''B Gata H Kei'' received an anime adaptation in the spring of 2010 by Hal Film Maker. Creator/FUNimation has licensed the anime under the name ''B Gata H Kei: Yamada's First Time'', that roughly adapts the first 50% to 60% of the original story.

B Gata H Kei (B型H系 Bī Gata Etchi Kei) is an {{ecchi}} RomanticComedy [[{{Yonkoma}} four-panel manga series]] by Yoko Sanri. It was published by Shueisha and ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2004-2011 and later adapted to an anime.

Based on the {{Yonkoma}} manga by Yoko Sanri, ''B Gata H Kei'' received an anime adaptation in the spring of 2010 by Hal Film Maker. Meet Yamada ([[NoNameGiven no first name available]]), a self-described [[TitleDrop B-cupped slut]]. [[note]] The title roughly means 'B-type, H-style', [[{{Ecchi}} H]] being the Japanese code-letter for sex.[[/note]] She's entering her first year of high school, and decides on a goal for herself: to have 100 casual sex partners. Considering that she's a virgin and rather clueless about dealing with the opposite sex, how she's actually going to do that is a mystery. On her first day, she runs into Takashi Kosuda, an average student in her class who is also a virgin. She decides to make him her first conquest and clumsily pursues him, thus beginning an [[HilarityEnsues awkward storm of romantic hijinks]].

Along the way, Yamada and her friends are assisted by their ''eros deities'', manifestations of their sexual desires and perverse consciences that also serve as narrators, being the only characters who are allowed to talk to the viewer. All of the ''eros deities'' resemble their associated characters - with some odd additions (for example, Yamada's has a white mustache, wears a pink kimono and carries a wooden staff. Mayu's resembles a chibi MagicalGirl version of her, etc.)

** Downplayed in the anime, though not completely excised as seen in the [[VaporWear nopan]] episode when Takeshita catches Yamada in the act during class [[CrowningMomentOfFunny and nearly has a heart attack]]. This was one of few scenes toned down in the English dub, in which the internal narration suggests that Yamada just really needed to go to the bathroom and was trying to hold it in.

** When it comes to teenagers, everybody's still figuring out their sexuality, and sometimes even the ones you'd think are popular and experienced really have no idea what they're doing either. Most members of the opposite gender feel just as awkward about their sexuality (and have just as much sexual desire) as you do, so talking about it honestly and openly might be the best way to resolves those problematic situations.
** [[spoiler: It's easy to have an [[IdealizedSex idealized view of sex]] if you've never had it before, but there are all sorts of problems that can occur for the inexperienced. Even once you get the hang of it, you'll realize it's not practical or necessary to be having sex with your partner 24/7, every once in a while is fine too.]]
** Lots of young folks who haven't had sex yet think it would be great to be TheCasanova and sleep around with a lot of different people, but most of us can't do that, and it's not even all it's cracked up to be. You might realize that being in love and having a committed relationship with one person is more satisfying to you in the long run.

** The censors are still there in the Funimation release, suggesting that they probably never intended to show anything from the start. However, [[spoiler: Yamada's naked body is fully uncensored in episode 12.]]

* OnTheNext: In a rare example of non-eros deity fourth wall breaking, Yamada pulls out a large wooden sign for her impending loss of virginity. Which is not going to happen any time soon.

* BuxomIsBetter: One of Takeshita's purposes in the plot sometimes seems to deconstruct this as heavily and repeatedly as possible. Yamada (and the other girls, to some extent) is always jealous of her, but at different points, Taskeshita has pointed out (among other things) that: boys talk to her chest (indeed, ''her very first sentence in the story'' is "My name is Takeshita, '''look at my face!'''), she has back pains, her large breasts get in the way in PE class, she's constantly ogled and commented upon, people assume that she's stupid because she's busty, it's hard finding bras that fit and (most famously, due to the scene's high squick factor, played for laughs) during the summer she gets painful underboob rashes from all the sweat that gathers there.

* CannotSpitItOut: Kosuda worries that he won't be able to make his confession of love for Yamada during their school trip to Kyoto. [[spoiler:Yamada's frustrated FreakOut moment when he finally ''does'' work up the nerve doesn't help.]]

* CharacterDevelopment: Yamada starts out thinking that sex is all that matters in life, and only wanting Kosuda as a stepping stone to getting a lot of casual sex partners. She's in too much of a hurry to lose her virginity, and doesn't think about what it means to have an actual relationship. Her first attempts to seduce him are embarrassing because she sends mixed messages, can't be honest with her feelings, and has a totally unrealistic idea of how people actually communicate and get together. [[spoiler:By actually getting to know Kosuda through these misadventures, she ends up falling in love with him, and changes her strategy to making him her boyfriend. We can see how much she's changed when she manages to blurt out in front of the whole class that she's in love with him. Even though TheirFirstTime it hurts like hell for her and lasts all of six seconds, the emotional connection makes up for that. The next couple times get better for her, but she stops obsessing about having sex all the time. By the end of the manga, Yamada has a much more mature and realistic view of sex and relationships, and is happy with Kosuda as her lover.]]

Sure enough, her chocolate soon begins burning, and she has to try again...this time, using a double boiler.

The main character Yamada is an attractive and popular high school student who's still a virgin, and she's fixated on the idea of having lots of sex to the point where her goal is having 100 sex partners, but she's so clueless about sex, romance, and flirting that she can't even seduce her shy, awkward classmate Kosuda without making a fool of herself. She's WrongGenreSavvy by trying to be ThePornomancer in a {{Hentai}} story, and when frustrated she assumes that everybody except her is having lots of sex, when in reality everyone her age is going through the same kind of difficulties with the opposite sex.
