Removing for misuse. Nightmare Fuel is for scenes that are scary in the moment, not Fridge Horror.

** The scene involving his [[JumpScare sudden]] [[MookHorrorShow attack]] of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents scrambling to give Captain America air support, tearing through them like they're sandpaper. He even ''shoots an agent in the neck with an '''assault rifle'''''. Given that this is a PG-13 rated movie, we thankfully don't see [[BloodlessCarnage actual blood]]. However, the sound he makes is downright unsettling.
* Crossing over with TearJerker, Pierce's maid Renata is shot dead by him ''just because she left her phone behind''.

Confirmed by the composer that it was his own scream, not Bucky's.

** Music-wise, the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVJGh51wR7k Winter Soldier's Theme]], especially its first half, is just plain unsettling. It starts with something that sounds like a distorted woman repetitively screaming in an empty hall, which as it turns out is actually a completely warped version of [[spoiler:Bucky's scream as he falls off the train during ''First Avenger'']]. It then goes through grinding mechanical noises and then something like engines powering up and a variety of industrial sounds amongst its ambient background. Overall, it comes off incredibly ''creepy'', and is not a thing to listen to if you're alone in the dark.

* The Winter Soldier's first appearance. Fury's just escaped several truckloads of assassins [[ImpersonatinganOfficer disguised as police]], he's driving away and planning his next move...and then the camera shifts focus to reveal a man standing in the middle of the road as this unearthly wailing starts up. He doesn't speak, doesn't react to the screaming crowds, just blows up Fury's car and starts calmly walking toward him. Fury only manages to escape by ''carving through the ground''.

** A lot of his character elements and treatment are horrifyingly graphic. The flashbacks of his transformation include a scene of his bloody arm stump [[MedicalHorror being amputated]] from his point of view...most likely done without anesthesia. And then there's the scene of him having his memories of Captain America wiped via electroshock therapy, which shows him screaming in agony as the machine closes over his face, with the strong implication that this happens frequently for him. When he is awake and conscious in the treatment room, he mostly just sits there dazed, barely reacts to anything around him and meekly takes orders, making it come across like HYDRA is using a mentally handicapped man for their own ends.

* The concept of Project Insight takes real-life modern-day paranoia about government intelligence gathering and use of personal data by social media giants and turns it up to eleven. Put simply, HYDRA, having infiltrated SHIELD, plan to use an algorithm created by Armin Zola to collect and collate every piece of personal information they can about everyone on the planet, then use that information to predict who could be a future threat to them and eliminate them all at once using three upgraded helicarriers. That's right, HYDRA weren't just planning to take out their enemies, they were planning to massacre anyone who could ever ''possibly'' pose a threat to them. As seen on the targeting screen (before Cap switches the carriers to [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard target each other]]) this amounts to thousands of people in Washington DC ''alone.''
