** Throughout the scene, the Belchers become more and more breathless as they talk. It's hard to tell if it's the panic and stress of what happened, or if their conversation is burning through what little oxygen they have.

** The scene where the Belchers get trapped in the hole is perhaps [[SurpriseCreepy the darkest moment in the series]] ''period''. All five Belchers are trapped in the bumper car with no way to break past the glass, and Grover piles dirt on top of them in the hopes of killing them via suffocation. The air is thinning in the car as they all try to cry out for help and have to come up with some kind of plan to escape. Anyone who's claustrophobic in the audience probably isn't going to have a good time with this scene.

* Grover is NightmareFuel incarnate once he's revealed as the BigBad. At first, when he's revealed, you can somewhat empathize with his goals of wanting the Wonder Wharf to transform into a better park, and its understandable that he would want to get back at the Fischoeder Brothers, considering that they hate him mostly because he's poor. However, he quickly loses all sympathy as it becomes clear just how far he's willing to go to fulfill his goals, up to and including killing an innocent carnie, two of his relatives, and eventually a ''family of five who did nothing wrong,'' [[WouldHurtAChild including three children.]] Grover is perhaps the closest the series has gotten to a CompleteMonster.

* When Louise tries to test her own courage by lowering herself into the sinkhole, where she gets stuck, and then [[spoiler: finds a human skeleton which falls right on top of her, causing her to shriek in terror. Then its teeth fall into her mouth.]] The whole ordeal would leave any child traumatized, even one as tough as Louise.

* The movie contains a lot of it after [[spoiler:the reveal of Grover Fischoeder as the BigBad]]. Special mention to when [[spoiler:the Belchers try to escape him through a tunnel, only to look back and see Grover ''barreling'' towards them on all fours (crawling less like a human would and more like a ''spider'')]], as well as during the subsequent chase scene [[spoiler:when they come across a funhouse mirror and are promptly {{Jump Scare}}d by Grover driving ''through'' it, with a murderous look on his face as he heads directly for them]]. To top it all off, the scene ends with [[spoiler:Grover knocking the Belchers into the sinkhole and nearly burying them alive]].

Adult Fear is now a disambig

* After leaving the carnies, a scary looking carnie follows the Belcher kids and corners them in an alley. Thankfully he just wanted to help them but it was still AdultFear.
