->'''Captain Jirou Gotou''': From the beginning, SAI’s nature has always been a “death trader”. A criminal organization profiting from creating and trading scientific weapons. They invented the monsters’ creation technology then sell the products on black market. Those living weapons are then used for... killings, terrorism, and in the worst case scenario, the fall of a country in a civil war.

But on his way there, he sees a child trip on some train tracks- and a train speeding towards him. So, being the nice kid he is, he sacrifices himself to save the kid... only for the "child" to turn out to be a hologram.

Rokumichi wakes up in a tube inside a medical facility, being experimented on. He soon learns that the hologram was a trap laid by [[TheSyndicate the criminal organization SAI]], who have been turning humans into "monsters" to sell them on the black market- and he is their latest subject. [[BigBad SAI Chief Sara Warren]], their [[MadScientist head scientist]], has taken a particular interest in Rokumichi.

But her twisted experiment is interrupted by a mysterious student from Rokumichi's class, who [[UndercoverCopReveal reveals himself to be an undercover cop]] out to bust the operation. Though he is too late to stop Rokumichi from turning into a giant skeletal monstrosity, something surprising happens- Rokumichi is somehow able to turn back into a human-like form, albeit with most of his body still skeletal.

Once the two escape, Rokumichi is recruited into the anti-monster investigative force by Chief Jirou Gotou, who has taken his own interest in Rokumichi's condition. Now, he finds himself struggling not only against the SAI and Sara's machinations, but against his own new self and his monster instincts. His greatest desire is to find a way to turn back into a human, reunite with Yayoi, and take her out on that date he promised her, but he has to hide his powers from everyone else. Can Rokumichi find a way to balance his new lives? Or will he fall and become yet another mindless monster?
