Not aiming for {{Squick}} but rather HighOctaneNightmareFuel, there are "screamers" — pages that sucker you into letting your guard down and then hit you with frightening imagery and a loud scream when you're not expecting it. Most of them are in the form of "What's wrong with this picture?".

* The clumsier screamers (most of them, that is) can be identified by a request to turn your volume to full for no specific reason. If they're a little smarter, they'll trick you into turning up the volume by playing something really quietly, and getting you to listen for subliminal or backwards messages. The best ones disguise themselves as a Flash game, thus forcing the victim to focus on the screen.
* If you really want to embarrass/exasperate your friends and have/know someone that has an [=iPhone=], show one of these to someone, with headphones, in a public place (preferably somewhere quiet, like a cafe). Embarrassing not only for your victim, but your other friends as well who will feel very much like parents with misbehaving children.
** Unfortunately, that can lead to other unfortunate consequences. Once, a listener of Starmen.net's ''Radio PSI'' sent in a song with a screamer attached, and another listener had her eardrum ruptured and bleeding as a result. Sending a screamer in now will result in the requester being banned from their IRC channel and blacklisted from requesting.
* This can also be done with .gif files that are static for a long time (leading the viewer to believe it's simply a non-animated .gif) then have a sudden shock at the end, though it must be conveyed completely through visuals.
* Another variation is the "When you see it, you'll shit bricks" series of {{Fauxtivational Poster}}s. In them, an image is shown and the viewer has to look for what is wrong with it. The realization is so sudden that it startles the viewer (although some people can't get more than a "meh" upon finding it). Some are funny, some are disgusting, but most work much like, though not as well as, a screamer. Shitbrix.com is a website that collects them.
* There are some commercials for K-Fee Coffee that are screamers. It's where our [[BlatantLies old friend]] ''Scary Car Ad'' comes from (albeit the internet version chastises the viewer by [[YouSuck telling them to get back to work]]). * Averted due to ExecutiveMeddling in ''MontyPython'', who wanted to make a sketch where the sound volume will be gradually lowered during a sketch so the viewers would turn the volume to the maximum. After that, they wanted to produce a very loud sound. Of course, they weren't allowed to do so...
* ''The Scary Maze Game''. Get to the last maze and you get an image of possessed Reagan from ''TheExorcist'' with an accompanying scream. Notorious for scarring the minds of many JumpScare-loving 12 year-olds, as well as producing a host of hilarious reaction videos.
** For that matter, 80% of screamers often uses the [[DemonicPossession possessed Reagan]] pic as the shock image. Also, killerjo.net, one of the best screamer sites in Indonesia.
* Parodied by the AngryVideoGameNerd in the NintendoPower episode, where the intro begins by showing old issues of the magazine lying on his floor with the creepy ''SuperMetroid'' BGM playing, and after a few seconds a shot of the Nerd pops up and screams [[CatchPhrase "AAASSSSSSSSS!!!"]]

EncyclopaediaDramatica managed to track down the guy and actually got an interview with him; evidently, he likes that kind of thing.

** The studio that made it also made ''2 Girls 1 Cup'' (which is just a trailer for a full-length video) and hundreds of other similar [[spoiler:scat and puke]] movies. And indeed, ''SWAP.avi'' was so bad it produced a collective MyGodWhatHaveIDone from SomethingAwful, which is '''damn hard to do'''. EncyclopediaDramatica decries it.

* EncyclopediaDramatica's infamous "Offended" page is literally a collection of every single horrifying picture on the internet, ranging from [[spoiler:[[{{Gorn}} gruesome dead bodies]], various shock images such as ''Goatse'']], and more. It also includes the Pain Series. It lures you in by first having cute little photos of animals, but ItGetsWorse as you scroll down. '''Much worse.''' '''''Much much worse.''''' And the very last image? [[spoiler:[[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking The President of the United States]] (originally GeorgeWBush, now BarackObama).]] Below that, there's the page quote (the one from EncyclopediaDramatica). And below that, there's a link to Last Measure. Needless to say, this is not recommended unless you have a particular genetic mutation that [[BrainBleach bleaches the brain]]. Testing to see (even with ''Goatse'') if one has this genetic mutation is definitely not recommended. And besides, once it's shocked only your body once, you won't get shocked again, but only if you have the aforementioned mutation.
** EncyclopediaDramatica itself [[strike:could]] does count as this with the NSFW ads, deliberately offensive content, and the occasional non-sequitur shock images on certain pages aside from ones mentioned above. Offended and the earlier-mentioned pages are much, much worse than ''Goatse''. If you visit a page on there about a ShockSite (bad enough), look at the part that says "This Is Part Of A Series On Shock Sites" and select "toggle content" (suspicious enough, considering the untoggleable nature of many of the site's images), you'll be treated to a .gif of shock images...and only then will you be able to browse the series index to find other pages.

* The guys at EncyclopediaDramatica bring us the "Pain Series" and "Offended".

** For that matter, 80% of screamers often uses the [[DemonicPossesion possessed Reagan]] pic as the shock image. Also, killerjo.net, one of the best screamer sites in Indonesia.

Specifically, they had one of their staff, who is the father of a young girl, watch the trailer for the upcoming zombie game ''DeadIsland'', which opens with a clip playing in reverse of a young girl falling out of a window. It gets worse from there. The guy only lasted twenty seconds before turning the video off; said guy plays Grif, and to hear that voice so honestly angry...it's disturbing.
* "Goosh Goosh", a clip from the anime ''TokyoTribe II'' in which a skinny {{bishonen}} man [[spoiler:is violently ass-raped to death by a big fat guy, bleeding out the ass in the process]].
