• Egg-Laying Male: The golden egg comes from a rooster, which are male. Syrus even points out roosters don't lay eggs.
• Foreign Cuisine: Inverted. The sandwiches in the Japanese version are normal that western viewers wouldn't mind eating. In the dub, its mentioned to be things like ostrich burgers, grilled tongue sandwiches, and mystery meat to the point Jaden says the golden egg is the only good sandwich. For example, the sandwich Damon eats in his flashback is a fish sandwich while the dub specifies sardines.
• Idiot Ball: During his last draw, Damon tries to go for a Shield Crush spell card, seemingly intent on using it to deal with Jaden's defense monster. Thing is, he makes this draw as a declaration using the Miracle Draw spell card (which deals 1000 points of damage to an opponent if you guess your draw phase correctly, but a 1000 to you if you guess wrong). Up until now Miracle Draw has worked because Damon was trying for damage, not a specific card, as part of his instinct training. So he winds up fumbling it and drawing Doron instead, which ultimately costs him the duel. Even worse, Damon would have won anyway if he did draw the card he was trying for, since Jaden was down to his last 1000 Life Points.
• Thinly-Veiled Dub Country Change: The onigiri Dorothy serves Jaden, Syrus, Chumley, and Alexis during their stakeout for the sandwich thief are called pastries in the dub and the salmon flavored onigiri Jaden eats is changed to strawberry.
