* SimulatedFantasyPostApocalypticReality: Jake, Finn, and [=BMO=] end up on a lost colony of humans who have survived [[WorldWarIII the Great Mushroom War]] where all the citizens have become hopelessly addicted to virtual reality, leaving the entire city and their basic needs to be taken care of by robot drones. Jake "unplugs" everyone, only for them to find that the human population has become so used to living in {{Cyberspace}} that they have no clue how to function in reality.

!!Tropes:
* AntiEscapismAesop: Jake insists living in VR is bad, and even destroys the machine everyone is using, [[SubvertedTrope but he's really oversimplifying things]]. As pathetic as the humans on the island are, they really can't live much any other way, and BMO defends their world as no less real than any other. BMO still decides to leave after rebuilding, but mostly because they would miss Finn and Jake.
* ChestBurster: Jake wraps his body around a giant egg, and when the bird inside hatches its beak pokes out of Jake's chest.
* CyberSpace: The humans of this island wear VR gear at all times while robots take care of their physical needs.
* EverythingIsOnline: The VR world is hooked up to an "island chain brain frame" that tells everything about the islands, and instantly finds Susan.
* EyepatchOfPower: BMO's avatar is a giant muscular figure wearing eyepatches on their ''arm and legs''.
* FantasticSlur: The people use "system dump" as an insult to call someone a loser or weirdo.
* FutureSlang: The people in VR have developed an exaggerated version of internet slang that's nearly incomprehensible.
* IDontKnowMortalKombat: The humans forced out of VR don't understand that "get x" console commands don't work in real life.
* LikeADuckTakesToWater: BMO immediately takes to the VR world, becoming a well-respected moderator and designer.
* NonHumanHead: BMO's avatar is a giant humanoid with their real-world body for a head.
* ReactiveContinuousScream: Jake and Finn create their VR profiles while screaming in shock as being in the system, resulting in them both having "AHHHHH!" for a username and [[RummageSaleRejects random crap]] for an avatar.
* StatingTheSimpleSolution: Jake says they can take just BMO out of the VR by force, but gets an electroshock when he tries to take the headset off.
