A more striking example than Black☆Star in the sense that until the Asura arc there was far less indication that he was hiding such ruthless badassery behind daft antics and a funny mask. And then we find out he tore some guy's skin off, made it into a bag, and LOCKED THE STILL LIVING BODY IN THE BAG to protect the world from being consumed by madness. And is quite willing and capable to do so again if need be, regardless of his current persona. So, yeah.

* ChurchMilitant: Justin Law is a very devout Christian, but also the Death Scythe in charge of Europe. Interestingly he views Shinigami-sama as God. Nobody corrects him. This would make Death the Kid... Jesus. Lord help us all, pun intended.

*** However, given that the majority of that comes from [[spoiler:a definite EldritchAbomination Kid ran into in Eibon's book, who was {{Mind Rape}}ing Kid to make him somewhere between BrainwashedAndCrazy and MoreThanMindControl]], it seems wise to consider only the part with independent confirmation ([[spoiler:that Shinigami-sama's proper name is Death]]) to be reliable...and there's a few logical problems with that ''last'' part. [[spoiler:Shinigami-sama's demise would have freed Asura, since his soul was part of what had been sealing the Kishin in--and unless he is one '''hell''' of an actor, he wasn't planning for that to become a nonissue.]]
