Anakin loses R2-D2 during a space battle and is assigned a replacement astromech droid, R3-S6. R2 isn't dead, [[SavedByCanon of course]], but he's fallen into the clutches of Trandoshan scavenger Gha Nachkt, who, after an encounter with Anakin and Ahsoka, on the hunt for R2, starts to wonder if this droid he found might be valuable. Anakin wants to search for R2, but is instead ordered by Obi-Wan to hunt for a hidden Separatist listening post.

* AllOfThem: Grievous orders "everything we have" launched against Anakin Skywalker, re-iterating the first part when a battle droid points out the overkill of sending all their fighters against one that can't escape them.

It's not that strange, even for an otherwise nice guy like Obi-Wan.

* InnocentlyInsensitive: ''Very'' oddly for a Jedi, Obi-Wan fails to realize how important R2 is to Anakin and says, "Well, astromech droids are a dime a dozen".

* RightForTheWrongReason: Anakin spends the episode hating R2's replacement, but he hates it because it's trying to replace R2, not because, well, it's a Separatist spy trying to kill him.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: At one point during R3 and Anakin's shenanigans in space, Anakin complains that the astromech droid is trying to kill him. As the next episode shows, he's entirely right.

* TheMillstone: R3 nearly gets Anakin killed repeatedly, to Anakin's considerable annoyance.
