** Apart from the fact they went off on a road trip instead of coming straight home from Goodwill, none of the kids called their parents to tell them where they were or that they were safe, so their parents logically concluded that BBA kidnapped them and got the authorities involved.
** Jesse is still traumatized by the shooting and given that his sister let him use drugs openly at home, its makes sense that he got into BBA's uncle's painkillers and overdosed.
