This spring, 107 students will be graduating; including class representative Rina, whose friends compliment her speech as they return to the classroom. After she mentions being part of the production staff for the photo album, she suggests they look at it together when one of her friends gushes over her in observation. Not only is she really talented with sports and academics, but she's also very cute; she can't help but be jealous.

While they look over the various pictures, Rina claims that they all succeeded together, it wasn't just her- even if most of the pictures do feature her. However, she finds herself with feelings of nostalgia knowing her group might be split up when she enters middle school. But she's had so much fun that she deeply cherishes these precious memories.

Suddenly, while looking at one of the sporting event pictures she happens to see a strange shadow behind her. Initially the girls fear it may have been a ghost, but they write it off as a prank or the quality of the picture itself when Rina insists they stop discussing it. Curious, she decides to pay the Teacher who finalized the album a visit, bringing her friend Miyu with her.

As they approach the office they find a couple leaving the room and Rina makes an inquiry about their identities. After they are informed that they had been Mr. and Mrs. Kaginuma, he explains how they came by to speak to him about their daughter, Reiko, who had gone missing the prior summer. The girls recall her as a pretty classmate of theirs who kept to herself but stood out, much to Rina's annoyance as she tries returning to her concern. But when she goes to show their Teacher the album she is startled to see that the shadow is more visible and has moved, causing her to panic and run back to class.

Anxiously Rina stands alone while Miyu fills in their friends on what happened as they look through another album. They notice the strange shadow appear in several more images until Rina, beginning to get angered suddenly snaps at her friends demanding an explanation. They are stunned by her sudden hostility and have no answers, and they resume looking to see a new image has appeared: of the school incinerator. As they look they notice Reiko has appeared in the image and note her summer outfit, deeming this to be before she vanished. Just as another girl appears in the picture, Rina smiles and snatches the album from her friends, insisting they don't worry any more. It's only a silly prank after all.

Still concerned, Miyu asks Rina if the other girl in the image was her. Rina attempts to change the subject by bringing up her party again, but Miyu remains persistent, causing Rina to suddenly yell at her and frighten the group. In a huff she takes off from the room while wondering ''who'' could have taken this picture.

Soon the memories of that day return...

One summers day she happened to see Reiko standing by the school incinerator admiring the scenery when she approached to once again offer a hand in friendship and join her group. She sees how lonely Reiko looks, and she feels bad for her. Reiko once again rejects, saying that she enjoys being on her own and didn't feel the need to suck up to someone just to be accepted. This bold statement causes Rina shock when Reiko suddenly points out that ''she'' is the one who should be pitied. Rina only likes people who suck up to her in order to make her feel better about herself: a bully who purposely does everything to remain in the spotlight. Like recommending that she play the lead role in the school play, and how she took credit for their win in the chorus competition. Everyone fears Rina, so they don't say anything.

Reiko prepares to leave when an enraged Rina grabs her and shoves her back. But to her horror, she finds Reiko has been knocked unconscious- blood covering the rock her head collided with. She panics and fearful of getting into trouble, she tries to determine what to do.

It was then she saw the incinerator behind them...

In the hallway, Rina cruelly mocks Reiko and claimed she deserved it because she thought she was so pretty that she could treat her badly. It doesn't matter though, because in middle school everyone will continue to love her and shower her with attention; nobody will ever find out.

Realizing she still has evidence to be dealt with, Rina decides to pay the incinerator a final visit. With the album in hand, she approaches it and prepares to toss it in when she decides to take one final look inside. But what she finds is not just the newly developed image of the incinerator, but a horrifying, charred spirit with long hair beginning to crawl out from it. Terrified by this Rina throws the book into the incinerator and turns away, only to come face-to-face with the ashy spirit.

It coldly congratulates her for graduating...

As the school day is coming to an end, Rina's class and Teacher prepare to take a final group picture. Nobody has seen Rina in some time but they don't think about it as they settle in. However, the Teacher happens to catch the smoke rising from the incinerator and remarks upon how strange this is, considering it wasn't supposed to be on today.

In the flame, a picture of Rina burns away into nothingness...
