* NotEvilJustMisunderstood: The forest wasn't trying to hurt anyone. It was just trying to find some to act as an interpreter for the forest's wishes. Fortunately, with Jacob's linguistic knowledge, he's able to act as a middleman. The DOSA agents agree to reinstate the forest's protected status, while the Librarians agree to put the Grandfather Tree's acorn into the Library for safekeeping, in case the Tree ever needs to be replanted.

* TheAssimilator: When Jacob is taken by the trees, the others find him partially-absorbed into the Grandfather Tree's trunk. Subverted, all the Tree wanted was an interpreter to talk to the humans. Jacob, with his linguistic knowledge, fits the bill. After that's done, the trees release everyone they have absorbed over the past centuries, including a Spanish conquistador.
* ChainsawGood: The lead DOSA agent tries to cut down the Grandfather Tree with a glowing chainsaw, only for the trees to swat him away with their branches.
* CosmicKeystone: Apparently, if the Grandfather Tree is ever destroyed, all the forests across the world will die with it. The Tree gives the Librarians an acorn to replant it, in case it's ever destroyed. The Librarians agree to keep it safe in the Library.
* HeartbrokenBadass: Eve is deeply hurt by Flynn's leaving, especially without talking to her first. She mentions all the times he left and came back, and she took him back without question. This time, though, she's done.

When she sneaks into their cabin at one point, they catch her and reveal themselves to be DOSA agents, annoyed at the Librarians interfering with their investigation.
* WhenTreesAttack: The trees start taking people from the camp, eventually taking Jacob. Subverted, all they wanted was an interpreter to talk to the human authorities. After they manage to do it with Jacob's help, they release everyone they have taken over the centuries.
