* ImprobableWeaponUser: When fighting Chef as the killer on the dock, Duncan throws a wooden chair, a canoe, a life jacket, a surfboard, [[TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers and a live fish]] at him. When Chef gives him a weird look after being hit in the face by the last one, Duncan says, "What? I ran out of stuff to throw."

* GirlsAreReallyScaredOfHorrorMovies: Leshawna is the only one yelling at the film, while averted by Heather looking bored, and Gwen and Izzy having fun with it.

** The concept of a mentally unstable killer escaping prison could be a reference to Michael Myers, the main killer of the ''Film/{{Halloween}}'' franchise.

* OffModel: Even though Duncan got rid of Chef's hook with his own chainsaw, the hook later appears intact when everybody is running to the mess hall to save Gwen.

** Duncan, on the other hand, was aware that the killer was part of a challenge theme, so waited until he was the last one to face off the Killer.

* DeathBySex: Parodied and Downplayed as only "Death by Make out". Izzy and Owen are the first "victims" out of the challenge, since both went into the woods to make out.

* {{Ensembles}}: Parodied and pointed out by Gwen when she listed what kind of characters are the ones killed first in the genre. The more clear are MsFanservice[=/=]AlphaBitch (Heather), TokenMinority (DJ, Leshawna and also Heather), PluckyComicRelief (Owen), MakeoutKids (Owen and Izzy) and {{Lovable Jock}}s (DJ and Geoff).

* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: Upon being terrorized by Chef the serial killer, DJ runs all the way to the victim tent. He stops running upon arrival, but not screaming until Izzy slaps him back to the present.

* AnswerCut: When Heather says that they are always being watched (since it's a reality TV show), we see Chris in a tent full of cameras, confirming this.
