* BlackSheepHit: Despite being a synthpop / rock duo who mostly make melancholic or dark music, Hurts’ biggest overseas hit is none other than “Under Control”, an EDM track produced by the Scottish and Swedish music producers Music/CalvinHarris and Alesso that they contributed vocals for.

* OneWordTitle: The band's name and all their albums are one word long.
* PopCultureIsolation: The group were a moderate success in their native Britain and throughout Europe, but good luck finding anyone in the U.S who knows a single one of their songs. And no, [[Music/CalvinHarris Under Control]] does not count.

Exile, by contrast, had many dark songs about sex and death, which ranged from haunting ballads such as The Crow and The Rope, to loud and scary songs such as The Road and Cupid.

* GenreRoulette: Although the band is described as a synthpop group, many of their songs also lean towards new wave and soft rock influences. Some songs off Exile such as The Road, Cupid or Mercy edge quite close to industrial metal/rock territory.
