Brock's Golbat is drawn to a supersonic sound wave from a broken detector belonging to an archaeologist named Tierra. She explains that she is looking for the remains of a temple belonging to an ancient queen who could control Pokémon by using a special mask and staff. Since most of her equipment was destroyed in an undescribed accident, our heroes decide to help her finish her dig, but trouble arises when Team Rocket manages to find the mask and staff first.
