Thing is, he makes this draw as a declaration using the Miracle Draw spell card (which deals 1000 points of damage to an opponent if you guess your draw phase correctly, but a 1000 to you if you guess wrong). Up until now Miracle Draw has worked because Damon was trying for damage, not a specific card, as part of his instinct training. So he winds up fumbling it and drawing Doron instead, which ultimately costs him the duel. Even worse, Damon would have won anyway if he did draw the card he was trying for, since Jaden was down to his last 1000 Life Points.
