* RewatchBonus: Heather has a distinct horn fastened onto her belt. While no attention is drawn to it here, this horn would later play a significant role during Heather's next appearance in [[Recap/DragonsRidersOfBerkS3E11HaveDragonWillTravelPart2 "Have Dragon Will Travel"]].

* BrickJoke: Hiccup is curious as to how Astrid is making Stormfly faster. In the middle of the climatic chase with Heather, he figures it out when Heather tosses a chicken leg to Stormfly. Astrid yells at Hiccup to focus when he asks her about it.

* KickTheDog: Heather after gaining Stormfly's trust snarks that maybe the dragon likes her better than she likes Astrid.

* SacredHospitality: Stoick and Hiccup offer this to Heather, putting her up in Hiccup's room. It's why he doesn't trust Astrid's suspicions when she catches Heather reading the book about Deadly Nadders.
* SaveTheVillain: Snotlout rescues Heather when Astrid knocks her off Stormfly, making a cheesy one-liner about it.
* SmarterThanYouLook: Heather, putting on TheIngenue act as TheMole shows a display of blacksmith knowledge when Hiccup is refining Toothless's connecting rod, and manages to help him increase Toothless's speed.

* TheVamp: Heather is a G-rated version; she just flatters.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Heather stealing the Book of Dragons after only getting a few days' worth of dragon training, ''plus'' stealing Stormfly. Learning how to ride a dragon quickly is very different from actually doing it, especially when more experienced riders are after you.

* GreenEyedMonster: Astrid claims this isn't the case, but she's subtly more offended by Heather interacting with Hiccup, and later Stormfly.

* GreenEyedMonster: Astrid claims this isn't the case, but she's subtly more offended by Heather interacting with Hiccup, and later Stormfly. This is why no one believes her after she sees Heather meeting with Savage.

* ItsPersonal: Once Heather makes off with Stormfly, Astrid gains enough reason and legitamate grievance to go after her.

* MyMasterRightOrWrong: PlayedWith in Stormfly's case. Although she does allow Heather to ride her to Outcast island, she follows Astrid's vocal commands while paying no attention to the girls wrestling on her back.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Both Astrid and Heather, when they wrestle on top of Stormfly. Astrid wins by knocking Heather off the dragon.

* TakeThatAudience: Around the time the episode was written, quite a few fics had been posted of mysterious pretty girls washing up on Berk, making Astrid jealous and attracting Hiccup's attention. This episode shows just how a scenario would occur, and just how it would be plausible.

* WoundedGazelleGambit: Heather claims to be the victim of a pirate attack to gain sympathy. [[spoiler:She's actually not lying, but that's for next episode.]]

to:

* WeNeedToGetProof: This is why no one believes Astrid when she suspects Heather of being more than "Little Miss Innocent"; at worst Heather takes the book to read, and only Astrid sees her meeting with Savage on the beach.
* WhamShot:
** For Astrid, seeing Heather meet with Savage on the beach.
** Alvin catching the falling Book of Dragons.

Added DiffLines:

* YouAreTooLate: The riders are just seconds late in stopping Alvin from getting the book, and they have to retreat back to Berk.

The teens of Berk find a mysterious girl named Heather on Thor's Beach. While Hiccup and the other teens openly welcome the newcomer, Astrid's jealousy turns to suspicion when she notices Heather is taking an unusual interest in the Book of Dragons.

* BreadEggsBreadedEggs: The guesses as to what Snotlout found:
-->'''Tuffnut:''' A severed head?
-->'''Ruffnut:''' Our cousin Lars?
-->'''Tuffnut:''' Our cousin Lars’ severed head?
-->'''Fishlegs:''' Lars died?
-->'''Tuffnut:''' Who said that?
* CasanovaWannabe: Snotlout, as usual, only this time, Heather's his target.
* {{Cliffhanger}}: Heather successfully delivers the Book of Dragons to Alvin, even though the Berk teens captured her.
* DemotedToExtra: Ruffnut isn't present for much of the episode, as neither Astrid nor Heather try to involve her in their tasks.
* TheDulcineaEffect: Hiccup quickly becomes guilty of this, and Heather exploits it for all it's worth.
* GenreBlind: A mysterious girl asking him about his dragon's combat capabilities does not ring any warning bells with Fishlegs.
* GreenEyedMonster: Astrid claims this isn't the case, but she's subtly more offended by Heather interacting with Hiccup, and later Stormfly.
* ImTakingHerHomeWithMe: Romance example; Snotlout decrees that since he saw her first, he gets to keep Heather.
* TheIngenue: Part of Heather's act is pretending to be sweet and innocent. All the boys are fooled.
* ItsPersonal: Once Heather makes off with Stormfly, Astrid gains enough reason and legitamate grievance to go after her.
* TheMole: Heather is one for the Outcasts.
* PowerUpFood: Fishlegs proves that Stormfly ''is'' getting faster. Astrid replies that she's been experimenting with her diet.
* RealityEnsues: Without any practical dragon training experience, Heather can barely control Stormfly, which becomes a problem while trying to escape on her.
* RescueRomance: Snotlout tries to invoke this, pointedly telling Heather he was the one who found her.
* TheVamp: Heather is a G-rated version; she just flatters.
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Heather claims to be the victim of a pirate attack to gain sympathy. [[spoiler:She's actually not lying, but that's for next episode.]]

* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Astrid says this word for word when she sees Hiccup skipping training to take Heather on a joyride.
