The first duel -- Gongenzaka vs Crow -- is announced in the stadium. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure hands in a ticket, but the guards notice the man cannot walk properly. They call out, and the figure falls over revealing Crow's three children in a TotemPoleTrench. The duel begins, and tensions between Commons and Tops members of the audience continues as they argue about whether Jack is a hero to the Commons, a member of the Tops, or a traitor to the Commons. As the duel begins, Crow spots Frank, Amanda and Turner in the crowd, and worries about them through the duel.

Crow seems to have the upper hand, but Gongezaka uses Action Cards and a Pendulum-Synchro Summon to turn the duel around. Crow refuses to give up, and Gongenzaka calls him out on being unfocused. At that moment, Crow spots the kids being attacked by security and calls out to them. Gongenzaka asks what they mean to him, and Crow has a flashback about when he first met the kids, when they were huddling together in the rain and Crow took pity on them and fed them. He'd only intended to feed them once, but wound up becoming attached and taking care of them. Crow claims he hadn't laughed in years before taking the kids in, and that without them he'd be a different person.

Gongenzaka is moved by Crow's speech and chooses to encourage him to go all out. Crow does so and wins the duel.

!! This episode contains examples of:
* ApatheticCitizens: The crowd gets so caught up arguing with each other that only a few people are actually paying attention to the match. It takes Gongenzaka creating his own Synchro-Pendulum summon on the spot to gain their attention.
* ChildrenRaiseYou: Happened to Crow when he adopted the three kids.
* GracefulLoser: Gongenzaka, to Crow's surprise.
* HonorBeforeReason: Gongenzaka loses the duel because he encouraged his opponent and snapped him out of a funk instead of taking advantage of Crow's distracted state.
* SkewedPriorities: Sawatari is upset because someone else has the spotlight and that Gongenzaka has evolved Pendulum Summoning to a new level without telling him.
* SubvertedTrope: Up until now, Yuya had invented all of the new summoning types, with Reiji building new cards based on the methods Yuya discovers. However, despite audience expectations it's Gongenzaka who first mixes Synchro summoning and Pendulum Summoning.
* TotemPoleTrench: How the Frank, Tanner and Amanda try to sneak in.
