* AlternateSelf: In all of Sakine Meiko's ''Project Diva'' appearances except ''Project DIVA- f'', she is treated as a separate character module for MEIKO rather than an alternate outfit/version for her. ''Project DIVA Megamix'' also treats her as an "extra" character alongside Akita Neru, Teto Kasane, and Haku Yowane. Some fans have interpreted her as being MEIKO's younger sibling, rather than a younger version of MEIKO herself, as she's intended to be.

A rather disturbing original character created by Deino, first starring in his [=PV=] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRd7gOfIS-0 Machine Muzik]]. She is sometimes also [[http://deino3330.deviantart.com/art/Machine-Muzik-178296598 incorrectly]] called Karune Ca. Calcium is a mechanized skeleton with a cybernetic red left eye, finger-like appendages in place of a lower jaw, a clawed mechanical right arm, a skeletal left arm, and twisted, mechanical legs. She runs on batteries and requires a robotic companion to occasionally replace them (humorously and disturbingly at once, her batteries are located under her skirt). Calcium is usually seen wearing an outer shell and outfit resembling Miku Hatsune's, and goes by the alias Calne Ca while doing so.

She is closely associated with insects and other crawling critters, such as wharf roaches and cockroaches. The [[EldritchLocation world of Calne Ca]] is full of grotesque and deathly imagery.

Calcium also appears in a [=PV=] for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flAGH_f7ZOQ DJ Technorch's Ataraxia]], but with red eyes and more normal-looking robotic limbs as opposed to Calne's wierd appendages. She was recognized by Crypton as a derivative of Miku, and has been featured in some of their events.

* HumanoidAbomination: Her biological insect-like form, for a given definition of "humanoid". Calcium fits the trope even better; she only ''looks'' human, but you can tell that there's something...''off'' about her...

A fanloid that was introduced in 2009, based on the Virtual Singer Megurine Luka. She was created by Sangatsu Youka because Luka's hair reminded him of an octopus. Crypton eventually acknowledged her as a derivative of Luka and included her in various official media, such as several games in the ''VideoGame/HatsuneMikuProjectDiva'' series.

Originally released as a Music/{{Vocaloid}} program in Crypton Future Media's "Character Vocal" series of singing synthesizers, Hatsune Miku[[note]]Eastern order; "Hatsune" being the surname[[/note]] set a lot of milestones for the software: not only was she the first Japanese vocal for the [=VOCALOID2=] engine, she also was the first to have a real avatar (Most of the English banks of the day used stock photos, Kaito and Meiko's initial character designs were more decorative, and while Sweet Ann did have a themed avatar, it wasn't fully incorporated into the voice bank), the first to be marketed as a "character"'s voice rather than a replication, and the first to have any kind of story attached to her. Her bio stated she was an android that came from a future with no music, and she wanted to spread her love of song to the world to keep that future from happening.

* CanonDiscontinuity: Her official backstory of being an Android who has come to spread her love of music in order to prevent a BadFuture is not acknowledged at all by Crypton Future Media today. Justified given that she is supposed to be a BlankSlate.

* TheChosenOne: Pretty much this in ''Project DIVA X''. It's up to her and the player to restore the world of music. Everyone else? Nah.

* LipstickLesbian: Miku is typically depicted as being this in lesbian love songs, retaining her feminine qualities and appearances, while also being interested in woman.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The design for Miku in "Crybaby Boyfriend", the first entry in the "Love & Hate" series by [=HoneyWorks=], features Miku with realistically short twin tails, dark brown hair, and matching brown eyes. When she reappeared in the series' final song "The Beginning's Goodbye", she's kept with the same basic design but with turquoise hair and eyes to match the Vocaloid's appearance more closely.
