** There's a moment in the swamp levels where Englehorn finally lands his plane, to pick up the others. Everyone cheers happy, hoping to escape their long nightmares at last. You and you're friends are just a few feet away from going home and suddenly.. a V-Rex charges out of nowhere and crushes any hopes of leaving as the plane understandably flies away. The way the timing V-Rex charges makes you think it and to an extent the island, will not let you leave.

** We have some wonderful moments where the player (through the first-person perspective of Jack Driscoll)
must prevent a pursuing V. Rex from devouring your comrades. You can do this by shooting a Terapusmordax overhead, buying them a few precious extra seconds while it grabs the convenient appetizer before resuming its pursuit. But the more effective way is to throw a spear or empty a Thompson drum mag into its hide. The Rex will pause and turn to look straight at you. Then the color drains from the screen leaving it black & white, the controls freeze (in fear), the camera focuses on the beast while the periphery blurs, and the whole image shakes when it ROARS at you. It was a hungry apex predator who saw you as easy prey, but fifty rounds of man-stopping .45 ACP from one of the most devastating submachine guns ever made...just pissed it off. Run. Like. Hell.

* Everytime you encounter the V-Rexes, especially if you're playing as Jack. there is absolutely nothing you can do, your weapons no matter how much ammo they have are completely useless, all you can do is.. run.

run.
** The first time you run into one deserves mention. The other characters (mainly Preston) mentions being chased by a large monster. At this point you'd assume maybe it'll just get encountered later, and that the game is simply setting up this moment. Instead, one marches up, eats Preston, and then starts chasing after you.

* The natives.
** You first encounter them stalking you while whispering gibberish. Then at the end of the level, Ann and Jack has to open two doors to cross a small pool, when they get to the second and suddenly it becomes quiet, a sinister strings is heard as the door slowly opens..then you'll see not just one or two.. but a whole goddamn Tribe of them waiting.
--> Jack : Oh my God.. ( One of em then knicks Jack out with a spear).
** Your second encounter with them although your with your crew now accompanying you is still a bit unsettling. After rescuing Jimmy, Jack, Carl, and Hayes moves to cross a short swamp and then suddenly..you hear those whispers again.

** Their younger counterparts, while killable when playing as Jack, are awfully strong and can still destroy the stone structures on which you can hide, leaving you and your team completely at their mercy.
* The giant centipedes and milipedes were only in the movie to creep Ann (and the viewers) out. Here, they're now bigger and dangerous, being able to launch themselves at you, constrict their prey much like a boa or a python and can even hide in holes from which they can jump to give you a nasty JumpScare. While they don't have lots of health, their ferociousness and the fact they usually attack in large groups has made them the terror of many players.
* Some levels include pretty narrow corners and caverns with poor illumination, which may be very uncomfortable for those who suffer claustrophobia. Not helped by the fact that giant centipedes usually love to hide there.
