* OnlyOneFindsItFun: When the new legionaries are served their first meal, none of them can eat more than a few bites before giving up in disgust. All except Selectivemploymentax the Briton, who licks his bowl clean and says it's just like the food back home. In fact, after Asterix and Obelix "persuade" the cook to provide better quality food, Selectivemploymentax turns up his nose at it.

* TraineeFromHell: The Roman instructors have a very hard time getting Obelix to go through their training as he just uses his [[SuperStrength Super Strength]] to slap the enemy away. His javelin throws go through the training dummy, when the recruits are made to march while carrying heavy bags of rocks Obelix just picks them all up, and generally the entire squad becomes MildlyMilitary after the CampCook is... persuaded... to start making good food.

* BizarreTasteInFood: When sampling the Roman army's food (wheat, cheese and bacon, cooked together to save time), Asterix's entire multinational unit tastes one spoonful and violently rejects it. All except the Briton, who sincerely loves the stuff.
