Both Mark and the audience are made to witness a darker, more horrific reality to Superheroism.

** As this is happening the GDA, Guardians of the Globe, and Debbie are watching. Debbie has to hear her husband claim that he loved her like a "pet" and that her life wasn't worth anything in the grand scheme of things and then beat their son nearly to death.
** Even ''after'' all that, Mark is still clearly scarred by, not just his battle with his father, but also his ''other'' failures. He remembers what his father said to him about wanting to be [[TheParagon like him]] with heartwarming music and wholesome scenes, before the music, speech, and scenes start to worsen to show his failures and shift Nolan's speech over to what it ''actually'' means to be a [[TheBrute Viltrumite]].

** Nolan continues to state how pointless and worthless humanity is and how he is above them, and then crushes a father reaching out for his daughters. He then claims that he has been going easy on Mark, and starts punching around helplessly.

** Finally he throws Invincible to a mountain, causing an avalanche that takes out a village, and beats him senselessly until Mark is once more covered in blood and has ripped skin on his nose and lips. He then callously claims he can just make another kid after killing Mark, and that 17 years wasn't a long time for him.

** Worse, fans of the comic may recognize [[EarlyBirdCameo one of the Viltrumites]] who appears that flashback - '''[[BloodKnight Con]][[TheDreaded quest.]]''' Nothing good can come of this.
* Once Nolan recognizes that Mark won't listen to reason, he decides to [[BreaktheCutie emotionally break him]] into realizing how meaningless humanity is by going on a killing spree. What follows is some of the most nightmarish and violent imagery in the entire show ([[UptoEleven which, given the show's history with gore, is saying a lot]]).

** He immediately goes to the subway, and stands in the middle of the rails, allowing a train to run into him and Mark, and splattering all the passengers into Mark, and then crushes a surviving passenger under the rubble. Mark emerges from the carnage, horrified and soaked in all of the victims' blood.

** Nolan continues to state how pointless and worthless humanity is and how he is above them, and then crushes a father reaching out for his daugher.

*** [[[BystanderActionHorrorDissonance It can't be understated how horrifyingly tragic this scene is for nearly everyone.]] The very act of Invincible ''landing'' causes a surge of debris - cars and pieces of the street go flying, crushing thousands of innocent civilians. When the building collapses, Mark desperately tries to save the civilians inside, telling them to hold on and that everything's going to be okay...and then the buildings collapses around them, killing everyone except Mark. When the dust settles, [[HeroicBSOD the only thing he can do is collapse to his knees in tears, overcome with guilt and trauma.]] It makes the final fight in Film/ManofSteel look positively benign in comparison.

** At first, when Omni-Man first attacks the group, he goes for the kill on Aquarus, but per typical superhero shows, the speedster Red Rush pulls his teammate out of the way in time and makes his move on the enemy. And then Omni-Man grabs Red Rush's head and starts crushing it, and then you realize [[WellThisIsNotThatTrope this is not your typical superhero show]].

** Worse, fans of the comics will recognize one of the Viltrumites who shows up - '''[[EarlyBirdCameo Con]][[TheDreaded quest.]]'''
* Nolan pulls no punches in beating up Mark once he makes it clear he won't join the Viltrumites. He then decides to beat him up and massacre many humans just to prove how fragile they are.

** He later throws Mark into a crowded city, killing an untold number of people. A building begins to crumble, and Invincible tries to save a mother and a child but fails after the building collaspes, and the only thing left of them is a severed arm.

* After the title screen is shown in the first episode as pristine and clean with a triumphant music; each following episode has [[EvolvingCredits more and more blood being sprayed across it]] with a ScareChord out of a horror show.

* Nolan reveals the true colors of the Viltrumite Empire; they are not peaceful protectors but tyrannical conquerors. They created a society where only the strongest survive, and we see a montage of Viltrumites murdering each other to prove their strength.
* Nolan pulls no punches in beating up Mark once he makes it clear he won't join the Viltrumites.

** He later throws Mark into a crowded city, killing an untold number of people. A building begins to crumble, and Invincible tries to save a mother and a child but fails after the building collaspes, and the only thing left of them is a severed arm

* They honestly asked for it, but Omni-Man's genocide of the Flaxan race when he crosses their portal. He starts off by pulverizing their commander, flying him through the civilization's structures until there's nothing left but part of his skull in Omni-Man's hands, which he quickly crushes.
** Then Omni-Man starts destroying the rest of Flaxan just by flying through their cities, causing massive shockwaves and explosions engulfing the areas due to his extreme flight speeds. As if to demonstrate the scale of destruction and Omni-Man's speed, we're given a shot his trail of destruction from orbit, zig-zagging through the planet's surface in seconds before taking out a space station in a fraction of a second.

*** Another thing should be noted. By the time the scientists open the portal, Omni-Man has grown a full beard. Due to Flaxan's different flow of time compared to Earth, Omni-Man spent months tearing the planet and its cities asunder.

* The fact that the GDA's 400 million dollar KillSat only gave Omni-Man a ''nosebleed''. After hitting him '''twice.'''

Furthermore while this is going on, the Sequids are taking over Mars, Battle Beast is still looking for a fight, the Flaxxans have completely recovered from Omni-Man's destruction of their home, Doc Seismic is still alive and has become the leader of Lava people. And even though they will hopefully be used as a force for good, Cecil having an army of reanimen is unsettling.

* The ending reveals that even though Nolan abandoned his post, the Viltrimites will likely come back to Earth to take it over. Furthermore while this is going on, the Sequids are taking over Mars, Battle Beast is still looking for a fight, the Flaxxans have completely recovered from Omni-Man's destruction of their home, Doc Seismic is still alive and has become the leader of Lava people.

** Finally he throws Invincible to a mountain, causing an avalanche that takes out a village, and beats him senselessly until Mark is covered in blood and has ripped skin on his nose and lips.

** Similarly, his second death is brutal. Omni-Man guts him and bisects him brutally.
