The handler of well-known and infamous character Carson Baye was seen for a long time as an immature brat and the butt of every joke on the board to do with bad characters: then he disappeared for a while, came back a few years later under a new name, and his writing became 10 times better. Needless to say, most of the handlers who made all the jokes were...[[{{Understatement}} surprised]] at how much he'd matured and improved as a writer and person.

* Then there's [[TheWesley Wesley Crusher]] himself. During ''StarTrekTheNextGeneration's'' run, Wesley had his "Wesleyness" toned down at least somewhat as the show went on. Even WilWheaton himself relates that he insisted the writers bring the character back down to more realistic levels or he'd quit. This wasn't enough to save him, though, and he ended up being PutOnABus.

* Shirley Fennes in ''TalesOfLegendia'' spends a good part of the game alternating between being TheLoad and a DistressedDamsel. This, coupled with her nasally voice and dependence issues made her one of the biggest Scrappies in the ''TalesSeries''. Then she does a FaceHeelTurn, and most people who previously hated her had to admit that she was a pretty awesome villain ([[EvilSoundsDeep her whiny voice dropping a couple pitches didn't hurt, either]]). And when ThePowerOfLove [[HeelFaceTurn brings her back]], she's not a DistressedDamsel any more and can actually pull her weight (and is actually a bit of a GameBreaker). If only her voice had stayed deeper...

* ''HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi'''s [[TheChewToy Chew Toy]], the sometimes annoying crybaby [[BrattyHalfPint Satoko]], gained a fanbase after standing up to Shion while being ''stabbed to death''. Sadly, we cannot say the [[CrossesTheLineTwice same]] for [[TheBigBad Miyo]].

* The now-infamous "NXT Invasion" of the June 7th, 2010 WWE RAW is notable for not just rescuing or two wrestlers from the Scrappy Heap, but ''the entire cast of Season One''... redeeming weeks of mediocre TV and turning seemingly poor wrestlers or no-charisma spot monkeys into superstars with tremendous heat in mere ''minutes''.

* CirqueDuSoleil works hard to refine its shows, especially those that don't go over well with opening audiences and critics, so they've made a rescue or two in their time. For example, the initial response to ''Zumanity'' (their adults-only show) was extremely mixed, to the point that it was voted "Las Vegas Show SoBadItsGood" in an annual poll of locals in 2004, shortly after it opened. An extensive {{Retool}} followed, with changes to everything from the lineup of acts to the overall tone, and matters improved significantly. It reached its seventh anniversary at its host casino in 2010.
