* HumanAliens: We finally get a look at Qovas. He looks like a regular human of African origin, meaning he's either part of the same Kree subrace as [[Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy Korath]], or he isn't Kree at all. The Remorath also appear like feral humans with war paint over their eyes and wearing facepieces.

** Tony Caine mentions Robin gave him a drawing of a "blue lady juggling someone's balls," referencing Sinara, who used a pair of hovering metallic balls as her WeaponOfChoice.

* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: The Confederacy assaults the Lighthouse, transporting a group of Remorath into the facility to hunt down and kill everyone in their way of the Gravitonium.

* ProphecyTwist: In the end it wasn't Daisy or Ruby who was infused with the Gravitonium--but Talbot.

* SimultaneousArcs: Tony Caine's oblique comment about New York suggests that events of ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' are happening concurrently with this episode. Presumably, this is why a spaceship can assault the Lighthouse without a military response; they're a bit busy with the one in the major city to notice another in a small, lakeside town.

* YouCantFightFate: Yo-Yo realizes too late that her future self's warning of them not to save Coulson wasn't just because Coulson was dying, but because Talbot was with him when Coulson was rescued. With Talbot now becoming Graviton, it would appear that prophecy is on its way of being fulfilled. Not only that, this makes her realize that she killed Ruby for no good reason.

** When the Lighthouse's systems register the Confederacy ship over it, a menu of options begins appearing. Coulson decides to select [[TitleDrop Option Two]]: Nuclear Attack before learning that Option Three is AlienInvasion. This causes the Lighthouse to enter an automated lockdown to protect those inside from nuclear fallout, for fifteen years. It does nothing but lock them inside because the Remoraths can teleport.

* RedShirt: Aside from Piper and Davis (and newcomer Agent Kim), pretty much all the agents who are not part of Team Coulson are killed by the Remoraths.

* TookALevelInBadass: Talbot infuses himself with the Gravitonium, which allows him to take out the Remoraths with a simple glance.

* DatelessGrave: In keeping with the show's tendency to not show hard dates, Jiaying's grave doesn't have any listed (though considering that it follows real time fairly closely, we know the death year is 2015). Strangely her surname is also covered, though it appears to say 'Johnson'. ''Why'' it's covered isn't clear.

* CompositeCharacter: Glenn Talbot becomes the MCU version of Graviton.
