* ObliviousGuiltSlinging: Artie unknowingly keeps making Tony feel guilty about torching Artia's restaurant.

Carmela and Charmaine are cleaning up the house after the fundraiser. When Carmela thanks both her and Artie for their help, Charmaine (annoyed that Carmela treated her like a servant earlier), reveals that she once slept with Tony when he and Carmela weren't dating. Carmela stares in shock as she leaves.

* ImprovisedWeapon: Silvio uses a hotel bell to whack Teittleman's son-in-law in the head several times.

Ariel refuses to budge. After the party, Tony goes to sleep with his mistress, Irina. However, he's distracted when Silvio calls to tell him about the situation and leaves to handle things. Tony goes in his bathrobe to Satriale's and rails at Silvio and Ariel for their handling of the situation. After calling Hesh for advice, Tony threatens to castrate Ariel, and the latter relents.

Carmela and Charmaine are cleaning up the house after the fundraiser. When Carmela thanks both her and Artie for their help, the annoyed Charmaine reveals that she once slept with Tony when he and Carmela weren't dating. Carmela stares in shock as she leaves.

** Christopher refuses to sell Meadow and Hunter speed, not because he has any qualms about selling dugs to teenagers, but because he knows he'd face Tony's wrath if he were to find out.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: In the hospital Jackie Aprile Sr. likens Mikey Palmice to the Grim Reaper. In "[[Recap/TheSopranosS2E9FromWhereToEternity From Where to Eternity]]", Christopher, believing he is in Hell, sees Mikey there. In the same episode, a psychic tells Paulie that Mikey is the leader of the dead souls following him.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Artie calls out his wife for refusing the Caribbean cruise tickets Tony offered a few days prior, but jumping at the chance to work with Carmela to work for an event that benefits the mob in the long run.

** Artie has one right at the start of the FoodFight with Tony; he threw the first bit of food into Tony's face in a flash of genuine anger, and he has a second to realise what he's done before Tony decides it's all in good fun and joins in.

* SilentTreatment: Carmela gives it to Tony at the concert hall, after Charmine revealed her one-night stand with Tony. Also doubles as {{Foreshadowing}} when Tony's cheating ways become harder and harder to ignore as the series progresses.

!Denial, Anger, Acceptance

In a fancy restaurant, Junior and Mikey are discussing the truck situation. Junior is shocked and angered when Mikey reveals that Comley are grateful to Tony instead of him, and they agree that something needs to be done about Chris and Brendan.

Tony goes for another appointment at Melfi's. After railing at her about what he believes to be a deliberate psychological test in the form of a painting outside her office, he reveals that Jackie Aprile Sr. has cancer and is in the hospital. He's more shocked by it then he lets on. The crew go to visit Jackie in the hospital and discuss current business before he becomes fatigued and asks them to leave.

Tony and the crew go for a meeting later at Satriale's with a Hasidic Jew (and friend of Silvio's) named Shlomo Teittleman. He asks the group to help him force his son-in-law into giving up his share of the business by divorcing his wife, and will gift 25% of his business to Tony in return. Despite the reservation of Teittleman's associate (and Hesh Rabkin), Tony goes ahead with a plan to coerce the son-in-law.

That night, they hold the fundraiser to great success, while Artie airs out his frustrations to Tony over a FoodFight. At the same time, Silvio and Paulie kidnap Ariel and beat him up.

Ariel refuses to budge. After the party, Tony goes to sleep with his mistress, Irina. However, he's distracted when Silvio calls to tell him about the situation and leaves to handle things. Afterwards, Tony goes back to see Jackie, who is looking much worse than the last time he saw him. Tony is taken aback by his condition, and realizes that Melfi was right. He goes back to her office and tells her about what happened. He cries after telling her, and she reasons that those kinds of situations are one of the great mysteries in life.

Junior heads over to Green Grove to hang up portraits for Livia, and tells her about the situation with Chris and Brendan. She reasons that both Tony and her love Chris like a son, but have no such regard for the latter. She advises him to send a message, and he agrees.

* JailBait: Brendan openly flirts with both Meadow and Hunter, who are high school seniors at the time, which Christopher and Adriana strangely don’t seem to have a problem with. Lampshaded by Carmela, who makes it clear she finds this scummy and inappropriate.

* SilentTreatment: Carmela gives it to Tony at the concert hall, after Charmine revealed her one-night stand with Tony. Also doubles as {{Foreshadowing}} when Tony's [[YourCheatingHeart cheating ways]] become harder and harder to ignore as the series progresses.

Shlomo learns to his shock and horror that approaching Tony with his proposition has become a DealWithTheDevil that he will regret from that day onwards. Chuck Low also played Morrie Kessler in ''Film/GoodFellas'', who approached Jimmy Conway with the idea and intel for the Lufthansa heist. And that arc in ''Film/GoodFellas'' plays out pretty much the same way, with the only difference being that Shlomo doesn't get outright killed. The way Tony carries himself in locking Shlomo into the deal, like it or not, is also very reminiscent of how Conway dealt with Morrie after the Lufthansa heist.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Carmela speaks to Charmaine in a manner of CondescendingCompassion, and with the assumption that Charmaine must be [[GreenEyedMonster jealous]] of her wealth. Charmaine then tells her that she had a one-night stand with Tony before he married Carmela, but didn't take it any further than that. She is obviously implying that [[ICouldaBeenAContender she could have usurped Carmela's place]] as the TrophyWife, but made a moral choice to not having anything more to do with Tony or his blood money.

* ActorAllusion: Chris Low plays Shlomo Teittleman. But no matter how many beatings they give him and how many [[ShameIfSomethingHappened death threats]] they make, he remains DefiantToTheEnd even in the face of murder. It isn't until Tony gets some advice from [[HonestAdvisor Hesh]] that they can oblige the son-in-law. It turns out that giving the son-in-law a CripplingCastration without killing him is from the son-in-law's point of view a FateWorseThanDeath.

* TheOtherDarrin: Irina (Tony's mistress) is played by Oksana Lada, while the character was played by Siberia Federico in the pilot episode.
