* BewareTheNiceOnes: Medusa is actually quite kind and timid for a devil. But even she can get annoyed with Jashin-''chan'' 's attitude. At one point turning a prank Jashin-''chan'' tried to play on her around on her.

* LighterAndSofter: The second season of the anime toned down both Jashin-''chan'''s jerkassery and Yurine's cruel punishments (for the most part).

* OurAngelsAreDifferent: Angels are only as powerful as long as they have their halo. If they don't, they're pretty much BroughtDownToNormal, and considering how surprisingly fragile they are, this happens pretty frequently. Poor Pekora dropped and lost hers when she came to Earth (someone mistaking it for a light bulb and threw it in the trash). Poporon loses hers when Jashin-''chan'' eats it and Pino's ends up destroyed when Poporon German-suplexes her to save Pekora.

* SnakePeople: The titualr Jashin-''chan'' is one, being a lamia and all.

The manga follows a college student named Yurine who ends up summoning a lamia devil named Jashin-chan while dabbling in dark arts. Jashin takes offense that a lowly human would dare summon her and tries to kill her. Keyword: "Tries", as Yurine turns out to be extremely formidable and quite proficient in weaponry. And since she summoned Jashin, Jashin can't go back home until Yurine either sends her back (which she doesn't know how to do) or is killed. So begins a rather odd relationship of sorts with Jashin trying every opportunity to off Yurine while some other devils soon get into the mix as well.

** One chapter had Jashin dream Yurine had brought a spear and, after the usual shenanigans, ends with her about to be impaled. Jashin wakes up and finds it was all a dream...and then Yurine returns home with a spear.
** After the credits of episode 9 of the anime, Jashin has another dream that she, Medusa, and Minos were all victims of a Main/ZombieApocalypse.
* AllThereInTheManual: The anime jumps straight into the series with Medusa, Pekora and Minos (the latter who comes ''much'' later in the series) already familar with Yurine and Jashin's antics and Bate already being Yurine's pet. Basically assuming you know most of these characters already from the manga. Though oddly Kori and Yusa's introduction still happen as in the manga.

* BerserkButton: GivingSomeoneThePointerFinger in Yurine's way, some of Jashin punishment were inflicted from doing this. At one point she actually remembered ''not'' to do it when arguing with Yurine...and ''still'' got punished ''because'' she was about to do it (well that, and losing their pet demon dog and trying to lie about it).
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Meduesa is actually quite kind and timid for a devil. But even she can get annoyed with Jashin's attitude. At one point turning a prank Jashin tried to play on her around on her.
* BigSisterInstinct: Yusa to Kori. Her introduction in the manga had her coming over to Yurine's place to confront Jashin about her mistreatment when she invited Kori over the first time. It ends about as well as you expect: Jashin getting frozen... again.

* BloodyHilarious: The punishments Yurine inflicts on Jashin usually involve lots of Jashin's blood being spilled and/or her being mutilated. Don't worry, as since Jashin's a devil, she can regenerate over time.
* BrickJoke: Chapter 115 has Jashin gifting Medusa a ninja costume. Come Chapter 140 and Medusa is actually using said costume and even gets a "mission" from Jashin. And Chapter 183 has Jashin getting the same thing as birthday gift.
* CallingYourAttacks: One instance of Jashin's surprise dropkick failing is because she announced it aloud for Yurine to hear. Jashin proceeds to blame the Sound Engineer as it was supposed to be an internal monologue.
* CelebrityParadox: In episode 5, Jashin and Yurine leave a bookstore and notice a poster with Yurine on it advertising the Dropkick on my Devil anime.
* CouchGag: In one cold opening of season 2, Jashin gets mocked by Yurine who calls her a "Smart Alek Devil" and think they should change the title of it. Sure enough, after the opening plays, the title is indeed changed to "Smart Alek Devil".
* CreepyMonotone: Yurine tends to speak like this, even in Jashin's ImagineSpot of her screams of death being flat tones.

* {{Determinator}}: Despite Yurine besting her constantly, Jashin doesn't give up easily and keeps trying to find ways to off her.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: A lot of Jashin's attacks on Yurine failing is due to the fact she doesn't take into account certain things.
** For example she attempted to invite Medusa over so she could turn Yurine to stone. However before, she had asked Yurine if it was alright to invite a friend over. Yurine allowed it and then asked who said friend was. As you can imagine when Yurine heard the name "Medusa", it didn't take much to thwart Jashin's plan.
** Another, Jashin had saw a news report about the mountains and thought up a plan to get Yurine to go hiking in which she would try to kill her by pushing her off a cliff or having bears maul her to death. Just one hitch in her plan, Yurine turned down the offer to go.
** One of the more simple ones has Jashin have Medusa bring over a crowbar so she can sneak up on Yurine and bash her head in with it. Only when she went to execute it, she YELLED REAL LOUDLY as she was going in for the strike. Yurine countered her easily as a result.
* DirtyCop: Mei Tachibana is a police woman who regularly ''steals'' objects she deems cute off the street and brings them back to her home. At one point practically trying to take a display ''right in front of the manager of a store''. She also stalks Jashin and abuses her authority by trying to seduce her, and even tried to kill her [[DisproportionateRetribution for refusing to]] [[IfICantHaveYou go home with her]] (worse, the only thing that stopped her was her shift ending; she did that ''on the clock'' and likely would've gone through with killing Jashin if she had more time).
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: The opening theme is sung by the entire main cast.

* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: All of Jashin's attempts to kill Yurine end in Yurine cutting up Jashin painfully.

* GhostInTheMachine: A rather absurd example in the 2nd season. Among the forms of Jashin that 'live' inside her head are a military general, a warrior with impractical get-up, a scientist, a psychic, 'Super Jashin' (which is just a lazy Jashin who has a giant Jashin carry her around; the lives of the two are connected), Buddha, and a tardigrade whose only able to say "It's cause I'm so tiny....". Oh and regular Jashin is there too.
* GodivaHair: Jashin is almost always topless, but her hair always hangs in the perfect position to keep anything from showing.
* GoToSleepEnding: In season 2 Episode 5, Jashin gives Medusa a ninja costume for her birthday. After the end credits, we see Medusa asleep in her bed dreaming of her and Jashin playing in color coordinated ninja costumes.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: Yurine brutally destroys Jashin OncePerEpisode, but she's all healed up by next time.

* HarmlessFreezing: Subverted. Each time Kori and Yusa freeze Jashin, she breaks into pieces upon falling over. Again though, her regeneration keeps her from dying from it. Though likely takes a bit longer since, y'know, being stuck in ice and having to wait for it to melt.

* ImTakingHerHomeWithMe: [[{{cloudcuckoolander}} Mei Tachibana]] does this to any object she finds to be cute, and then she lays eyes on Jashin who she's determined to bring home with her.
* IronButtMonkey: Jashin gets dismembered and broken OncePerEpisode but being a devil she can [[GoodThingYouCanHeal heal the damage]]. Though doesn't make it any less painful.
* IronMaiden: Yurine puts Jashin in one [[Main/DisproportionateRetribution as punishment for eating her pudding.]]
* LighterAndSofter: The second season of the anime toned down both Jashin's jerkassery and Yurine's cruel punishments (for the most part).
* NatureTinkling: During the second BeachEpisode, Jashin is implied to do this in the ocean. She’s shown with a distressed expression on her face, which turns into a relieved one as she lets out a sigh. Needless to say, those around her at the time are horrified at what she apparently did.
* NoFourthWall: Characters are all aware they are in a work of fiction. In fact one time Jashin uses a censor screen to hide the fact she's actually fully healed.
* OriginsEpisode: The first episode of season two shows how Yurine summoned Jashin to Earth and what lead to Jashin getting stuck there. Turns out the spell book was part of a volume set and the the spell Yurine needed to send Jashin back to Hell was in the next volume which she didn't have.

* ParanormalGamblingAdvantage: Jashin-chan is able roll whatever number she wants on a die. Upon seeing it her summoner/roommate Yurine thinks to herself that such a power could make a lot of money, but Jashin-chan herself is too dumb to realize it, despite frequently gambling all her money away on pachinko machines.
* PieInTheFace: In the second season, when Jashin encounters the people who have been [[ItMakesSenseInContext trolling her on Twitter]], she ends up doing this to them. Creating better and better pies to throw and for people to taste actually ends up overshadowing her original goal in this whole ordeal.

* PuttingThePeeInPool: In the Chitose-hen special, Jashin-chan accidentally relieves herself in a hot spring, and then manages to enjoy such a thing. Naturally, this ends up with her getting punished by Yurine.
* RoadRunnerVsCoyote: Most of this series in a nutshell when it's not being SliceOfLife with Yurine being the former and Jashin being the latter.

** In [[CreditsGag the opening]], Jashin gets the idea to do a band scene from being hit in the face by a Miku flyer.
** In Episode 1, Jashin steals her leek and gives her a 100 yen coin in return, for her to celebrate since she only paid 90.
** In Episode 2, after Jashin is [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe sliced in half]], Miku is seen poking her disembodied tail with the leek.

** In Episode 4, Miku appears as one of Jashin's classmates during a flashback to demon school.

* SmugSnake: Quite literally. Jashin thinks she on top of everything and a fearsome devil. But at best she's nothing more then a brat and Yurine can deal with her easily.

This time Jashin did not had a plan to trap her bare feet and Yurine's floors, plus her shoes and socks are ruined, so she cuts Jashin in half.

* ToiletHumor: When Kori is invited over the first time, Jashin reveals she can make sno-cones that come in two flavors: strawberry and lemon. The strawberry syrup comes from her blood while the lemon...well, there's a reason they call it "yellow snow". Once Yurine is told of this, she ''instantly'' asks for strawberry. Usually whenever someone does ask for lemon, the scene cuts away for a bit before going back and we see Kori or Yusa straightening their kimonos.
* TooDumbToLive: Jashin ''really'' doesn't know when to back off when confronting people stronger then her. More often then not suffering punishments for it. She also constantly talks about her plans to kill Yurine, who is often within earshot of said plans, something she lampshades in ''the very first episode of the show.''
* TortureTechnician: Yurine is a master of torture and subject Jashin to many if she gets out of line.
