Back in East Ardougne, Elena tells you she had good samples of the plague in the previous quest, but the Mourners took her Distillator from her. You have to sneak back in with the help of Jerico, a pigeon-owner, who lends you some pigeons to distract the Mourners in the Watchtower while you sneak in the city. You need to get in the Mourners Headquarters, so after adding a rotten apple to their food they all fall ill and require a doctor. After infiltrating the headquarters disguised as the doctor, you kill a mourner to get the key for Elena's Distillator. Back in East Ardougne, Elena's tests give strange results. She wants you to take a sample to Guidor in the fenced area behind the Zamorak Temple in Varrock, so that he can get better results in the tests.

You smuggle the samples in with three people found near the Rimmington Chemist: Da Vinci, Hops and Chancy. You disguise yourself as a priest so that Guidor's wife will let you get to Guidor and you find out there is no plague. Elena will suggest you to talk with King Lathas to tell him the news of your discoveries. King Lathas then admits he has made up the plague to protect his people from the "dark lord" who took control over King Tyras, king of West Ardougne and brother. King Tyras journeyed to the western lands behind the mountains and now King Lathas wants your help to track him down.

Back Elena is safe in East Ardougne, Elena tells you Adrougne, but she's not done yet- she had good samples of wants to find out what the plague actually is so she can get started on curing it. During her stay in the previous quest, West Adrougne, she was able to take some good plague samples, but she can't do anything without her Distillator, which the Mourners took her Distillator from her. She wants you to go take it back. The sewer tunnel has been found and blocked off, so you need to go a different route- climbing a rope over the wall, distracting the Mourner guards with pigeons.

Once there, you sneak into the Mourner headquarters by poisoning their food and pretending to be a nurse there to help them, then killing a Mourner for a key to the cage Elena's stuff is in (Don't worry, we're ''pretty'' sure he had it coming). Once Elena has her stuff, she uses liquid honey, ethenea, and sulphuric bromide to get the
sample to Guidor in react with the fenced area behind the Zamorak Temple in Varrock, so that he can get better touch paper, and change its color. The results in of the tests.

test... nothing. The touch paper hasn't changed at all.

Elena is confused by this result and asks you to get her mentor, Guidor, to do
the samples in with three people found near test to confirm that she's done it right. She hands you a plague sample, ethenea, and sulphuric bromide and tells you to go to the chemist at Rimmington Chemist: to get some touch paper.

Word of somebody carrying plague samples has spread, and you shouldn't tell the chemist about it unless you want to trek back to Elena for another sample. However, if you just say that you want to meet up with Guidor for some chemistry things on Elena's behalf, he'll be accomodating. You can't get through to the fenced-off section of Varrock where Guidor lives with all of the reagents in your inventory, so he'll tell you to give one vial each to his three assistants, Chancey, Hops, and
Da Vinci, Hops and Chancy. You disguise yourself as a priest so that tell them to meet you at the inn near Guidor's wife house.

The assistants each must be given a specific vial, because they'll lose the other two. Chancey
will let you gamble away the ethenea and the sulphuric bromide, because they're valuable, but he can't do this with the liquid honey, which is worthless. Hops will drink the ethenea and the liquid honey, but he isn't stupid enough to try to drink sulphuric bromide, which is very poisonous. Da Vinci will want to use the reagents in his artwork, but will be stymied by the ethenea, which is colorless.

Meet up with the assistants at Varrock and
get the reagents back, then dress up as a priest to get through Guidor's wife, who otherwise won't allow visitors. Guidor will perform the same test as Elena, and you find out get the same result: The touch paper doesn't change, and so there is no plague. Elena will suggest you to talk nothing wrong with the sample at all.

The plague that has devastated West Adrougne is fake.

You return to Adrougne and tell Elena, then confront
King Lathas to tell him the news of your discoveries. King Lathas then Lathas, who quarantined West Adrougne. He admits he has made up that the plague is fake, but says that it's to protect his the people from the "dark lord" who took control over his brother King Tyras, king of who has been corrupted by a strange being known as the Dark Lord.
