** Urdak is actually the DOOM counterpart of Heaven, and not some CrystalDragonJesus version. The Maykrs are angels and The Father is {{GOD}}. It's outright stated that Urdak and the Maykrs are the inspiration behind basically every positive interpretation of the afterlife in the DOOM universe, including the Abrahamic religions. And not just for humanity, for thousands, possibly even millions of species throughout the multiverse. And although they weren't always as horrible as they have been recently, the current Khan Maykr (who, due to the physiology of the Maykr species, has unquestioned control) is [[LightIsNotGood perfectly fine with causing indescribable suffering on countless worlds to maintain their life and power]].

** His admittedly awesome [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE9fiPC6Jxw boss theme]] stands out compared to other boss themes in the game, with a blend of fast-paced [=EDM=] sounds and ethereal choir - there are times where the song sounds almost ''demented'', absolutely screaming with rage and hate; hammering home just how batshit-out-of-his-mind Samur has become. Definitely ''not'' the theme you would expect for such a calculating being - but ''absolutely'' the theme you'd expect for that same entity having drifted into vengeance-driven madness.

* Taken even further with some of the cosmetic skins. Special mention to the zombie slayer and cultist slayer skins. The former is exactly what it sounds like: the praetor suit is heavily damaged with bits of gore exposed, as well as the helmet being cracked and revealing what's basically a skull underneath! The cultist skin is even worse: just look at this! [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/e9820351-f8fc-4a3b-bdd1-be45e8d32d03]]] And yes, in both instances he's still the good guy!

* While the UAC spokesperson's messages are still played for comedy they can at times be unnerving thanks to the new spokesperson's disturbing sounding voice, not to mention the tone will sometimes which from a stereotypical spokesperson to someone making no pretense about the demons' villainy. Some stand lines include the message ending with "Earth must be cleansed," which is delivered like a straight up OmnicidalManiac with no tone of humor. In another instance the spokesperson starts off her message cheerfully saying "The Doom Marine cannot save you. No one can save you." Her with the first half has the usual cheer, but in the latter half, she gets more serious, making no attempt to hid the grim fate that awaits anybody listening who still hopes humanity will survive Hell's invasion.

Meta examples don't count.

* Among the SceneryPorn of [[UsefulNotes/GameEngine IdTech 7]], there's also the snippets of environmental concept design shown at Quakecon 2018 that go into ''Creator/HRGiger'' territory (without the sexual innuendos), blending FireAndBrimstoneHell, highly-advanced technology, and ominous things like the ritualistic summoning of a dark lord, or an analogue for the TowerOfBabel surrounded by the chained corpses of Titans pouring lava from their eye sockets. Of course, for fans of HeavyMetal album covers, this goes right into SugarWiki/AwesomeArt.
* If the E3 2019 trailer is to be believed, heaven does indeed exist...and they've completely given up hope for humanity. Not that we can blame them, considering that they pretty much did this to themselves, but let's take a moment to look at how heaven sees humans. They don't see any point in offering them "salvation" like they should or even ask them to repent and fix their mistakes. They're willing to just let them die and allow Hell to consume Earth. They don't even understand why the Doom Slayer's even trying to save ''humanity,'' for crying out loud!
** Some recently released concept art also suggests that angels are going to make an appearance. They won't be like the biblical angels, though - instead, they'll be taking on a more [[OurAngelsAreDifferent Gigerian]] appearance.
** Also, later preview material suggests that Heaven hasn't just given up on humanity - [[LightIsNotGood they're actively sanctioning Hell's invasion]].
** The good news is they're not angels after all. The bad news? The Maykrs are still powerful and dangerous. Their leader, the Khan Maykr herself, is probably one of the most intimidating and vile villains in the franchise... which is saying something.
* The E3 story trailer has a deep booming voice state that the Slayer shouldn't be helping humanity, and that we should [[DeadlyEuphemism give penance]] for letting the demons into our world. Who should we give penance to? No less than ''Heaven''. Meaning that it's very possible that either God himself has given up on this realm or GodIsDead and His imperfect servants are all that's left and have abandoned Earth to its fate. Luckily, the Slayer has not.
** From what we hear of the Angel questioning the Doom Slayer it seems even worse. They aren't going to help not because they've abandoned humanity to the demons for their sins or given up on them for allowing the demons in, they never cared in the first place and are actively benefiting from all the suffering the demons are causing. They question what right the Doomslayer has to resist their ''[[ButForMeItWasTuesday traditions]]'' meaning this isn't the first time either.
** At the very end of the trailer, an absolutely ''gigantic'' demon (possibly a Titan like the one mentioned in [[VideoGame/Doom2016 2016]]'s lore entries) can be seen marching across an open street. [[HistoryRepeats Time to repeat history]], [[DavidVsGoliath Slayers]].
*** It's not just a titan, but also something quite familiar... What is it, you ask? ''[[TheBusCameBack It's the Icon of Sin]].'' '''''[[CameBackStrong With a full, humanoid body]].''''' And in the actual game itself, he's also got PoweredArmor!

** Put into horrifying perspective by this [[Website/YouTube YouTube]] comment:
--> The Khan Maykr keeps telling you [[NecessaryEvil all this sacrifice is necessary]]. Sacrificing Earth is necessary. The Maykr are Gods and they need to sustain their existence, no matter the cost. At the back of your head [[VillainHasAPoint you believe the Khan Maykr]]. Maybe the Maykr '''do''' deserve eternal life, maybe in the grand scheme of things, [[InsignificantLittleBluePlanet Earth is but a tiny rock]], [[InYourNatureToDestroyYourselves doomed to kill itself off]]. Maybe all those human souls will [[TheNeedsOfTheMany aid a greater, cosmic plan]]. Maybe the survival of Urdak is worth it. It '''must''' be, right? Because it's literally heaven. [[TemptingFate It must be more beautiful than anything else]].\\\
[[WhamEpisode You enter Urdak]]. It wasn't worth it. It never was. [[CosmicHorrorStory Heaven's been dead for a long time, and the Angels themselves are guilty]].

* After the Khan Maykr dies her central chest orb pulls a {{Manga/Dragonball}} and flies into the air before exploding. This causes ''something'' to let out a sky-darkening and ground-shaking BigNo, which makes Hayden decide the wisest approach is to leave. * The teaser trailer for the new expansion, '''The Ancient Gods''', reveals that ultimately, despite the Doom Slayer's best intentions and his success at defeating the invasion on Earth, [[FromBadToWorse it came at a terrible cost]]: Hell, now completely unchecked with the destruction of Urdak, now threaten the very balance of existence itself all because of the [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Doom Slayer's actions]] and there's no telling the horrors he unintentionally unleashed in his rage other than it necessitated presumably VEGA, now the Father and supposedly ''THE'' TopGod of the Doom universe, to force him into aiding him in restoring the balance he upset.
