** According to the players, there was some talk about the actual reality show that would have happened had the mastermind not taken over and created the game. It would have played out in a similar vein to "Survivor", only taking place in a shopping mall over a deserted island.
** Some motives were stolen from the original reality TV show; The chapter 3 motive, which involved sequestered loved ones who were tortured, and the chapter 4 motive involving boxes meant to play on the player's fears, were originally just sequestered as a prize for a challenge, and fearboxes for a "Fear Factor" based challenge.

Based on the visual novel Dangan Ronpa, it takes place in "Angel's Wing Mall," wherein 16 Super High School Level students have been selected to participate in a reality show. Things take a turn for the worse as they find themselves trapped inside the mall, forced into a Shopping Spree of Mutual Killing.
