* TakeThat: The appearance of the demon hedgehog is meant to be a jab at Sonic's original design for the [[Film/SonicTheHedgehog2020 Sonic the Hedgehog 2020 live-action movie]], which wasn't well recieved.

* ForWantOfANail:
** To "[[Recap/GravityFallsS1E16CarpetDiem Carpet Diem]]": Dipper and Mabel swapped bodies while clearing out the new room for Vee and decide to make the most of it with Mabel using this opportunity to bond with Stan. On top of that since Candy and Grenda don't appear in this chapter, Gus, Wendy and Vee replace them during the mass body swapping.
** How Vee ended up in the human realm as well. She tried to steal the portal key and got caught but after explaining herself, Luz sympathized with her and suggested Eda send her to Gravity Falls (where she'd have plenty of magic to feed off of). After a few weeks crashing with the Multi-Bear, a HeatWave led to her [[Recap/GravityFallsS1E15TheDeepEnd sneaking into the pool and meeting Mermando who she helped return to the sea]] (which kept Mabel from meeting him). However, because she stole and damaged pool supplies, Mr. Poolcheck gave her a job to pay for the damages, allowing her to meet Wendy, then the twins with Dipper getting a job to help Vee pay off her debt while Mabel befriended and offered her to stay at the shack after convincing Stan.
** Gus [[Recap/TheOwlHouseS2E21KingsTide travels to Earth]] [[Recap/TheOwlHouseS3E1ThanksToThem and meets Vee]] earlier than he did in canon, and he meets her alone as opposed to doing so with the rest of the Hexsquad.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: InUniverse example. The Shadowy Secret Expozers break into a spontaneous dance number that leaves the Monster Figherss Club dumbfounded (or in Luz's case, itching to beat 'em up).

* WeMeetAgain: In a non-rival sense. Mattholomule greets Simon at the party, but Simon doesn't know who he is despite being in the same track.

* ADayInTheLimelight: Willow and Gus each get their own subplots in this chapter. Through Gus' subplot, Vee gets some focus too.

* WorkOffTheDebt: Luz came up with the Monster Fighters Club as a way repay the money she swindled from Amity. Since she doesn't hold it against her, the MFC decides to split all their profits.
