"No pre-commented examples" is one of the standard wiki rules and applies to every page. We don't need to mention it for specific tropes.

'''[[Administrivia/NoRecentExamplesPlease There is a two-week waiting period (after the termination of a role) before an example can be added.]]''' This ensures the job loss is accurately reported, actually sticks, and avoids knee-jerk reactions. This includes "sneaking" the entries onto the pages ahead of time by adding them and then just commenting them out.

* Creator/WilliamShakespeare and his Globe Theatre company were able to downplay this trope in 1601. Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, had paid them extra for a special performance of ''Theatre/RichardII'' the night before what came to be known as [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essex%27s_Rebellion Essex's Rebellion]]. Devereux evidently hoped the events in the play would make the public more amenable to the concept of overthrowing Queen Elizabeth, who had placed him under house arrest a year previously for his disastrous leadership in the ongoing Nine Years' War with Ireland. Instead, Devereux's rebellion fizzled quickly, and he was beheaded for treason less than three weeks later. Shakespeare and his company, meanwhile, escaped a similar fate when it turned out that historian John Hayward had dedicated his own book on Richard II to Devereux himself before the performance had taken place—although Elizabeth did, perhaps out of cheek, order another performance of ''Richard II'' out of them on the day before Devereux's execution.

Little silly to reference an Adult Films section now that it's been cut

* The most famous example of this trope from the Pageant world is [[Music/VanessaWilliams Vanessa L. Williams]], who became the first African-American woman to be crowned Miss America in 1984, but later relinquished the crown after ''Penthouse'' magazine published several nude photos of her that had been taken a few years prior to her entering the competition. Despite the controversy, Williams eventually became one of the most successful Miss Americas of all time after launching recording and acting careers (her song "Save the Best for Last" was a worldwide hit in 1992). Meanwhile, karma hit the offending photos when it was revealed that Traci Lords (who is further detailed in the Adult Films section), the centerfold for the issue of Penthouse that they were published in, was actually underage at the time her pictures were taken.

* The fastest proven way for an adult pornstar to become PersonaNonGrata is for them to lie about an HIV test and continue performing anyway (e.g. Marc Wallice), not only exposing their fellow performers to the virus but also putting the industry as a whole in jeopardy when the government shuts it down for however many weeks it takes to contain the outbreak.
* Anything involving pedophilia is a career death sentence as well:
** Ron Jeremy was banned by the Exxxotica adult convention network in 2017 after allegations that he had sexually assaulted other attendees. In June and August 2020, he was charged with 24 counts of rape or sexual assault involving 12 different women, including a 15-year-old minor. He was later judged unfit to stand trial and committed to a mental health facility.
** Mercedes Carrera and her partner were arrested in 2019 and charged with methamphetamine possession, illegal firearms possession, and sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 10. As of January 2023, they are still in jail awaiting trial. It's highly unlikely she'll ever be featured in anything again.
** In the mid-'80s, Traci Lords quickly rose to become one of porn's biggest stars, earning more than $1,000 a day and the nickname "The Princess of Porn". There was just one problem: she was actually [[MinorWithFakeID a minor who had lied about her age with forged documents]], a revelation that came out in 1986 shortly after her 18th birthday. Not only did her career in porn end overnight, almost her entire body of work was banned (save for one film shot two days after she turned 18), X-Citement Video owner Rubin Gottesman received a year in prison for distributing child pornography, and adult video stores and theaters had to scramble to pull all of her movies and photoshoots off their shelves so they wouldn't be charged with the same. Lords did later transition to music and mainstream film, however, and has enjoyed success to this day as a BMovie actress.
** The beginning of the end for Joe Francis, creator of the ''Girls Gone Wild'' series of softcore films showing female college students on spring break stripping nude for the camera, came in 2003 when he and his crew [[https://www.huffpost.com/entry/girls-gone-wild-joe-francis_n_645ee736e4b005be8ff3951e went to Panama City Beach, Florida]] during spring break to film. There, Francis was arrested for filming girls who turned out to be underage, marking the first of many long legal battles over the course of the '00s (many of them for filming underage girls) that ultimately bankrupted the company. Francis has since retired to a mansion in Punta Mita, Mexico and [[NeverMyFault denies all wrongdoing]], insisting that his legal problems were caused by a grand conspiracy against him.
* Porn director Tony T. was fired after allegedly assaulting Nikki Benz on the shoot of a Brazzers scene in 2016, repeatedly ignoring protests that she wasn't comfortable with his directions. The scene itself was [[BannedEpisode removed from the company's line-up]] and will likely never see the light of day. He filed an as-yet unresolved defamation suit against Brazzers and Ms. Benz in response, which originally included Benz's male co-star before he dropped out.
* James Deen became one of the most popular porn actors in the late 2000s due to his relatively "everyman" looks (such as a slender build and lack of tattoos) in contrast with the stereotypical image of hypermasculine male actors in the porn industry, and, as his {{Stage Name|s}} can attest, a resemblance to Creator/JamesDean. This all came crashing down in late 2015, when multiple women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct including rape against him, the most notable being his former girlfriend and fellow pornstar Joanna Angel. Other porn actresses he worked with saying he was unnecessarily rough during their scenes together didn't help any matters. Kink.com, Evil Angel, and [=HardX.com=] severed all ties with Sevilla, stating that "consent is sacrosanct", and ''The Frisky'' cancelled Deen's sexual advice column.
* [=GirlsDoPorn.com=] was a website that featured amateur girls doing porn scenes in the style of a CastingCouch. In 2016, the company was successfully sued by more than two dozen plaintiffs for false hiring practices, fraud, and coercion and was eventually forced to shut down in 2020. Actresses were flown out to San Diego after responding to [[ModelScam misleading modeling ads]] and made to sign contracts on the spot before shooting their scenes. The heads of the company were all indicted with sex trafficking charges and either imprisoned or forced to flee the country. Pornhub.com deleted its [=GirlsDoPorn=] channel (other streaming sites eventually followed suit) and its parent company [=MindGeek=] was later sued for damages as well.
* Mia Khalifa made a name for herself because of her controversial Hijabi cosplay (she's a Lebanese-American, although her parents were Lebanese Christian, not Muslim). In 2023 during the Israel-Hamas War, Magazine/{{Playboy}} severed ties with Khalifa over public comments she made praising Hamas, such as asking Hamas terrorists to flip their phones sideways so she could get a better view. After the backlash, Khalifa doubled down on her comments, stating she was glad to be divesting herself of a "Zionist company".

* In the world of TabletopGames, Zachary Smith AKA Zak Smith AKA Zak Sabbath was an influential designer, blogger, and podcaster in the early days of the Old-School Renaissance scene, with credits on several big-studio productions, including as a consultant on the fifth edition of ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons''. Then several former girlfriends came forward with allegations against him of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. This opened the floodgates and an increasing number of OSR bloggers came forward with stories of harassment and other abusive behavior from Zak. After Zak filed a number of unsuccessful defamation lawsuits against several of his critics he was widely considered persona non grata in not just the OSR community but the Tabletop industry as a whole. The final major holdout was Edward James Raggi, publisher of ''TabletopGame/LamentationsOfTheFlamePrincess'' (who is himself a controversial fellow), but even he ended up cutting ties with Smith in 2019.

After a number of similarly evasive statements on the situation, Koebel's only involvement in the TTRPG space since this incident was a brief surreptitious appearance in the credits of a collaborative crowdfunding project which failed to endear him to everyone in the scene enough for him to be let back in, and he has kept a low profile away from the indie TTRPG scene since.

** In the mid-'80s, Nora "Traci Lords" Kuzma quickly rose to become one of porn's biggest stars, earning more than $1,000 a day and the nickname "The Princess of Porn". Kuzma did later transition to music and mainstream film, however, and has enjoyed success to this day as a BMovie actress.
