Four years prior, Patty needed to get some oxycodone for Neil after he broke his leg during one of his and Kevin's zany antics. After hearing a customer of hers at the salon complain about her pain medication being too expensive, Patty bought some cheap generic oxy to help her out, which soon grew into a side business for her. In the present, Patty finds that Allison has been pointed to her for painkillers. She reluctantly agrees to give Allison the pills the following Monday despite her knowing that Allison is not taking the pills for any back pain as she claims.

Allison continues to get harassed by Marcus; in response, Allison reports Marcus's drug dealings to the police. Marcus gets arrested and implicates Terrance, the pharmacist who had sold Patty the generic oxys. The police raid Terrance's pharmacy, putting Patty's business in jeopardy. Patty's boyfriend, Kurt, impulsively proposes to her.

* BlatantLies: After Kevin declares that anyone who says they don't pee in the shower is lying about that, Allison asks him if he does. He unconvincingly answers "no."

* HeterosexualLifePartners: This episode shows that Kevin, in true sitcom style, is much closer to Neil than he is to Allison. When the two get into a fierce competition to see who is the superior chili chef, Allison and Patty are respectively forced to spend more time with Kevin and Neil since they're no longer always together and find that they have to repair the friendship just to get some much-needed space from their ridiculous behavior. This is PlayedForLaughs in the multi-cam plot with the expected WomenAreWiser emphasis but takes on [[PlayedForDrama a darker edge]] in the single-cam segments, where Kevin's new clinginess is interfering with both Allison's ongoing plot to murder him and her efforts to spend time with an Old Flame.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Allison calls the cops on Marcus after getting fed up with his catcalling, anonymously reporting him as a drug dealer. It's a solid plan — except for the fact that after getting arrested, he outs Patty's supplier as the actual dealer, leaving her with no way of getting the oxycodone central to her plan to fake Kevin having an overdose.
