Hiroshi meets with Izuzu, who says she has something she wants to tell him. Hiroshi admits he has something he wants to talk to her about as well, and she proposes they walk to the park so they won't be interrupted. Once they reach the park, Isuzu tells Hiroshi she wasn't sure until now, but finally understands that she's fallen in love with him. She proclaims she won't let anyone get in the way of her feelings and moves to kiss him, but just before she does so Hiroshi sees her eyes begin to glow red, like her brother's had. Terrified, he tries to escape, but Isuzu pins him against the stairs of a slide in a display of superhuman strength, gripping his arm tight enough to make it bleed. As he begs her to let him go, Isuzu reiterates her love for him, but as she moves in to kiss him she's interrupted by the chiming of bells. Catching the glint of a scythe in the darkness, Isuzu smiles menacingly as the masked woman wielding the scythe emerges from the shadows. Isuzu sneers that she knew the woman would show up and that she has no right stopping her, revealing the woman's identity as none other than Nemuru. Unmasking herself, Nemuru issues an ultimatum: if Isuzu releases Hiroshi, she will be spared and the incident will be forgotten. Isuzu refuses, stating that Hiroshi is her first and true love, and asks how she can be assured Nemuru would keep her word. Nemuru states that all Kamibito have a night where the moon brings out their bestial side, but Isuzu rebukes her and proclaims her feelings again. Nemuru furiously shouts at Isuzu to open her eyes to the truth, and Isuzu angrily counters by asking if Nemuru will kill her like she did Issei if she doesn't. Nemuru retorts that she doesn't want to, but Isuzu pulls out a pair of knives and lunges at her. After a short but intense fight, Isuzu is disarmed. Nemuru gives her a final chance to surrender, but Isuzu refuses, grabbing Hiroshi and leaping away.

That night, as a storm rages overhead Jōga's town council meets in a dark room in Old Jōga, siting around a candle and vehemently debating what course of action to take: the abnormally hot summer and small hassaku harvest are causing issues. One man loudly suggests exterminating the root of the problem, but is talked down by the others. Another man states that eliminating all the Fallen at once is impossible and best dealt with one at a time, but that the current issue can be alleviated by killing only one person, arguing that taking decisive action is better than being caught up in old traditions and acting too late. Sitting behind a paper door, Nemuru quietly listens to their conversation.

In Jōga's hospital, Sakaki meets with Shigetsu and says the pills work in alleviating the villagers' symptoms, and Shigetsu asks if Sakaki will aid in mass producing them. Sakaki sinisterly reveals he knows about the Kamibito, and asks the doctor to unleash his true form.

Isuzu misses class the following day, so Hiroshi offers to drop off the notes she missed. When Isuzu's mother answers the door, he asks after her and is told she's alright, but when he asks to come in she slams the door in his face. As he turns to leave, Hiroshi sees a carving of a wolf's head and a hassaku orange on the ground next to the door. Isuzu's mother breaks down in tears, blaming Hiroshi for Issei's death. Isuzu overhears and grumps at her for sending him away, but her mother stops her from going after him, tearfully begging her to stay. Isuzu angrily retorts that she's different from her brother, and her mother collapses in tears, ruing the day they left Old Jōga. Nemuru stands on a nearby outcropping overlooking the apartment complex, watching the setting sun.

Over dinner, Mana tells Hiroshi that Issei abruptly moved to Tokyo, surprising him. Masaki remarks that Isuzu must be lonely without him, since they seemed to get along so well. In her apartment, Isuzu sits on her bed, biting her fingernail. The next morning, she greets Hiroshi with her characteristic enthusiasm. At school, the teacher notes Isuzu's absence the day before, quipping that he'll let her go but that anyone else caught skipping class would be skinshipped. While the other students laugh, Hiroshi notices Nemuru glaring at him over her shoulder. At lunch, Hiroshi confronts Isuzu on the roof and expresses concern over how strange she's been acting. Isuzu attempts to brush him off, but falters noticeably when Hiroshi brings up Issei's disappearance. He offers to help her in any way he can, and she admits she wants to confide in him but is interrupted by the bell signalling the beginning of class.

Isuzu asks Hiroshi to meet her at the playground, exiting a phone booth while singing the hassaku jingle. While the town council continues their debate over how to best resolve the problem affecting the Kamibito, Nemuru removes her kimono and dresses in a ceremonial white kimono, her purple hair turning white in the process. One of her attendants interrupts the town council meeting to announce that Nemuru has chosen to disregard her duties and pursue a target she chose herself.

When Hiroshi hesitates in answering if he feels the same, Isuzu tearfully wonders if Nemuru was right, reaffirming her feelings a final time before deciding not to go through with them as Nemuru emerges from the shadows. Stating that there are rules that have to be obeyed, Isuzu admits she doesn't want to die before jumping off the roof, to Hiroshi's horror. She is caught by Nemuru's acolytes, who carry her away. When Hiroshi tries to follow, he is blocked by Nemuru, who tells him that if he truly cares for Isuzu he'll leave her alone for the time being. Hiroshi angrily rebukes Nemuru, demanding answers about the strange goings on and why she committed murder, but Nemuru's only response is to ram the handle of her scythe into his sternum, knocking him out and leaving her standing over him with a sorrowful expression.

Hiroshi meets with Izuzu, who says she has something she wants to tell him. Hiroshi admits he has something he wants to talk to her about, and she proposes they walk to the park so they won't be interrupted. Once they reach the park, Isuzu tells Hiroshi she wasn't sure until now, but finally understands that she's fallen in love with him. Isuzu proclaims she won't let anyone get in the way of her feelings and moves to kiss him, but just before she does so Hiroshi sees her eyes begin to glow red, like her brother's had. He tries to escape, but Isuzu displays superhuman strength, pinning him against the stars of a slide and gripping his arm tight enough to make it bleed. As he begs her to let him go, Isuzu reiterates her love for him, but as she moves in for another kiss, she's interrupted by the chiming of bells. Catching the glint of a scythe in the darkness, Isuzu smiles menacingly as the masked woman wielding the scythe emerges from the shadows. Isuzu sneers that she knew the woman would show up and that she has no right stopping her, revealing the woman's identity as Nemuru. Unmasking, Nemuru issues an ultimatum: if Isuzu releases Hiroshi, Nemuru will spare her and the ordeal will be forgotten. Isuzu refuses, stating that Hiroshi is her first and true love, and asks how she can be assured Nemuru would keep her word. Nemuru states that all Kamibito have a night where the moon brings out their bestial side, and isuzu rebukes her and reaffirms her feelings. Nemuru furiously shouts at Isuzu to open her eyes to the truth, and Isuzu angrily counters by asking if she'll kill her like she did Issei if she doesn't. Nemuru retorts that she doesn't want to, but Isuzu pulls out a pair of knives and lunges at her. After a short but intense fight, Isuzu is disarmed. Nemuru gives her a final chance to surrender, but Isuzu refuses, grabbing Hiroshi and running.

Taking refuge on a rooftop, Hiroshi asks Isuzu for answers, and she counters by asking if he loves her, stating that she loves him so much that she does't need anything else, and if she could be together with him just once then she would gladly pay the price for it. When Hiroshi hesitates in answering if he feels the same, Isuzu tearfully wonders if Nemuru was right, reaffirming her feelings a final time before dividing not to go through with them as Nemuru emerges from the shadows. Stating that there are rules that have to be obeyed, Isuzu jumps off the roof to Hiroshi's horror, but is caught by Nemuru's acolytes.

* OhCrap: While Hiroshi started hyperventilating when Isuzu forced him to cop a feel, he really started panicking when her eyes lit up.

In class, Hiroshi looks worriedly over to Isuzu's empty desk. He finds her sitting on the roof, where she remarks she needed some time alone to think, before commenting on the cloudy weather.

Cue opening theme.

That night, as a storm rages overhead a group of men meet in a dark room in Old Jōga, siting around a candle and vehemently debate what course of action to take: the abnormally hot summer and small hassaku harvest are causing issues. One man loudly suggests exterminating the root of the problem, but is talked down by the others. One man states that eliminating all the Fallen at once is impossible and best dealt with one at a time, but that the current issue can be alleviated by killing only one person, arguing that taking decisive action is better than being caught up in old traditions and acting too late.

He offers to help her in any way he can, and she admits she wants to confide in him, but is interrupted by the bell signalling the beginning of class.

At Kaori's house, Mana practises the violin. She expresses dismay at her lack of progress, and as she bickers with Hiroshi Kaori suddenly comes down with a coughing fit severe enough to cause her to fall over. Cutting the lesson short, Mana and Hiroshi wish her a speedy recovery and head home, but pass a group of elderly villagers who they recognize from the other day. At her house, Kaori pants in exhaustion, wiping her forehead to reveal her arm is covered in bulging veins. Watching Hiroshi and Mana from her bedroom window, Isuzu agonizes over her feelings for him and wonders if she's any different from her brother. Reaffirming her feelings for Hiroshi, Isuzu vows not let anyone stand in her way.

Isuzu overhears grumps at her for sending him away, but her mother stops her from going after him, tearfully begging her to stay. Isuzu angrily retorts that she's different from her brother, and her mother collapses in tears, ruing the day they left Old Jōga. Nemuru stands on a nearby outcropping overlooking the apartment complex, watching the setting sun.

At home that evening, Hiroshi and his father are watching the eternally-recurring hassaku commercial when the phone rings. Isuzu asks Hiroshi to meet her at the playground, exiting a phone booth while singing the hassaku jingle. While the town council continues their debate over how to best resolve the problem affecting the Kamibito, Nemuru removes her kimono and dresses in a ceremonial costume, her purple hair turning white in the process. One of her attendants interrupts the meeting to announce that Nemuru has chosen to disregard her duties and pursue a target she chose herself.
