Twenty years ago, Vance and his partner Shane Milner planned for two years their heist of a London cargo ship containing diamonds making its way to New York. The ship was scheduled to make a refuel at Maine, which was where the two commenced their mission and almost pulled it off flawlessly. That is until the ship"s security noticed their escape boat and ended up shooting Shane while they were trying to get away. This caused Shane to pass out and fall into the sea and drowning with Vance unable to save him. Vance was not only charged with theft, but also murder. This prompted him to go on the lam under a false identity until he was found by [[spoiler:Shane's daughter Olivia]], seeking revenge for [[spoiler:her father’s death]].
