Cyclops and Jean go out on a date, only to see a young mutant boy being chased by a mob. Attempting to rescue him, they flee into the subway system and get captured by the Morlocks. A group of homeless mutants living underground, they are led by a woman named Callisto who plans on taking Cyclops as her mate.

Jean manages to get a message to professor Xavier and he assembles the X-men to rescue her. Storm struggled during the mission due to her claustrophobia.

In the end, Storm challenges Callisto to a hand to hand fight and gains leadership of the Morlocks.
