He has attempted to assert some control, but this has backfired. When he died the throne was left in his brother, Tommen Baratheon. Unlike Joffrey he was kind, innocent and overall a good person. Unfortunately that made him easy to manipulate, a PuppetKing.
* Most know already, but it should be stated that he's not actually Robert's son. Rather, he and his sibling are the product of the queen's [[BrotherSisterIncest incestuous relationship with her brother]] Jaime. Him not being Robert's son [[ChocolateBaby was kind of obvious]], and upon learning this in the pantheon Robert was furious. Cersei hopes to keep this information from Tommen, which has surprisingly worked. Given his kind nature, good-hearted gods would rather him not learn.
* Because of his youth and kind nature, he is easy to manipulate. Varys, Littlefinger and for a time his own grandfather made easy work controlling him to their best efforts. He has attempted to assert some control, but this has backfired. Jafar is currently trying to manipulate him as he did the Sultan, in hopes of trying his hand at conquering Westeros after his failure at Agrabah. Jasmine noticed this and doesn't want him to go the same road her sultan father did.
* Nominally enemies with the Starks and Martells, however it's only because of his loyalty to the Lannisters. From what little he's been told of the Mountain's monumental sins, he only lets him around because his mom has told him to and needs the protection. Oberyn has nothing again Tommen, it's just that the feud between their families has gotten ugly. Jaime meanwhile is overjoyed to see his nephew/actual son in the pantheon, though this might further fray his relationship with Cersei.
* Saw a lot of his assumed father in King Henry VIII, and thought he could befriend him. Instead Henry detested him due to his own issues with his second wife Anne Boleyn and the comparisons between his mother and Anne Boleyn. [[Pantheon/{{Accessories}} Elizabeth the First]] was more compassionate towards him.
* He was deeply traumatized about what happened to his wife Margaery Tyrell, [[spoiler:being killed by his mother in the massacre at the Sept of Baelor]]. So much so [[spoiler:he took his own life]]. As such he was overjoyed to see she had ascended, [[Pantheon/{{Royalty}} and in the same house as him]]. When he tried to reunite with her however he took a wrong turn and ended up meeting Irene Alder, [[Creator/NatalieDormer who he mistook for Margaery]]. This resemblance led him [[spoiler:to oppose Moriarty on grounds of giving her a bad name]].
* [[KindheartedCatLover Really likes cats]], and managed to petition Ser Pounce to join him in the Trope Pantheon. Someone jokingly suggested [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7sh3rG96Ew Ser Pounce was Azor Ahai]], which Tommen took seriously of all things. He is friendly to all cats, and one of his royal decrees was for Westeros to protect the Pantheon/{{Felines}} sub-house. Trying to help Sakaki get along better with cats.
* He likes felines, but makes an exception with Scar. Like what he believes Renly and Stannis Baratheon to be, Scar is a usurper, an EvilUncle and [[CainAndAbel a brother-killer]] who must be opposed. Mufasa and Simba are grateful for the help, and wish to see a kind-hearted king like himself to grow into being strong-willed. Eric Cartman admries his love of cats and is willing to help, but giving he's a {{Jerkass}} Tommen doesn't like being around him. He's only given a position to help with cats, which Cartman will inevitably use for his own purposes.
* Though it is very hard for Tommen to hate anyone, he detests Dio Brando for cruelly killing a cat and tricking people into eating it. Or generally killing animals [[KickTheDog to be a dick]]. While he doesn't hate Prince Charmless per-say, he gets more annoyed than most people as [[RoyalBrat his personality]] reminds him of his brother. This got Charmless angry as [[HateSink while utterly intolerable]], [[EveryoneHasStandards he considers Joffrey a psychopath]] and hates Tommen for the comparison.
* Because of how he's been manipulated and his [[AbusiveParents abusive mother]], N feels bad for him and wants to help him grow a backbone. Ghetsis meanwhile wishes that N could've been as WeakWilled as part of his takeover scheme.
