Right before Halloween, Officer Papermouth visits Orel's class to talk about how the best costumes are those related to God. Orel and his friends go through a haunted house hosted by the church, where's Orel's disappointed to find he wasn't scared once. He decides the best way to get scared is break the Ten Commandments, concluding that he could always repent after breaking them. Orel manages to break almost all of them in one day, but struggles with the idea of breaking 'thou shall not kill'. He ends up breaking it by accident when he guides an old man into the path of Clay's car. After a belting (which Clay gave because he didn't know Orel planned to repent), he sends Orel to Rev. Putty, who tells him that the only thing he ''should'' fear is God, as he created diseases, disasters, and foreign cultures.
