* LaserGuidedKarma: Ziegler ends up killed by the pilot who he had incessantly taunted and shot down multiple times during the Spanish Civil War. Not only that, but his legacy is disgraced by Archer who managed to frame Ziegler to look like he and his wingman fell in love and stole two of their squadron's planes to run away, which would leave a very sour taste in the mouths of his fellow Nazi squadron-mates.

* StealingTheCredit: Pam easily dispatches (and kills) Ziegler, but Archer takes all the credit from his defeat.

* ItsAllAboutMe: Pam manages to take down Ziegler, blasting his craft with her machine gun. Archer, of course, believes it was his "million to one shot" that did it and Pam decides to let him just so he'll shut up about this.

* AlwaysSecondBest: [[{{Deconstruction}} Deconstructed]] here. Archer was constantly shot down by and even lost his eye to Ziegler, who insults and derides him as the inferior pilot between the two. However Ziegler didn't win by merit of superior skill but because of superior equipment (Archer was flying Russian biplanes for past fights against Ziegler's Messerschmitt Bf 109) and sneak attacks. Archer notably does better in their dogfight at the end because they're both in the same type of plane and Ziegler only does as much damage as he does because of another sneak attack to begin the fight.

** Archer manages to turn the tables on Ziegler by stealing one of the German Messerschmitt's to finally have a dogfight where he doesn't have a massive disadvantage in the quality of his aircraft. He ends up winning, more or less.

* CheeseEatingSurrenderMonkeys: Subverted. While the Germans do effortlessly occupy the French colony on the island, this is mostly because Reynaud is seemingly the only French soldier assigned to the place. That said, the Germans' method of dealing with him is quite humiliating.

** Charlotte seduces the Germans, as Malory wanted her to. But with Reynaud basically being the only French officer on the island and the Germans immediately stuffing him into a trash can, Charlotte is now the one with the dominant military force on the island to back her up. She orders Malory to make her breakfast.
