* EarlyOinstallmentWeirdness: How about 11 winners of the same film festival.
* HomeFieldAdvantage: Zigzagged. France currently has the second biggest amount of awards - 13 against 22 for the USA.
** However France might be indeed the second greatest country considering the cinema.
** Also The French directors did not receive a sole Palme d'Or between 1987 and 2008.
** However since 2008 they were awarded two more times, both in the recent, as of 2017, years. Also in one of those cases [[spoiler: not the case of Film/BlueIsTheWarmestColour]] many implied that it was exactly this trope.
* RuleOfTwo: Directors are allowed to win 2 Palmes d'Or but not hree of them.

The Palme d'Or (English: Golden Palm) is the main award of the Cannes film festival, the most prestigious event in the world of the cinema. Palme d'or was introduced in 1954, until then the best film received a Grand-Prix. It was all reversed in 1964 when the main prize became Grand-Prix again which it lasted until (and including 1974). Since 1975 and until now the award is called Palme d'or again.

The Palme d'Or can be handed out to one film or two of them (ex aequo). It happened on seven occasions the last of which was in 1997. That is not to mention a 1946 Cannes film festival when eleven Grand-Prix were handed out. That is also not to mention that in 2013 the award was divided between three persons but for the same film.

While no-one received two Palmes d'Or several directors earned two, including Creator/FrancisFordCoppola, Creator/EmirKusturica, Creator/KenLoach, Creator/MichaelHaneke, Creator/TheDardennes.
