''Prince Of Darkness'' is JohnCarpenter's second film in his "Trilogy of Apocalypse", after ''TheThing'' (1982) and before ''InTheMouthOfMadness'' (1994). It is a slow-paced, atmospheric, creepy and [[MindScrew mindfuck]]-y little film that doesn't get mentioned very often but is nonetheless an important piece in Carpenter's filmography.

However, when the green liquid starts to come out of the canister and to possess people, and crazed homeless people [[spoiler:kill everyone who tries to escape from the church]], not only Birack and company have to run for their lives, but also to try to avoid the incoming apocalypse...

A Catholic priest dies and a strange canister with a green, swirling liquid in it is discovered in an abandoned church. Another priest (Donald Pleasence) asks an old acquaintance, quantum physicist Professor Birack (Victor Wong), to investigate about the mystery of the canister. Birack brings many other students and scientists of various fields to the church to study the canister, and they discover that it is 7 million years old and that it can be opened only from the inside. An old book tells a prophecy about an old evil sealed in there, who is trying to escape, only to bring his father upon the world.

* FetishFuel - One of the female characters wakes up in bed to find another character crawling on top of her. She opens her mouth to say something about not being into this sort of thing, only to have the second female spit mind-controlling Satan-juice into her, and a thousand mind-control fetishes are born.

* HeroicSacrifice - When the Chosen one, possessed by the Antichrist, is about to summon the Anti-God from the other side of a mirror,Catherine pushes the Chosen one inside the mirror, falling into it herself, and the priest is finally able to shatter the mirror with an axe and to trap the evil in the other dimension forever. OrIsIt?

* MemeticMutation - You may have seen that animated GIF where a mustachioed man wakes up from his bed all nervous and sweaty, turns around and screams in horror after seeing (X)... well, it comes from this film!

* RecurringDreams - Everyone involved with the Brotherhood of Sleep and/or the canister experiences the same eerie dream about a mysterious cloaked figure standing in front of the church... except it is not a dream, but ''a broadcast from the future that uses brain waves as a signal to be transmitted'' and may or may not be a warning from Alien Jesus about the risks of letting the evil escape. [[MindScrew Aarghhhh!!!]]

* UncannyValley - They come in three different flavors here.
** A) Homeless people who [[spoiler: become possessed and act like a collective hive mind, much like the insects. When the evil god is defeated, they get to walk away living.]]
** B) Victims who [[spoiler: become possessed by the green liquid from the canister directly. They pass on their influence by spitting liquid into other other victims mouths. They can stand still with no free will of their own and are essential mindless drones for the evil god. Unlike the homeless, they lose their lives when the evil god is defeated]]
** C) Recently deceased corpses who [[spoiler: become reanimated undead and behave much like the living possessed. They go back to being dead bodies.]]
* UnfortunateImplications - The green goop/Antichrist can turn people and corpses into living dead by entering into their mouths; it also has some psycho-kinetic abilities that it uses to move things and to somehow control lowly creatures. What are those lowly creatures? Worms, bugs, ants... and hobos.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic
* YouMightRememberMeFrom - Alice Cooper plays one of the possessed hobos (his character is called "Street Schizo" in the end credits).
