This person, lets call her Betty[[hottip:*:(though gender is pretty much irrelevant to this trope)]], provides a troubled character, lets call him Alex, with the [[ThePowerOfLove emotional]], [[ThePowerOfTrust psychological]], and/or [[ThePowerOfFriendship moral support]] to function. Sometimes, to function ''[[CloudCuckooLander at all.]]'' She might be [[FriendlessBackground his first]] [[{{Nakama}} good friend]], a LoveInterest, or a full blown [[TheCaretaker Caretaker]] to Alex, serving as a MoralityPet or even KidWithTheLeash to reign in Alex's darker tendencies and administer {{Cooldown Hug}}s.
