[[folder:Calne Ca/Calcium]]
!! Calne Ca/Calcium
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/calne_3162.jpg]]
A rather disturbing original character created by Deino, first starring in his [=PV=] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRd7gOfIS-0 Machine Muzik]]. She is sometimes also [[http://deino3330.deviantart.com/art/Machine-Muzik-178296598 incorrectly]] called Karune Ca. Calcium is a mechanized skeleton with a cybernetic red left eye, finger-like appendages in place of a lower jaw, a clawed mechanical right arm, a skeletal left arm, and twisted, mechanical legs. She runs on batteries and requires a robotic companion to occasionally replace them (humorously and disturbingly at once, her batteries are located under her skirt). Calcium is usually seen wearing an outer shell and outfit resembling Miku Hatsune's, and goes by the alias Calne Ca while doing so.

She is closely associated with insects and other crawling critters, such as wharf roaches and cockroaches. The [[EldritchLocation world of Calne Ca]] is full of grotesque and deathly imagery.

Calcium also appears in a [=PV=] for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flAGH_f7ZOQ DJ Technorch's Ataraxia]], but with red eyes and more normal-looking robotic limbs as opposed to Calne's wierd appendages. She was recognized by Crypton as a derivative of Miku, and has been featured in some of their events.

Calne Ca also stars in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tktcOUi-x-A Bacterial Contamination]] with an [[BigCreepyCrawlies all new look!]]

-----
* AfterTheEnd: If Zeromachina is anything to go by, then her home is the Earth after some cataclysm that wiped out the majority of mankind.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: in the ''Bacterial Contamination'' PV, the nightmarish Vocaloids trade their mechanical appendages for organic spiny insectile limbs. In the ''Machine Muzik'' PV, she's accompanied by a large scorpion-like creature.
* BodyHorror: Her legs, mouth, one eye, and an arm are grotesque cybernetic prostheses, and her other arm is disproportionately long, three-fingered, and skeletal. Her "human" form in ''Bacterial Contamination'' has her looking less scary, but she still has sores on her face and her inflamed, red eye.
* BrokenBird: ''Bacterial Contamination'' has Calne Ca serve as a metaphorical representation of how a victim of bullying sees herself.
* DarkIsNotEvil: According to WordOfGod.
* DemBones: The base form of Calne Ca is a mechanized skeleton. The stuff that makes her look even remotely human is additions.
** Associated with her is a skull with a cybernetic eye walking on 4 mechanical legs.
* EldritchLocation: Fittingly enough, she lives in one. The setting for ''Bacterial Contamination'' counts too.
* EyeScream: Moreso in ''Bacterial Contamination'', her right eye isn't an endoskeleton robotic eye like it is in her mechanized form, but instead resembles an insect's eye.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: In ''Bacterial Contamination''. She fights against her bullies so hard, that eventually she becomes one. Her reaction upon realizing this [[FreakOut Isn't]] [[DrivenToSuicide pretty]].
* HumanoidAbomination: Her biological insect-like form, for a given definition of "humanoid". Calcium fits the trope even better; she only ''looks'' human, but you can tell that there's something...''off'' about her...
* KillerRobot: Even though Deino has insisted that "she is not a brutal character", she definitely has that vibe going.
* LosingYourHead: has been seen at least once with her head detached and walking on the floor on its finger-appendages.
* MsFanservice: Her creator makes artworks featuring her in which she has some gloriously fanservicey outfits such as [[http://deino3330.deviantart.com/art/Rb-and-Ca-345266324 this]] and [[http://deino3330.deviantart.com/art/X-mas-344516872 this]] among others ( yes this is calne ca in case you have doubts, she simply is human form in these artworks ). And if you turn off the mature filter you can find more.
* NaturalWeapon: Insect Calne Ca's hand-blades mirrors the blades of her robot form.
* NavelDeepNeckline: When "dressed" as Miku she leaves the vest undone to her navel, when she's wearing anything at all.
* OurClonesAreIdentical: Those weird faceless mannequins, be they clones or androids.
* VocalDissonance: In the previews for Zeromachina she is voiced by.... Creator/YuiHorie. Definitely not the kind of voice one would expect from such a fearsome-looking robot.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: In ''Bacterial Contamination'', where she's a severe victim of bullying.
* TheWormThatWalks: Not quite, but she is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6M2ppKwuZY occasionally]] seen pretty much swarming with creepy crawlies.

A fanloid that was introduced in 2009, based on the Virtual Singer Megurine Luka. She was created by Sangatsu Youka because Luka's hair reminded him of an octopus. Crypton eventually acknowledged her as a derivative of Luka and included her in various official media, such as several games in the ''VideoGame/HatsuneMikuProjectDiva'' series.

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yukine.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:Yukine]]
Originally based on a snow-white sculpture of Miku that was created for Sapporo's 2010 Snow Festival, she has become a recurring mascot for Hokkaido's yearly festivals ever since. She is a unique derivative of Miku in that she receives yearly design updates based on an annual contest held by Piapro and Good Smile, with the winning design for that year receiving an associated theme song, figurines, and Nendoroids. As her name suggests, all of these designs have a wintry theme and no two winning designs are the same.
-----
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Snow Miku's personality varies depending on the producer of her yearly theme song. For example, Snow Miku 2022's personality is an adventurous, GenkiGirl as seen in Colorful Marine Snow.
* InterpretativeCharacter: She's still Hatsune Miku, but with a wintry design that updates annually. No two designs are the same, with the most the designs have in common being twin tails and a wintry motif.
* NonHumanSidekick: Rabbit Yukine serves as this to Miku, and his clothing updates every year to match hers.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sakukamiku2_6.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Base Sakura Miku Design]]

A pink palette swap of Hatsune Miku with a cherry blossom motif. She was created to represent the beginning of springtime in response to the recurring Snow Miku character. However, she differs from Snow Miku in that she does not receive yearly design updates, and thus far there have only been two official variations of her design.
-----
* CherryBlossomGirl: Her whole motif, as she's based on the arrival of springtime.
* {{Expy}}: While she's not a fan derivative, her creation was inspired by various fan arts of the response character before Good Smile and Crypton decided to make her official with their own design for her.
* FlatCharacter: Unlike Snow Miku whose characterization varies on a year-to-year basis depending on how the artists and her associated songs portray her, Sakura Miku doesn't receive this treatment and not much is known about her.
* RoseHairedSweetie: The only version of Miku consistently portrayed with pink hair.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mikudayo]]
!!Mikudayo
An creepy chibi version of Hatsune Miku based on a memetically creepy Nendoroid costume of her from the Tokyo Game Show 2011 presentation of SEGA's 3DS title ''Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project mirai''. As of 2021, three new derivatives have been created based off of her: [=KAITOdayo=], [=MEIKOdayo=] and Lukadayo.
----
* AscendedMeme: In addition to being adopted as an official Derivative by Crypton after she gained sufficient exposure, {{Creator/SEGA}} themselves (responsible for creating this abomination) introduced their own "-dayo" variations to accompany the original, in [="MEIKOdayo"=], [="KAITOdayo"=], and [="Lukadayo"=] flavors.
** ''VideoGame/ProjectSekai'' has also added her to their game as a mascot costume primarily worn by Miku. A KAITO version is said to exist within the game's universe as well. Additionally, Nene-robo is a singing robot that is modeled after a "-dayo" version of the original character Nene Kusanagi.
* AxCrazy: Often depicted as this in pictures.
* ButtMonkey: In the "Together with Mikudayo!" promo videos for ''Project mirai 2''. She gets ''absolutely trampled'' for the sake of comedy.
* TheCameo: ''Project DIVA F'' and ''Arcade'' featured a Head Accessory of her, and ''Project mirai'' had an unlockable face swap of Miku that made her look like Mikudayo. ''F 2nd'' went a step further and included a whole ''outfit''. In every game she appears in, she's either DownloadableContent or [[LastLousyPoint the hardest item to acquire in the game.]]
* CreepyMonotone: When she does speak, she mainly says "[[PokemonSpeak Miku da yo]]" in a very droning version of Miku's regular voice bank, but with little no inflection. This makes her come off as ''very'' unnerving.
* LastLousyPoint: When she isn't DLC, she's this.
* MeaningfulName: Her name is based on the phrase "Miku da yo", meaning "I am Miku!". The phrase is meant to be ironic concerning how much she [[YouDontLookLikeYou doesn't look like Miku at all]], but it's also used in fanart to signify her wanting to KillAndReplace the actual Miku.
* PerpetualSmiler: She's this as a result of her costume.
* SuperDeformed: She's supposed to be this.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Otoro sushi, or specifically, giant otoro sushi, since regular sushi is too small for her.

[[folder: Other Crypton Derivatives]]
Official derivatives of the rest of the Crypton group.
----
* ColorMotif: Unlike Sakura Miku, who is a pink palette swap of Hatsune Miku with cherry blossom motifs, [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sakuramiku_shinjuku.jpg the other Cryptons received unique Sakura-themed outfits in their associated colors]] as a part of ARMA BIANCA's 2021 spring collection.
* {{Expy}}: In 2021, KAITO, MEIKO, and Luka received their own "-dayo" forms based on Mikudayo.
* OutOfFocus: While the Crypton group will sometimes get Snow designs to go alongside Miku's for sub-visuals, they don't appear in the event songs or get much promotion. The closest they've gotten to anything significant being done with these designs was their Snow Miku 2022 designs becoming limited costumes for them in ''VideoGame/ProjectSEKAI''.

!Ascended Fan Derivatives

These are fanmade "derivatives" of existing Vocaloids, who have gained [[AscendedMeme official recognition as memes]] from Crypton themselves; two of them, Neru and Haku, made cameos in the spinoff manga and games.

[[folder:Yowane Haku]]
!!Yowane Haku
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Much_Smaller_02_1853.JPG]]
Haku is a depressed counterpart of Miku, created by those who cannot use Miku properly. She is usually off-key when she sings (although sometimes she produces nice songs), and envies Miku's voice, to the point where she drinks. [[HardDrinkingPartyGirl A lot]].

-----
* AscendedFanon: Sort of, her creator CAFFEIN ships her with Miku Hatsune, and when mothy, one of the most influential Vocaloid producers of all decided to include a character based on Haku, he paired her together with a character based on Miku.
* BareYourMidriff
* TheCameo: A special MythologyGag for ''Music/EvilliousChronicles'' fans; Haku appears briefly in the ''Project mirai'' rendition of "Servant of Evil", referencing the song "Daughter of White".
* DrowningMySorrows: Because she thinks she'll never be as good as Miku.
* HiddenDepths: Despite her concept as not being as good a singer as Miku, she's often portrayed as being good at other things, such as playing musical instruments (especially the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXSisiGKsso guitar]]).
* JigglePhysics: Her model in Miku Miku Dance is the first officially released one that does this.
* MsFanservice
* MeaningfulName: Her name means "weak willed words".
* TaremeEyes
* TechnicolorEyes: Red eyes.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Sake, just like Meiko up there.
* TheVoiceless: In Project DIVA, being a fan-created Vocaloid, Haku had no voice. Averted in Project DIVA 2nd, where (like everyone else), she has her own celebration dialogue when completing a song.
** Haku's voice in Project DIVA 2nd seems to be a deeper, more reserved-sounding Miku.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Akita Neru]]
!!Akita Neru
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Much_Smaller_03_2718.JPG]]
Neru is another counterpart of Miku, made by people who make Miku's pitch too high. It is said she represents those who are too lazy and impatient to use Vocaloid correctly and give up half way through, which is indicated by Neru's {{Tsundere}} nature. Her origin can also be explained as a personification of {{Troll}}ing.

Her voice is usually an edit of Miku's, but can also come from Rin's, depending on the editor.

-----
* TheCameo: Appears as a ghostly silhouette at the end of ''Blessed Messiah and the Tower of Ai'' (implied to be the previous "messiah").
* CompanionCube: Her cell phone.
* {{Expy}}: She's visually a fusion of the most popular Crypton Vocaloids of the day, splicing together elements of Miku (long hair, clothes) and Rin/Len (yellow color scheme, single ponytail, midriff, keyboard sleeve, and shorts).
* LazyBum: Her origin and name lampshade this.
* MeaningfulName: Her name itself is a reference to trolling; "akita, neru" equates to "(Fuck this,) I'm tired, I'm going to bed."
** While it's likely accidental, Neru also shares her last name with the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akita_Inu Akita Inu]], a dog breed with a reputation of [[{{Tsundere}} being loyal towards humans, yet aggressive toward other animals]].
* PhoneaholicTeenager: Often depicted as one due to her cell phone.
* TheVoiceless: Like Haku, had no voice in Project DIVA (Due to being an unofficial cameo). Also like Haku, averted in Project DIVA 2nd in the same fashion. [[{{Tsundere}} All of her celebratory quotes sound displeased, no matter how well the player performs]].
** Neru's dialogue in Project DIVA 2nd seems to be a deeper, more womanly-sounding Rin.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: With Haku in ''Dark Woods Circus'', in which she's the "girly girl" (she's seen wearing a long green dress). In fanon, however, it's usually the other way around.
* {{Troll}}: Created out of a trolling incident, as can be read on that trope's page.
* {{Tsundere}}
* TsurimeEyes: To contrast with Haku.

A fanloid of Hatsune Miku released in 2010, [[AmbiguousGender she(?)]] was conceptualized as Miku's twin tails being a pair of functioning legs. Since her release, she has been officially acknowledged by Crypton Future Media and has appeared in several games in the ''VideoGame/HatsuneMikuProjectDiva'' series as a background character, skin, and accessory for the Virtual Singers.
----
* AmbiguousGender: It's unclear what gender it is supposed to be, but many simply assume that it's female because it was based on Hatsune Miku.
* BlankSlate: Its creators never gave it an official personality, but many headcanon that it's creepy as it looks, especially when interacting with the Virtual Singers and other fan derivatives.
* BodyHorror: It's a head with hair for legs and nothing else.
* TheCameo: While never appearing in the game proper, "she" cameos in [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1658184596837720.jpg two]] [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1658181708195921.jpg separate]] promotional images for the video game ''VideoGame/ProjectSEKAI'' prior to its release.

----
* BodyHorror: It's Luka's super-deformed head with octopus-like tentacles for hair and nothing else.
* MeaningfulName: It's an octopus-like creature that looks like Megurine Luka, hence why it's called "Tako Luka".

A super deformed mascot of Kagamine Rin, it was conceptualized as Rin's head on a pair of skinny legs and became popular because of how disturbing it is to look at. Crypton eventually began to acknowledge it, and officially included it in several pieces of official media, as well as sold the character as merchandise.

Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru isn't a demo of hers, it's just an early popular song.

Her popularity skyrocketed when her demo song "Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru" and Otomania and Tamago's "Ievan Polkka" video released to Website/NicoNicoDouga, and she retains a prominent presence there to this day: the synthesized voice that sings the site's jingle is her, and she and her content creators still make and distribute videos for the platform. Her popularity brought Vocaloid as a software into the greater public conscious, especially after the videos started coming westward through the likes of Website/{{YouTube}}.

Originally released as a Music/{{Vocaloid}} program in Crypton Future Media's "Character Vocal" series of singing synthesizers, Hatsune Miku[[note]]Eastern order; "Hatsune" being the surname[[/note]] set a lot of milestones for the software: not only was she the first Japanese vocal for the [=VOCALOID2=] engine, she also was the first to have a real avatar (Most of the English banks of the day used stock photos, Kaito and Meiko's initial character designs were more decorative, and while Sweet Ann did have a themed avatar, it wasn't fully incorporated into the voice bank), the first to be marketed as a "character"'s voice rather than a replication, and the first to have any kind of story attached to her. Her bio stated she was an android that came from a future with no music, and she wanted to spread her love of song to the world to keep that future from happening.

* IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Several instances:
** "The Beginnings Goodbye", the final entry to the Love & Hate series from [=HoneyWorks=], seems to set up a love triangle between Miku, Len, and Rin after Miku reenters the picture with the intention of rekindling things with Len. However, Len is already a year into his relationship with Rin and had long since moved on from his prior relationship with Miku. Miku is initially upset about it, acting coldly toward him throughout the song and serving as an obstacle to their relationship, but after befriending Rin and realizing that she has helped Len become a stronger person, she accepts defeat and learns that it's time for her to move on as well.
** It also happens in "ACUTE" by Kurousa-P. After attempting a MurderSuicide with KAITO and ending up in the hospital, Miku gives up on her plan to take KAITO from Luka when Luka chooses to forgive her despite what she'd done. The story ends with Miku apologizing and wishing the pair happiness together.
