A full year later, on October 2, 2017, the pre-show area's first room was converted into a Stitch meet-and-greet, named "Stitch's [[MythologyGag Alien Encounter]] Character Greeting!". The ride's most recent operating run was from December 23, 2017 to January 6, 2018, with cast members announcing after the last ride of that period that January 6 was supposedly its final day. However, a Disney spokesperson clarified a few days later on January 9 that [[http://www.mynews13.com/content/news/cfnews13/on-the-town/article.html/content/news/articles/cfn/2018/1/9/did_disney_permanent.html "[the ride] is still seasonal and that it would reopen."]] The ride's [[https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/magic-kingdom/attractions/stitchs-great-escape/ official webpage]] remains online, currently listing the attraction as "temporarily closed", although Disney World fans continue to believe that it's permanently closed (yes, it's that zealously hated that its detractors deny that it still technically exists) and are still expecting the company to announce its replacement soon. Nobody
knows for sure what's going on with in that building in Tomorrowland, so who knows if this attraction?controversial ride will ever operate again. But the one thing that is certain about Stitch's Great Escape! is that it has definitely left its mark in Walt Disney World history. For better or for worse.

Disney World guests and fans didn't find SGE! to be so "great", however. The ride is infamous for being [[NightmareFuel somewhat scary]] and [[NauseaFuel downright nasty]], and also for hugely pissing off the fans of its predecessor. It would quickly build up an awful reputation it would never be able to shake off, to the point that it may have played a role in its affiliated franchise's loss of American popularity. Most park guests tend to skip this ride or ride it only once, and the ride usually gets called one of the "worst" attractions at Walt Disney World (which some people don't necessarily agree with, but we'll leave that to the YMMV page).

Alien Encounter itself is actually lighter than the original concept for the show, which was based on the ''Franchise/{{Alien}}'' franchise, and featured the Xenomorph, Ripley, and the Weyland-Yutani company. The idea was abandoned when it was decided to be too dark for a Disney theme park, though ''Alien'' still appeared in Ride/TheGreatMovieRide.

Added a couple tropes.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Gasshole}}: Stitch's infamous chili dog belch, which is actually a "subtle" lampoon on [[NoTalkingOrPhonesWarning the rules against eating and drinking in the theater]]. (He takes said chili dog from a "recruit" in the dark.)

Added DiffLines:

* NoTalkingOrPhonesWarning: Along with the chili dog moment mentioned above, before that, Stitch hears someone's cell phone ring and goes across the theater to answer it (this causes the restraints to press down as he "runs" in the dark). This is a reference to the rule against the use of phones in the theater.

The premise is that the park's guests are new recruits working for the [[TheFederation United Galactic Federation's]] Prisoner Teleport Center. After being welcomed by the Grand Councilwoman and debriefed by Captain Gantu and a robotic sergeant, recruits are alerted to the impending arrival of a "Level 3" prisoner and are taken to a large holding cell with seats surrounding a teleportation tube in the middle. Shortly after recruits are seated, the "Level 3" prisoner is teleported in and revealed to be an adorable looking creature called Experiment 626. Although confused at first, Gantu, his cohorts, and the recruits would soon learn why 626 is so dangerous, as the blue alien tricks his holding cell's security and begins his "[[TitleDrop great escape]]".
