* KindheartedCatLover: Quagmire to the point of irritating his friends with how much he fawns over his cat.

* TechnicianVersusPerformer: Crops up a little during Brian's original protest in the park. He is the technician, as he stands on a stage and loudly addresses the facts of the situation. Every single person there ignores him no matter how loudly he talks. Stewie serves as performer, suggesting doing a fun song to get people invested in his cause. Brian takes his advice, and it works.

Added DiffLines:

* AllForNothing: Carter agrees to publish Brian's book in exchange for Brian completely changing his position on pot and making it illegal again. Brian does so, only for his book to be panned by every critic in America and not sell any copies.

Added DiffLines:

* BadBadActing: Carter and Peter's anti-cannabis video features this from both of them.

Added DiffLines:

* BlatantLies: Urging Brian not to take Carter's deal, Stewie says his book is good enough to publish on his own (all while giving a very forced smile and unconvincing line).
* HumiliationConga: Tom Tucker reports that Brian's book set a record as the worst selling novel of all time. Not even one copy was sold, due to the extensive panning from critics. To add further insult to it, Stewie builds a fort out of unsold books in the living room and refers to it as "a house made of mediocrity."

Added DiffLines:

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Carter's goons viciously beat Peter in the same episode that Peter killed Quagmire's cat and tried to cover that up.

Quagmire has recently adopted a stray cat that he calls James and Peter, Brian, Cleveland and Joe are annoyed that he spends more time with the cat than with them. As payback, the guys plan to shave James while Quagmire is in Vermont getting him a present, but Peter accidentally kills the cat with the razor and he and Brian take the dead body to hide it. They'r pulled over by the police, who treat Peter being covered in blood as no big deal. They do, however, agressivly arrest Brian when he's discovered to be in possession of cannabis. He is bailed out by the family and later that day, Joe comes over to the house demanding Brian's urine. Since he has recently smoked pot, he tries to give Stewie's urine to trick Joe, but Lois catches him and scolds him for going to such a low. Finally had enough, Brian decides to start a campaign to legalize marijuana in Quahog and holds a rally in the park. At first it doesn't go so well, but he gets everyone's support by performing an enthusiastic musical number with Stewie.

With marijuana legalized, the town improves with a decrease in crime and an increase in productivity. But Lois' father Carter is losing money because since hemp is being used to make everything instead of lumber and bribes Peter to assist him with an anti-marijuana campaign. Their attempts fail and Lois tells them that Brian's campaign worked because he was passionate about the cause. Carter then bribes Brian to publish his novel ''Faster Than the Speed of Love''. Brian at first refuses, but Stewie suggest he at least perform an anti-marijuana song since the book does not have enough merit to sell on its own. Brian reluctantly complies and pot is outlawed once more. Brian's novel is panned and doesn't sell a single copy, leaving Brian saddened that he sold out his beliefs for nothing. Quagmire comes by the house saying he'll give a reward to someone who can find James. Peter takes the reward, bluntly says he killed him and slams the door, ending the episode.
