono Displacement spell, the entire group rigs up a big baseball game and stadium for her to have fun in her last moments, knowing that Complica is a baseball fan.
* BatmanGambit:
** Tsukune's inner ghoul combines this with LoveMakesYouDumb in Act II; by exploiting Kokoa's newfound feelings for Tsukune, it successfully manipulates her into giving it enough power from her overcharge to become a full-fledged ghoul and take over Tsukune's body completely, and Kokoa is too blinded by said feelings for Tsukune to notice anything suspicious until it's too late.
** In Act III, Hokuto's plan to use Kuyou as a distraction while he steals the ArtifactOfDoom he needs for his plans from Yokai Academy's archives hinged solely on Kuyou's desire for revenge on Tsukune. It works like a charm.
** In Act III chapter 13, with the revelation that Tsukune's Holy Lock is cracking, Dark claims that he's only keeping Tsukune alive so that Kokoa can atone for her actions and regain her vampire pride, after which he'll kill him to prevent the ghoul from surfacing. However, as Mizore and Felucia explain, if Dark hadn't mentioned Kokoa's debt to Tsukune and act like it was still safe, the headmaster would have had Tsukune killed, knowing that Dark would be the first to kill Tsukune if the ghoul posed any threat; in doing so, Dark has bought the group time to find a way to repair the lock.
* BatterUp: In Act V chapter 37, Kyouko deals the finishing blow to the evil Falla by beating her to a pulp with a baseball bat.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor:
** In Act III chapter 40, after being forced to kiss Jovian in exchange for her repairing Tsukune's Holy Lock, Astreal remarks that she'd rather die than do that again. Kuyou makes his entrance at that very moment and, having overheard Astreal say that, burns her alive for the hell of it.
** In Act III chapter 44, the headmaster confesses that all along, he had planned to shape Tsukune and co. into their soldiers against Fairy Tale, but states that, since Tsukune's Holy Lock has only one link left before it breaks, he shouldn't fight anymore. Dark promptly gets in his face, tells him that they're his soldiers against Fairy Tale now just like he wanted, and makes it clear that Tsukune will continue to fight with them whether the headmaster likes it or not.
** Throughout Act III, Kiria had hoped to unleash Tsukune's ghoul form for his plans. In the final chapter of Act III, Tsukune, about to die anyway as a result of the cost of using Chrono Displacement, deliberately removes the Holy Lock and unleashes the ghoul, which promptly tears Kiria apart.
-->Rason: He gave Kiria what he wanted after all... he made sure the bastard wouldn't survive.
** Several times during the climax of Act IV, Jovian and Jacqueline both remark that they want someone to "go splat." Astreal fulfills this desire by subjecting Jacqueline herself to a DisneyVillainDeath.
-->Apoch: You wanted someone to go splat, did you not?
** Gin always thought that Tsukune was crazy when he said that having a harem of girls fighting over you isn't such a good thing. In Act VI chapter 44, after Kokoa has put Sun in the infirmary after discovering that Sun spied on her and Gin having sex earlier, Gin finally begins to realize just where Tsukune was coming from.
* BeamOWar:
** In Act III chapter 24, during their DesignatedGirlFight over Ahakon, Yukari ends up in one with the Ezrana sisters, who begin to overpower her. Ahakon ultimately throws her out of the way and seemingly dies TakingTheBullet; fortunately, Luna jumps in just in time and saves him.
** In Act IV chapter 28, Astreal ends up in one with Jovian. The clash ends when Apoch steps in and chops Jovian's hand off with her LaserBlade.
* BecauseISaidSo: In Act IV chapter 16, the angels automatically go along with the Almighty's decision that Rason was right all along and monsters can indeed be good and evil just like humans because the Almighty's word is absolute (though one angel briefly protests it before Gabriel shuts him up).
* BenevolentBoss:
** For all of his flaws and insanity in Acts III and IV, Hokuto does treat Jovian and Jacqueline decently and with respect.
** In Act VI, Talon has this kind of relationship with Rin and the resummoned Kikion sisters. In chapter 53, he even states that he sees them as equals, not underlings.
* BerserkButton:
** Hurting or otherwise mistreating women in front of Dark in any way is essentially suicide.
** Mentioning Arial's HairTriggerTemper in front of her is a surefire way to get her to lose said temper.
** Jovian and Jacqueline do not like the idea of being duplicated or copied in any way. They personally slaughtered any other duplicates of themselves that Fairy Tale tried to create, and in Act V, they're livid when Leon copies their powers.
** As shown in Act VI chapter 47, despite her preferred lifestyle, Ageha is utterly indignant when Tsurara remarks that she looks like "a whore off the street."
* BewareTheNiceOnes:
** Tsukune is every bit an AllLovingHero willing to TurnTheOtherCheek in regards to those who wrong him, but piss him off enough and he will break you. Several of the various baddies (Kuyou, Hokuto, etc.) have discovered this the hard way.
** Apoch and Astreal are noted on multiple occasions to be quite pleasant and polite. That being said, when their patience is at an end, they have no qualms against blowing someone up.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Dark is well known among the Yokai student body as TheStoic, but it doesn't stop him from putting several bullies in the infirmary and going OneManArmy on a Fairy Tale squadron.
* BeyondTheImpossible:
** In Act II, the group is genuinely surprised when Tsukune comes to his senses and suppresses his ghoul form, as the transformation into a ghoul is stated to be irreversible by every credible source.
** In Acts V and VI, Babylon's powers enable the souls of the dead to leave the afterlife, which the angels of Heaven insist shouldn't be possible.
-->Gabriel: Whoever this monster is, he... defied the laws of life itself.
* BigBrotherInstinct:
** Astreal is extremely protective of Apoch.
** Hex's entire motive is to free his little sister Pandora from containment.
* BigDamnHeroes[=/=]JustInTime:
** In Act II chapter 22, Dark shows up just in time to save Tsurara and his friends from being executed by Fairy Tale.
** In Act III chapter 41, just as Kuyou is about to kill Ms. Nekonome with a sword, Dark intervenes; the sight of this is what finally convinces the other students that the rumors of the gang fighting Fairy Tale were true.
** In Act III chapter 44, just as Fairy Tale is beginning to overwhelm the gang, the entire Yokai student body, galvanized into action by the sight of Yukari running herself ragged to save them despite all of the mistreatment said students heaped on them, come charging out of the academy and help fight Fairy Tale off.
** In Act III chapter 50, Luna shows up just in time to stop Kiria from infecting Tsukune with Blackheart.
** In Act VI chapter 35, Ten-Ten Huang shows up in the nick of time to save Akua and Kahlua from Talon's wrath and get them to safety.
* BigNo: In Act VI chapter 35, Jovian and Jacqueline let out one when Talon remarks that he'll just order them to be free.
* BigShutUp:
** In Act III chapter 52, when Kiria is beginning to remark that he was wondering if Tsukune was going to make it, Tsukune promptly cuts him off:
-->Tsukune: Shut the fuck up, Kiria!!
** In Act VI chapter 44, after Arial hits Mizore in the forehead with an ice kunai, Kurumu starts to taunt her over how it feels, only to be cut off when Mizore screams, "Shut up, Kurumu!"
* BiggerIsBetterInBed[=/=]GagPenis: In Act VI chapter 41, Gin's penis in werewolf form is said to be so big that both Kurumu and Ran are shocked at how Kokoa can handle it without lubricant.
* BizarreAlienBiology: Xarai, Ceal's pet necro demon, is mentioned as having several stomachs.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality:
** Talon runs on this throughout Act VI. As far as he's concerned, anyone and everyone who was ever a part of Fairy Tale for any reason is irredeemably evil, equally responsible for what happened to him, and has to die. This includes Dark, Akua, and Kahlua, who defected from the organization and were instrumental in the defeat of Alucard.
** Invoked in Act VI chapter 52. With the newly-formed Monster Coalition branch of the [=HDA=], Moka outright tells everyone on national television that there are only two sides of the current conflict: those who stand for peace between humans and monsters, and those who don't, and they will not let anyone ruin the chance for peace.
* BlackComedyRape: In Act IV chapter 29, Akua succumbs to the effects of Tsukune's aura and goes crazy, causing her to start humping Dark in a public street. What really sells this as funny is Dark's completely deadpan reaction:
-->Dark: Well, this is awkward.
* BlackEyesOfEvil: Neither are exactly evil, but both Dark and Astreal have black eyes.
* BlackSheep: The original Falla; while the other members of her family were nice folks who preferred to live in peace, Falla was an AxCrazy Jerkass who only cared about herself and acquiring power for the sake of having power.
* Blackmail: In Act III chapters 30 and 31, Kano kidnaps all of the girls of the group, takes dirty pictures of them, and threatens to expose the photos to the whole school unless they continue to have such sessions with him and not tell anyone, eventually leading him to force Kokoa into a make-out session. The blackmail comes to an end after Luna kills him just as he's about to rape Mizore, and after Gin of all people finds the photos and has them disposed of.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder:
** Kahlua can morph one arm into a blade as a result of her infusion with Alucard's blood. As shown in Act IV chapter 27, her blade is durable enough to block one of Jovian's Hand Blasts, though not without causing her pain.
** Talon has one retractable blade in each arm thanks to Alucard's blood.
* BlondesAreEvil: Jacqueline, Astreal's EvilCounterpart, is blonde and AxCrazy. Averted in the case of Astreal.
* BloodFromEveryOrifice:
** In Act IV, an alternate Luna suffers this as her chrono dementia reaches deadly levels, bleeding from the mouth, nose, eyes, and ears.
** In Act IV chapter 20, Kokoa also suffers this as she tests just how far she can push her overcharge before undergoing a SuperpowerMeltdown.
* BloodFromTheMouth:
** In Act III chapter 12, Moka coughs up blood after taking a brutal kick to the gut from the ghoul-infected Kokoa; it's even outright stated that said kick nearly killed her on impact.
** In Act V chapter 11, Tsukune succumbs to his vampiric impulses and drinks Moka's blood, only to puke it back up when his body rejects it.
** In Act VI chapter 2, an [=HDA=] soldier starts bleeding from the mouth as Ceal has Xarai crush him to death.
* BloodMagic[=/=]ThePowerOfBlood:
** In Act II, Yukari accidentally cuts herself with one of her tarot cards, which was covered with a warlock's blood; said warlock's blood mixes with her own through the cut and gives her a power boost. Kokoa also gets a boost from the warlock after drinking his blood.
** In Act III, Ahakon comes across Dark's summoning spell, written on the walls of a cave in blood.
** Several of Fairy Tale's mooks and Super Soldiers, such as Akua, Kahlua, and the Kikion sisters, have been greatly enhanced by Alucard's blood.
** Moka's blood is the key to breaking Alucard's seal.
** After Hokuto beats Tsukune to near-death in Act IV, all four Shuzen sisters give him their blood to revive him, turning him into a full-fledged vampire that proceeds to wipe the floor with Hokuto.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality:
** Unlike their pure evil father Babylon, Hex and Pandora don't adhere to any real morality by human and monster standards. While they don't support their dad's plans of conquest, they don't particularly care if the Earth falls to him either, as "lesser beings" are beneath their concern.
** Jovian and Jacqueline also count to a degree. As they explain when they're resummoned in Act VI, their morality is shaped by their master(s), and they're not naturally good or evil on their own.
* BodyHorror: Ceal has done a variety of body modifications on himself, replacing his lost left hand with a scaly black one and assimilating the organic matter of Pandora's pets into his own body.
* BondageIsBad: As shown in Act III chapter 31, bondage is definitely bad when you're being blackmailed into it by a perverted CameraFiend like Kano.
-->Kano: So I got a thing for bondage. What guy doesn't?
* BorrowedCatchPhrase: Both Tsukune and Mizore have used Inner Moka's "Know your place!" on different occasions.
* BoxAndStickTrap: In Act IV. After rigging the entire girls' dorm with Death Traps in an effort to kill Moka, Falla's final trap is this, along with a blood pouch and a sign reading "Free Blood." Moka is actually offended that Falla thought she'd go for it.
* BoundAndGagged:
** In Act III chapter 52, after defeating Akua and Kahlua, Tsukune and co. detain them by tying them up back-to-back with chains.
** Happens to Kyouko in Act V chapter 35, courtesy of Jovian, Jacqueline, and Evil!Falla.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy:
** In Act I, Apoch and Astreal brainwash Dark and Rason with the intent to use them to fight off their evil master; the "crazy" part comes into play when Ghaldin catches up to them and uses it to his advantage by forcing the boys to do his bidding as well.
** During Act IV, Felucia is charmed by Jovian and Jacqueline to help Hokuto in his plan.
** In Act V, Apoch and Astreal are charmed by the revived Jovian and Jacqueline to help them get the keys to Pandora's Box. Unlike Felucia, they're fully conscious and aware while being controlled.
** Most of the monsters in Babylon's army were charmed by the Otonashi sisters.
* BrattyHalfPint: Arial Kuyumaya. As shown throughout Acts V and VI, she's stubborn, has a very short temper, and a big-time Jerkass, especially to Mizore.
* BreakTheCutie: Luna, in part due to her escalating chrono dementia. In Act VI chapter 37, while using his magic to cure said dementia, Ceal remarks that Luna's mind is so damaged that it's a miracle she can still walk and talk.
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu: In Act III chapter 47, Dark manages to destroy Kiria's Blackheart supply, but gets infected by it himself in the process, causing him to kill Mizore and Gin to pull off a HeroicSacrifice to stop him. He gets better.
* BrokenAngel: In Act VI, Gabriel loses his angelic powers after losing Hex's game; as a result, his wings lose their feathers and shrivel up. However, shortly afterwards, Ceal uses his magic to restore Gabriel's wings, though he cannot restore his grace. In chapter 46, he becomes a full angel again after kissing Luna.
* BrokenPedestal[=/=]RebuiltPedestal:
** Moka and Kokoa both respected Akua and Kahlua until they discover that the two had been working for Fairy Tale. When the two have switched sides and are being punished by their father in the opening of Act IV, Moka and Kokoa have NoSympathy, with Moka remarking in disgust, "To think we used to respect you both." However, they rebuild that pedestal as the series progresses.
** During Act III, Tsukune and co. trust and respect Hokuto until chapters 41 and 42, where he reveals that he personally orchestrated Kuyou's attack on Yokai Academy to serve as a distraction while he stole an ArtifactOfDoom from the secured levels. Ruby in particular is completely disgusted with herself for ever having trusted him.
** Dark always lived his life in honor of Arial, who granted him his freedom before she died, while Mizore often gave thanks to Arial at night as well. Come Act VI, when Arial comes BackFromTheDead, they discover that she had become infatuated with Dark, nearly killing Mizore in a jealous rage. Dark himself suffers a major HeroicBSOD which, several chapters later, results in a massive FreakOut, believing that everything he had fought for in Arial's name was meaningless. Mizore sums it up quite nicely in Act VI chapter 17:
-->Mizore: Damn it, I've had enough of this girl. She's not the angel my Dark spoke of. She's not the angel I gave my thanks to at night. She's a fucking nightmare!!
** Come Act VI chapter 27, however, Arial realizes and accepts that she is Dark's guardian angel/mother figure and nothing more, and they reconcile. In the case of herself and Mizore, however, things are still quite frosty, no pun intended.
* TheBully: As lampshaded by Rason, Yokai Academy has quite a few bullies.
* BullyingADragon:
** In Act III, Kano repeatedly blackmails the girls into letting him take dirty pictures of them, laughing off all of their threats and the fact that their boyfriends will be pissed if/when they find out. He knows they're a threat, but with his blackmail and the group's current shaky situation in the school, he's convinced they can't touch him... until Luna bites off the back of his skull at the end of Act III chapter 31.
** Throughout most of Act III, most of the other students openly taunt and harass the gang, believing that the stories about the group fighting Fairy Tale are nothing but a ploy for attention. Even if that was true, the students have apparently forgotten that Tsukune and his UnwantedHarem are the same monsters who defeated Kuyou and the Security Committee and put an end to their tyranny over the school, as well as the fact that Dark alone has hospitalized several bullies that made the near-fatal mistake of messing with him.
** In Act IV chapter 2, Yukari bluntly calls Kahlua a moron, and quickly learns just why it's a bad idea to make Kahlua cry.
** In Acts IV and V, several of the other male students try to hit on Moka and the other girls despite full knowledge of who they're dating. It's even lampshaded how stupid this is.
** In Act VI chapter 42, upon discovering that Sun had spied on herself and Gin having sex earlier, Kokoa activates her overcharge and angrily asks Sun why she just doesn't seem to get the point that Gin is her boyfriend now, to which Sun, uncaring that she's facing an incredibly pissed off vampire, flat-out tells Kokoa to her face that she doesn't deserve Gin at all; as a result, Kokoa attacks Sun in an UnstoppableRage and beats her into a coma.
** In Act VI chapter 45, Kurumu briefly teases Kokoa over having sex with Gin, forgetting for the moment that Sun did the same earlier and is lying in the infirmary brain-dead as a result; when Ran reminds her, Kurumu promptly takes it back.
* ButterflyOfDoom: In Act III, when Luna discovers that Rason is destined to die during the fight against Kiria, she promptly leaves to find a way to change his fate. Unfortunately, it's revealed in chapter 40 that Luna was supposed to be present in the original timeline during the fight against Kuyou, and save Astreal from death at Kuyou's hands; with Luna's departure, Kuyou torches Astreal with no effort. On top of it all, Falla, Jerkass heartless bitch that she is, knew that Astreal was doomed to die without Luna all along and deliberately neglected to inform Luna as such until it was too late.
* CainAndAbelAndSeth: Luna, Falla, and Complica originally had this dynamic, with Falla being the Cain to Luna and Complica's Abel and Seth. Now that Falla has been replaced with a far more benevolent AlternateSelf, it's been subverted.
* CallingTheOldManOut: In the first chapter of Act IV, Tsukune calls out Issa for his borderline abusive treatment of his daughters for their actions, making it clear that he's perfectly willing to fight Issa in their defense. Issa agrees to give Akua and Kahlua a chance at redemption as a result.
* CameBackStrong: After being seemingly killed by Hokuto during their fight in Act IV, Tsukune is revived as a full-fledged vampire by all four Shuzen sisters.
* CameBackWrong: In Act V chapter 29, Ceal recounts how his grandfather used Pandora's Box to bring his great-grandfather BackFromTheDead, only to discover the hard way that while Pandora can bring back the body, she can't bring back the soul. Leon is not happy to discover this, as he apparently planned to use his wish to resurrect his late girlfriend Selena.
* CantActPervertedTowardALoveInterest: Gin starts to shape up in Act III after becoming Kokoa's boyfriend.
* CantLiveWithoutYou: In Act VI chapter 35, Jovian and Jacqueline explain that, due to the nature of their spell, they need to have a master to live, and if they do not have one, they will be cursed to die, with Death itself following them relentlessly until then. Apoch and Astreal are also cursed as such, but are unaware of it.
* CantTakeCriticism:
** In Act III chapter 23, the girls of the group call out Apoch and Astreal for their uncharacteristically harsh treatment of Yukari, stating that they can't just act like that. Apoch and Astreal's response? They scream at the others not to tell them what to do, and then blow up Felucia with little-to-no provocation before lying to Ms. Nekonome to get the girls kicked out of class.
** Virtually every time someone tries to lecture Arial Kuyumaya about her HairTriggerTemper or her Jerkass behavior, she responds angrily and violently. For example, in Act VI chapter 44, after Mizore tells her that she's going to end up driving away what few friends she has unless she learns to control her temper, Arial responds by nailing Mizore in the forehead with an ice shard and screaming at her to "do [them] all a favor" and shut up.
* CardCarryingVillain: While she never outright identifies herself as evil, Evil!Falla fits the criteria in several ways. She openly criticized both of her sisters for being Nice Girls, thought that being a power-hungry, bloodthirsty warmonger would make her a good queen, repeatedly compares those around her to worms and bugs, and, judging by her words to her GoodCounterpart in Act V chapter 37, actually seems proud of having killed her own family and entire species.
* CassandraTruth:
** In Act I, when Rason theorizes to Mizore that Tsukune hasn't chosen which one of the girls he wants to be with because he doesn't want to compromise his friendship with the other three, Mizore dismisses him until Tsukune confirms it himself.
** In Act II, Ageha is understandably skeptical of Tsukune and co.'s claims that Rason is Kurumu's Destined One and that she was killed and brought BackFromTheDead until Kurumu, having regained her memories, confirms it herself.
** In Act III, most of the other students don't believe the stories that Tsukune and his friends beat several Fairy Tale squadrons until they witness the gang fight off Kuyou and then an entire Fairy Tale squadron firsthand.
** In Act III chapters 6-8, Dark is completely skeptical that the Holy Lock, a seemingly simple chain, has actually sealed the ghoul away until he sees how durable it is firsthand.
** In Act III chapter 12, after the other gang catches Kokoa, under the influence of a ghoul infection, in the midst of raping Tsukune, Moka blows her stack and starts viciously attacking Kokoa. Even as Kokoa is clutching her head and screaming in agony while FightingFromTheInside, Moka assumes that she's just trying to fake her way out of it and beats on her some more. It isn't until Kokoa begs to be killed before the ghoul infection takes over completely, only for said infection to do so and beat Moka within an inch of her life, that Moka realizes that something really was wrong with Kokoa.
* CastFromLifespan: In Act VII chapter 1, it's revealed that for Complica, now a time-based anomaly, to tell someone the future, they have to give up some years of their life to do so; in order to find out if their universe will be destroyed since several others have, Akasha ends up trading thirty-six years of her remaining lifespan.
* CasualKink:
** In Act II chapter 33, Rason mentions that Kurumu had him bark like a dog while they were making love.
** Ruby and Razico's love sessions heavily involve Razico's magical chains.
* CatchPhrase:
** Dark often remarks "I despise those who don't treat women right" when he sees someone mistreating women.
** Whenever someone makes a comment on their Twincest relationship, Jovian and Jacqueline dismissively state, "What do we care? We're made from magic."
** Yukari often says "Poor angel" whenever Rason passes out from Kurumu's MarshmallowHell.
** Apoch and Astreal often respond to Ruby talking to them with "Yes, Ms. Ruby," said in perfect unison. It's most common during the first three acts.
** Rason quips "Pimp" to Tsukune whenever he sees more than one girl around him.
* CatchphraseInterruptus: When Dark is about to spout his CatchPhrase to Kenzo in Act II chapter 37:
-->Dark: I despise--\\
Kenzo: --those who don't treat women right. I know, Dark. I've tried to live by that motto myself, but damn it, we all just don't have the willpower you have.
* ChainPain: Razico fights with a magically-conjured chain.
* ChaosIsEvil: Zigzagged; Pandora loves chaos and bloodshed, but is more ChaoticNeutral than actually evil.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In her initial appearance during Dark's OriginStory in Act I, Arial seemed to be an innocent and kind little girl. Come Acts V and VI, and it turns out she's a stubborn, near-psychotic BrattyHalfPint.
* ChastityCouple: So far, Ahakon and Yukari are the only couple who haven't been any more intimate than hugging, basic kissing, and HoldingHands; though they have shared a bed, they don't do anything more than that. Justified, considering the fact that they're not even twelve years old.
* CheatersNeverProsper: In Act VI chapter 51, after Akasha loses Hex's game and is charmed by him as a result, Falla gambles her own heart to Hex in exchange for Akasha's freedom, but uses her time powers to cheat; Hex realizes it right away and declares it an automatic loss.
* ChildrenAreInnocent:
** It was being forced to kill an innocent little girl that caused Dark to turn on his former master.
** In Act IV, Tsukune and co. manage to earn the public's trust by saving children from being killed by the collateral damage Jovian and Jacqueline are causing.
* ChivalrousPervert: Gin. In Act III, when he discovers from the boys that Kano had been blackmailing the girls into letting him take all manner of dirty pictures of them, he's absolutely furious and personally hunts down said pictures and burns them. After becoming Kokoa's boyfriend, he drops the "pervert" part completely.
* CivilianVillain: The original Falla during Act IV. In an effort to get Luna to finish the spell and restore her magic, she fakes wanting to reform through several acts of kindness... and in chapter 11, as soon as Luna truly believes that Falla can change and restores her magic, Falla promptly bisects her in cold blood and then proceeds to rub it in the gang's faces that it was all an act.
* ClingyJealousGirl: In Act III, Apoch and Astreal become this to Ahakon, to the extent that they try to isolate him from Yukari completely and actually try to kill her no less than twice; after the second attempt, which nearly got Ahakon himself killed, Ahakon dumps them for Yukari, partially because of their violent actions, partially because of his own growing feelings for Yukari, and partially because he felt guilty that they were both sharing him. On top of it all, Ruby, being Apoch and Astreal's boss, explicitly forbids them from having any more boyfriends for a while, stating that their actions prove that they're not ready for such a thing yet.
* ClipItsWings:
** In Act III chapter 44, Rason gets shot in the wings while fighting off Fairy Tale. The wings, thanks to Yukari and Ruby's healing, are better by the next day.
** In Act IV chapter 11, Kurumu rips off Falla's wings during their fight.
** In Act V chapter 35, to get back at Good!Falla for killing her, Evil!Falla rips off her Good Counterpart's wings, piece by piece; Ceal subsequently uses his HealingHands to reattach the wings, as well as the arm and leg that Evil!Falla also ripped off.
** In Act VI chapter 22, Kurumu gets her wings ripped off by the rylo; Ceal subsequently reattaches them.
* ClippedWingAngel: In Act III chapter 42, the minute Kuyou goes OneWingedAngel, he takes down all of the members of Tsukune's posse with relative ease. The "Clipped" part comes into play when a royally pissed off Tsukune reenters the fray, No Sells all of Kuyou's attacks, and takes him out in a matter of minutes.
* CloseCallHaircut: In Act IV chapter 21, Moka loses a few strands of hair to piano wire that Falla had set up outside her door; if the other girls hadn't warned her ahead of time, said piano wire would have decapitated her.
* CoDragons:
** In Act I, Rarosun and Surason Kiyo were these to Dahlzin.
** In Acts III and IV, Jovian and Jacqueline serve as these to Hokuto. In Act VI, resummoned versions of them serve as such to Talon.
* ColdBloodedTorture: In Acts III and IV, Jovian and Jacqueline eagerly do this to Felucia, both physically and sexually, to the extent that Felucia actually begins to suffer from SanitySlippage.
* CollectorOfTheStrange: As explained in Act III chapter 46, Issa is a collector of rare magical spells and artifacts, such as the Chrono Displacement spell, though he never actually intends to use them.
* CombatPragmatist:
** One of Dark's favorite combat tactics is to turn invisible and stealth-kill his enemies.
** After being unable to penetrate Jacqueline's barrier during their battle in Act IV, Astreal elects to blast apart the floor of the sundeck below her feet and subject her to a DisneyVillainDeath.
* TheComicallySerious: Dark is constantly deadpan and typically has a blank expression on his face, but nonetheless has quite a few humorous scenes. For example, in Act IV chapter 29, when Akua is going crazy from Tsukune's aura and is dry-humping him in a public street, Dark's only reaction to it is a completely deadpan "Well, this is awkward."
* ComicallyMissingThePoint[=/=]SkewedPriorities:
** In Act II chapter 41, when Kurumu regains her memories of Rason and confirms the CassandraTruth above, Ageha is initially more concerned with the fact that Kurumu lost her virginity to Rason instead of Tsukune rather than the fact that her daughter was recently murdered and brought BackFromTheDead.
** In Act III chapter 13, when it's discovered that the ghoul inside Tsukune had infected Kokoa with its essence, which caused her to rape Tsukune against her will, Felucia is more concerned over where having Kokoa rape Tsukune fits in with the ghoul's EvilPlan than anything else. Ahakon even asks her why that's the only detail she can focus on; in Felucia's defense, however, she does admit that it was a stupid question.
** In Act V chapter 23, with Yokai Academy's festival ruined and several students dead as a result of Tsukune's bloodlust-fuelled rampage, Rin's primary concern is that the fireworks show has been cancelled. When the others point this out, Ran explains that they've seen far worse while enslaved to Babylon.
* CompetitionFreak: Dark has shades of this, as he tends to take sports games quite seriously. In Act I, during a gym class game of dodgeball, he hits his own teammates with the ball just to get a shot at Tsukune, and in Act VI chapter 52, during the big baseball game the gang rigs up for Complica, he actually tries to hit people with the ball when up at bat. It's downplayed, as part of it is because he "doesn't get human games" by his own admission.
* CompleteImmortality:
** As a result of Pandora's JackassGenie tendencies, Fafnir cannot be killed at all, except by Ceal's hands.
** Moka's clone, as revealed in Act VI chapter 52. As the scientists explain to Gyokuro, they tried killing her via firing squad, decapitation, burning, freezing, and everything else, and the clone survived every single one.
* ComplexityAddiction: During the early parts of Act I, Apoch and Astreal go through elaborate schemes to test the group's power, and ultimately brainwash Rason and Dark, in order to be free of their master Ghaldin; the brainwashing attempt backfires when the sisters' inexperience with mind control spells allows Ghaldin to take control of all four of them. When all is said and done and Ghaldin is killed by Inner Moka, Tsukune flat-out tells the sisters that he and his friends would have helped them willingly from the start if they had simply asked.
* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: Ran, Rin and Ren. By their own admission in Act V chapter 20, they've witnessed so many horrible things while enslaved to Babylon that Tsukune's bloodlust-fuelled rampage through the school festival, which has left the school grounds covered with corpses, doesn't even faze them.
* ContinuationFic: Of the Manga/RosarioToVampire anime. It actually seems to adapt the parts of the manga that the anime doesn't cover.
* ContrivedCoincidence: In Act V chapter 39, Moka and the others arrive at the destroyed human city shortly after Render, Leon, Apoch, Astreal, and Good!Falla's battle with Jovian, Jacqueline, and Evil!Falla has left the city in ruins; the [=HDA=] promptly uses this to blame the group for the destruction and place them under arrest. In Act VI chapter 10, after the group has escaped the [=HDA=] complex, Razico even notes that their arrival was bad timing.
* ConvenientTerminalIllness: During the final chapter of Act III, Tsukune, already about to die as a result of the cost of the Chrono Displacement spell, deliberately tears off the Holy Lock and unleashes the ghoul, which butchers Kiria. However, as the ghoul had its own mind and personality, it is destroyed instead, leaving Tsukune alive and free of its influence.
* CooldownHug:
** In Act I chapter 4, Moka tries to give Mizore one... only to get an ElementalPunch to the gut for her trouble.
** In Act V chapter 20, when Tsukune is beginning to succumb to his bloodlust again and urges Ren and Ruby to escape before he loses control, Ren hugs him and begs him not to throw his life away.
* CorporalPunishment[=/=]SpankTheCutie:
** In Act V chapter 20, Kokoa mentions that Issa still spanks her, much to Gin's surprise. Later, in Act VI chapter 49, it's heavily implied that Issa spanked Akua and Kahlua to punish them for failing to stop Talon; we're not shown the actual act, but the two are left holding their butts in pain and whimpering apologies.
** In Act VI chapter 43, when Jacqueline keeps making loud noise while they're trying to stealthily find Akua and Kahlua, Jovian promptly slaps her ass and tells her to be quiet.
** In Act VI chapter 42, the Cii sisters reveal that their father's preferred method of punishing them was taking them out and spanking them right in front of the entire kingdom; Complica never got spanked, Luna got it once, but Falla was such a brat that, according to Complica, it happened to her every single day.
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot:
** In Act I, Apoch and Astreal brainwash Rason and Dark in order to get them to help them fight off their master Ghaldin, but it backfires when Ghaldin arrives and takes control of all four of them. When Ghaldin is defeated, Apoch and Astreal apologize and insist that they only wanted help; Tsukune informs them that the entire group would have helped them willingly from the start if they had just asked and let them act on their own accord.
** In Act VI chapters 42-44, tensions between Kokoa and Sun over Gin escalate to the point where Kokoa attacks Sun and ends up leaving her in a coma, essentially brain dead. Though he acknowledges that Kokoa is undoubtedly at fault, Gin also states that the whole mess could have been prevented if he had just been clearer with Sun and stopped her advances sooner.
* CoverBlowingSuperpower: In Act III chapter 41, Jovian uses Force Fields and Hand Blasts to deflect Kuyou's attacks and steer him towards the academy as part of Hokuto's plan. As Jovian had previously told them that she didn't know how to use such magic, Tsukune and Ruby are naturally suspicious and follow her to the academy's secured levels, where they discover that Hokuto and Jovian had been EvilAllAlong.
* CrashIntoHello: In Act IV chapter 2, Kyouko accidentally runs Ruby and Falla over with her bike.
* CrazyPrepared:
** In Act I chapter 32, while helping Moka with her costume to the school dance, Kurumu is revealed to have a wide variety of risqué costumes, including a cheerleader costume, a NaughtyNurseOutfit, and a FrenchMaidOutfit.
-->Moka: Um, say Kurumu, why do you have all these outfits anyway?\\
Kurumu: Well, I am a succubus after all, and I like to be both prepared and diverse with my man.
** As revealed in Act III chapter 13, Tsukune's ghoul somehow anticipated that the group would find a way to suppress it, namely the Holy Lock, and infected Kokoa with a portion of its essence as a contingency.
** In Act III chapter 44, after Felucia is kidnapped by Hokuto and forced to work for him, it's revealed that she anticipated that something might happen to her and left a videotape in which she IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy gives Dark and Mizore her blessing, as well as her LoveConfession.
** In Act IV chapter 23, after taking Moka, the brainwashed Felucia had already anticipated that Dark would try to follow her to Hokuto and rigs the bridge to explode should they try.
* CrazySane: Even while suffering from chrono dementia, Luna and Falla manage to have surprisingly long moments of clarity, their bouts of instability largely signified by spells of LaughingMad and SuddenlyShouting.
* CreatureHunterOrganization: The Human Defense Agency, founded in Act V in response to TheUnmasquedWorld, serves to protect humanity from evil monsters. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, most members of the organization automatically assume that all monsters are bad. However, as of the end of Act VI, Moka and the others have won them over, and they are now allies of the group.
* CrowdPanic: In Act III chapter 41, the entire student body has this reaction when they discover that Kuyou has returned.
* CurbStompBattle:
** The group's initial confrontation with Kiria in Act II chapter 26 goes badly until Tsukune unleashes the ghoul.
** After becoming a full vampire in Act IV chapter 31, Tsukune proceeds to completely decimate Hokuto. After Hokuto has gone OneWingedAngel, no less.
* CurseCutShort: In Act VI chapter 44, Mizore has such a moment in response to Arial's ingratitude over the fact that Mizore saved her life:
-->Mizore: I don't believe this. I saved your life. Show some gratitude, you ungrateful bi--\\
[Arial shoots her in the forehead with an ice shard]
* CustomUniform[=/=]NonUniformUniform:
** Felucia wears the Yokai Academy uniform, but leaves out the neck ribbon, leaves the jacket open to expose her white undershirt, and wears a black plaid skirt as opposed to a brown one.
** Dark, Rason, and Ahakon all wear their street clothes instead of the uniform.
* TheCynic: Ren Otonashi. Even after CharacterDevelopment, she tends to focus on the negative aspects of a situation more often than not. Case in point: even though Tsukune's transformation into a vampire gave him the power to save the world and he doesn't blame Moka at all, Ren can only focus on the negatives, namely the fact that Tsukune now has to deal with vampiric bloodlust thanks to Moka.
* CynicismCatalyst: Ceal Erres became the emotionally-repressed Jerkass he is after his younger sister died in an attempt to save a human child from a car crash.
